2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Features

The Giulia Quadrifoglio is a breath of fresh air against staid German rivals. Its twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 is full of bravado, not to mention 505 hp routed rearward via an 8-speed automatic. Underneath, an active suspension setup renders the Quadrifoglio perfectly comfortable as a daily driver or, at the twist of a drive mode knob, ready to attack a road coarse. -The Car Connection

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is a 4-door, rear-wheel-drive sports sedan. It is available in a single variant with plenty of standard features like 19-inch wheels, carbon fiber material in the interior and exterior, an 8.8-inch infotainment system. The other available features include Carbon ceramic high-performance Brembo brakes, Automatic High Beam Headlamp, Infrared Windshield, Lane Departure Warning and Blindspot detection.

The Giulia Quadrifoglio is priced at $73,500 and it stands out to be a tough competitor to the other cars in the segment viz. BMW M4, Mustang Shelby GT 350 and Mercedes-Benz AMG C-63.

We recommend

The Italian automaker hasn’t really given an opportunity for buyers to contemplate regarding the trims and get confused. Since there is just one trim available; it is a simple “yes or no” decision.

Engine and Transmission

The Quadrifoglio is equipped with a powerful 2.9L Turbocharged V6 engine that churns out 505 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. It is a rear-drive only car with an 8-speed Automatic transmission. The engine is developed exclusively for the Quadrifoglio by Ferrari technicians and it makes a fair bit of noise as expected. The Giulia Quadrifoglio’s V6 engine does an exceptional job at higher gears with lower revs and when the rpm gets higher, it just cruises with brute power, making a rousing sound from the dual exhaust system.

Acceleration

The 505hp V6 engine in the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is simply a beast that unleashes 443 pound-feet of torque. It gets from a speed of 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 sec which is the best in the segment, closely followed by the BMW M4 which takes 4.0 sec. Although the Benz AMG C-63 with the 4.0L engine equals the Quadrifoglio in the time taken to reach the quarter mile, the Quadrifoglio is way ahead of it in terms of acceleration to reach 60 mph.

Ride and Handling

The agile handling of the car with sporty dynamics is really impressive. The steering in the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is really quick and the race-setting with disabled traction control literally drives you crazy. It doesn’t really hesitate to fly its tail for a perfect drift when the traction control is turned off.

The Alfa DNA Pro Drive Mode Selector offers high-level customizability and the Steering Column-Mounted Aluminum Paddle Shifters add up to the sporty drivability. The adaptive suspension helps soak even larger bumps with ease. The aero splitter on the front meanwhile helps you get a comfortable ride with lesser noise inside the cabin even at higher speeds.

Braking

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio comes with an optional carbon ceramic ultra-high-performance braking system, consisting of six-piston front and four-piston rear high-performance Brembo ventilated disc brakes, which helps in reducing the braking intervals for responsiveness and better braking. This 3822 lbs sports sedan takes 143 ft to come to a standstill position from 70 mph when the brakes are applied.

The best in the segment, in terms of braking, is the Mustang Shelby GT 350 which takes 138 ft distance in order to do so. The Mercedes Benz AMG C63 closely follows the Quadrifoglio with 143.4 ft while the BMW M4 is the least in the segment with 151 ft.

2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Fuel Economy

6.6/10

The Giulia Quadrifoglio check in with 17 mpg city, 24 mpg highway and 20 mpg combined. Its rival, the BMW M4, has a similar fuel economy with just an extra mpg on the highway. The Mercedes-Benz AMG C-63 offers the best in class fuel economy in the city with 21 mpg but it equals the Giulia in highway and combined fuel efficiency. For a probable reason of being the heaviest car in the class , the Shelby GT 350 offers the worst fuel economy.

2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Interior

5.7/10

There are plenty of soft-touch materials and the large flowing dash is covered in a choice of real wood accents or brushed aluminum and carbon fiber for a more performance-oriented style. Quadrifoglio trim levels get a more desirable 8.8-inch screen. -Kelley Blue Book

Seating and Comfort

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is a 4-door sports sedan that can accommodate 5 persons. The Quadrifoglio is equipped with Leather and Alcantara Seats as a standard while the Carbon Fiber Sparco Racing Seats are available as an optional. Relishing the “Italian craftsmanship and sportiness”, the seats are comfortable and accent stitched with light and dark colored lines.

The seating position is upright and it is quite easy to get in and get out of the vehicle. The touch and feel of the Quadrifoglio Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel are amazing and adds to the sporty feel of the car; however, it feels that the interior plastics aren’t upscale especially when compared to its rival, the Benz AMG C63.
