Powered by a 3.5 liter, twin-turbo, V6 engine, and electric motors, the 2022 Acura NSX Type S is a crazy hybrid sports car. With the hybrid powertrain churning out a solid 600 horses, this thing goes from rest to 60 mph in a blink of an eye. And with prices starting at around $174,000, the 2022 NSX Type S is probably the most powerful car at its price point. 2022 Acura NSX Type S rivals the likes of Porsche 911 Turbo S, Audi R8, and the Nissan GT-R.
2022 Acura NSX Steering Wheel
The journey of the 2nd gen NSX comes to an end with the 2022 MY. And so, Acura made the Type S special edition with a power bump of 27 hp, redesigned front and rear bumpers and added aerodynamic enhancements. Only 300 units will be available in the U.S. market. However, there’s more to the NSX Type S than just power and performance. It is essential that you also understand what the car has got on offer on the inside.
2022 Acura NSX Interior Design, Dimensions, and Comfort
The 2022 Acura NSX Type S is quite plush on the inside. It is a performance machine, but Acura has clamped down on opulence and comfort for some minor performance upgrades. Hop on to the driver’s seat and you’re greeted by a leather-wrapped, flat-bottom steering wheel and a fully digital instrument cluster. The interior is offered in 3 different color schemes – ebony, orchid, and red. The door handles are covered with silver color and there are silver panels around the center infotainment display and the contrast with black gives the cabin a very sporty feel. You also get a GPS-linked automatic dual-zone climate control. The only downside is that there’s no gear shift lever in this car and instead there are buttons in the center console that you need to press for shifting between gears. Otherwise, the interior is just gorgeous and feels upscale. The quality of materials and fit and finish are brilliant as well.
2022 Acura NSX Front Seats
This is no luxury car and so you don’t get a cozy seating posture with a cushy seat. And NSX Type S offers seating only for two. Instead, the 2022 NSX features heavily bolstered leather-wrapped sport bucket seats that hold you tight in place. It is finished in dual-tone design- semi-aniline leather and Alcantara. The seat is positioned low to the ground and you sit with your legs stretched out. The amount of room on offer is pretty decent. The interior on the whole has a sporty and rich appeal and Acura has indeed done a good job in crafting the cabin.

The 2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S and Nissan GT-R NISMO are the only cars in the competition that offer rear seats but we all know that those are redundant. In terms of design and quality, we found the 911 Turbo’s cabin to be better than the rest. In terms of space and comfort, all these cars are pretty much on par with each other.
2022 Acura NSX Infotainment
The infotainment system of the 2022 NSX Type S is a tad bit disappointing. The car gets a 7-inch touchscreen display that sits in the center of the dash and the interface isn’t all that intuitive and feels outdated. The quality of the touchscreen isn’t great either and the screen tends to lag at times.
2022 Acura NSX Infotainment System
On the plus side though, it comes equipped with a very crisp 9-speaker ELS Studio 3D surround sound audio system that just sounds amazing and is one of the best music systems in the segment. Apart from that, as standard, you also get Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Siri Eyes free. There's an HD radio and SiriusXM satellite radio as well.

2022 Acura NSX Cargo Capacity
The 2022 NSX Type S’s trunk is behind the engine and there’s no cargo storage space at the front like you’d normally find in a mid-engined car.
2022 Acura NSX Trunk Space
Behind the engine, the NSX offers just about 4.4 cubic feet of luggage space which frankly isn’t all that great. You can put in a couple of medium-sized bags; that’s all.

The 2022 Audi R8 has the highest amount of cargo space in the competition and offers about 8 cubic feet of luggage space. The Porsche 911 Turbo S on the other hand offers smaller cargo space similar to what the NSX offers.
Additional Interior Storage Spaces
Remember the 2022 NSX Type S is marketed as a daily-drivable, everyday sports car but then the lack of storage spaces makes it a bit impractical. The car has tiny door pockets and those can barely hold a bottle. There’s a storage cubby in the center console that also doubles up as a cupholder and then there’s a small storage cubby near the backrest of the seat where you can store your mobile phones. There’s also a medium-sized glovebox. But apart from these, there aren’t any other storage spaces in the car.
2022 Acura NSX Creature Comforts
2022 NSX Type S isn’t a luxury car and hence it doesn’t have all that many creature comfort features. Yet Acura has managed to cram in a few. As standard, the car gets semi-aniline leather and Alcantara upholstery, and 4-way power-adjustable seats. The seats get a heating function as standard but Acura doesn’t offer ventilation even as an option and that’s a bit disappointing. Voice-activated dual-zone automatic climate control is offered as standard and so is a leather-wrapped steering wheel. You can pay extra and have the steering wheel in carbon fiber but Acura doesn’t offer heating function with this steering wheel even as an option.
Verdict
Yes, indeed the interior of the 2022 NSX Type S is sporty. It has tight seats, a sporty, low driving position, carbon fiber, and Alcantara all over and Acura has managed to create all the drama that you’d want in a 600 hp sports car. However, there are a few downsides as well. For one, it gets a dull infotainment interface and features like ventilated seats and heated steering wheel get a miss. The storage spaces are scant and we would have liked it more if it had some more usable storage spaces. Otherwise, the interior quality is top-notch, the design is great and there’s not much that one can complain about in those areas.
