The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio enters its 2022 model year without any changes. The car is the same as the 2021 model, which was well-known for its high performance, top interiors, and unique designs. The Giulia is not like most compact sedans in the market and offers a very distinctive experience that will be liked by most drivers. As a car-maker, Alfa Romeo is not very well known for its reliability but the 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio fared well without any major issues.

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

The 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is a beast in terms of performance. Its 2.9L V-6 engine pumps out a heavy 500+ horsepower and offers top handling to control this beast. The performance and the exterior are the best things on this sedan. However, reliability is still a question for the 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. It rivals the 2022 BMW M3 Competition xDrive, the 2022 Audi RS5 Sportback and the 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG C-63. The BMW and the Audi get minor changes for the 2022 model year, whereas the Merc gets a complete redesign for 2022.

The car offers a very premium interior with a lot of customization options and a lot of packages as well. The active assist 2 package is a must-buy for all the safety equipment it gets along with it, and the other packages are a personal choice.

2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Sedan Engine and Performance

The 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio comes with a 2.9L Twin-turbo V-6 engine that churns out 505 hp @ 6500 rpm and 443 lb-ft @ 2500 rpm. The 2022 Giulia Quadrifoglio uses an 8-speed automatic transmission. The car comes with an RWD set-up.The 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio’s performance remains the same as last year’s performance. The car clocks 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds, and takes 11.9 seconds for the quarter-mile at 13.2 seconds, at a speed of 122 mph. It has a top speed of 190 mph.

As this is a carryover model, the car delivers the same excellent handling that was seen on the standard Giulia. The gearbox is quick at shifting gears and does so smoothly. The chassis is well-made and is very supportive at corners or high-speed runs. The car gets a torque-vectoring differential as well. The car comes with 3 driving modes, Dynamic, Natural, and Advanced. The car is equipped with an active suspension setup that works in sync with the driving modes and adjusts accordingly.

The steering on the Giulia is just beautiful. With a steering ratio of 11:8, it offers a quick response, requires minimum effort to turn and the feedback is just great. This is also thanks to the semi-virtual steering axis. The steering combined with the suspension set-up and the chassis makes corners a very fun place to be in and inspires confidence to go faster as well. The car’s exterior has a few aerodynamic design inserts as well. The Active aero front splitter is an essential part of maintaining the car’s balance, and can generate up to 2,000 pounds of downforce. The car has a 50/50 weight distribution setup, and gets a carbon-fiber driveshaft as well.

In comparison with the rivals, the Audi RS 5and the Mercedes C63 offers the most combined fuel economy of 21 mpg. The Alfa Romeo offers the second best, at 20 mpg combined. The BMW offers the least combined efficiency of 19 mpg. The Audi RS 5 and the Mercedes C63 offer the most city mileage of 18 mpg, but the Mercedes delivers the best highway mileage of 27 mpg. In terms of range, the Mercedes-Benz C63 offers the most range at 365 miles combined. It also has the largest fuel capacity at 17.4 gallons. The Audi RS 5 offers the second-best range, at 321 miles combined. The Alfa is third with a combined range of 306 miles. The BMW M3 finishes last with its 296.4 miles combined range.

The best city range is offered by the C63 at 313 miles, whereas the lowest city range is offered by the M3 Competition at 249 miles. It's the same story with the highway range as well. The Audi and the Alfa have a fuel capacity of 15.3 gallons, whereas the BMW has a fuel capacity of 15.6 gallons.

2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Sedan Interior

The 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio’s interiors are very classy for the segment. The fit and finish, the quality, and the materials used have all been well executed and work seamlessly with each other. The layout of the dash is driver-focused, and this is evident by the way the controls have been placed. The controls are robust, but a few of them have been placed, um.. ‘Curiously’. The steering wheel, with heated functionality, also comes with a lot of adjustabilities. The metal shift paddles deliver confidence in their functioning. The placement of the middle pillar (too far ahead than it should be) has compromised visibility slightly, but overall it's fine. There are carbon fiber interior trims at the dash, the center console, the door, and the car sports stitched leather on the inside. You have an option of red stitching, grey stitching, and white, and green stitching. The standard interior comes with Alcantara leather seats in black and the trim is in black as well. You can customize this, and the customization costs are around $3,500.

The 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is a five-seater car. The doors are wide, and ingress and egress on the Giulia are hard, thanks to the middle pillar that is way too ahead, and the wheel arches that eat into the rear space. The front seats on the Giulia offer plenty of space, with excellent headroom and legroom and tons of adjustability. The seats are well-bolstered, and offer great support as well. However, the same cannot be said about the seats in the rear. They do offer great back support, but the headroom is tight, and the legroom is short.

The infotainment system on the 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is a mixed bag. The infotainment unit is an 8.8-inches touchscreen, which can be touch-controlled or by using a rotary knob on the center console. The instrument cluster uses a combination of analog/digital displays. Some features of the infotainment unit include navigation, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, stereo, USB connection, and auxiliary audio input. The Quadrifoglio gets a 14-speaker Harman-Kardon system as well. The system is not easy to use, the voice controls suffer, the Bluetooth is slow and navigation inputs are tough. Some of the highlights of the infotainment system are:

  • 8.8-inches touchscreen
  • Voice controls
  • SiriusXM
  • Navigation
  • Apple CarPlay with Android Auto
  • Wireless charging pad (opt) ($300)
  • Bluetooth

2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Sedan Exterior

The 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio’s exterior is unique, and something never seen before. The way the car has been designed, it’s attractive and a definite head-turner. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio stands out from the Alfa Romeo Giulia due to its aerodynamics additions and the clover-leaf wheels and insignia. The front features the triangular grille: the Alfa trademark called the Scudetto, and this sits in between the eye-slit headlights that are extended into the front fender as well. The front also gets large ait intakes located at the lower part that direct air towards the engine for cooling. All around, you have sleek curves that run from the front nose, on the hood, over the roof, and merge into the rear. The side portrays a line that starts from the gill behind the front wheel, and carries on to the rear door handles, and stops there. The side portrays deep and tall wheel arches that go with the swoop down the roofline. At the rear, the boot finishes off with a unique shaped spoiler, and the taillights look mean with their sharp lines and the triangular design. The twin dual exhaust setup looks beautiful, and enhances the sport nature of the car even more. You can choose from two-wheel designs in two unique colors, and this will cost $500 only. You can also have colored brake calipers for free. The Alfa gets performance tires as standard, and an exposed carbon-fiber roof can be added for $2,000.

2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Sedan Competition

2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio vs 2022 BMW M3 Competition xDrive

The 2022 BMW M3 Competition xDrive is the all-wheel-drive variant of the M3 Competition. The car gets a few upgrades for the year 2022, but has the same engine and performance parameters. The M3 is cheaper, produces more torque, and has better performance times compared to the Giulia.

Both the cars have excellent and stunning exteriors, but it's the BMW whose interior is a better bet than the Alfa’s. In terms of safety, what the Giulia offers in a package, most of it comes as standard on the M3. Also, the base car of the M3 has a better safety rating than the base car of the Quadrifoglio. The Quadrifoglio does however offer a better fuel economy. In the end, the BMW M3 would be our preferred pick.

2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio vs 2022 Audi RS 5 Sportback

The 2022 Audi RS 5 Sportback is the ultimate competition the 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio faces. It beats the Alfa open in terms of performance, nearly every factor, from speed runs to handling and control, and the RS 5 offers a better fuel economy as well. The interior space is slightly more in the Audi, and the RS offers a richer interior experience and the seating is more comfortable in the Audi.

The Audi RS 5 is a heavy car, and is bigger in dimensions than the Alfa, and has more wheelbase as well. Both the cars are similar in terms of safety features, but the standard safety features list on the Audi is longer than what the Alfa offers. The Audi is slightly cheaper as well, and has a better reliability offering compared to the Alfa.

2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio vs 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG C-63

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 is a more affordable car than the Alfa, by around $7,000. The car will get an update for the year 2022, and we’ll revisit this area once the parameters are out. For now, the 2021 Merc and the 2022 Alfa are close to each other in terms of performance, despite the Mec putting out more torque than the Alfa, which leads in terms of horsepower. The AMG’s engine is much bigger than the Alfa, and gets two more cylinders as well.

The Alfa, as well as the Merc, are excellent handlers. Both the cars offer a similar interior experience, but we prefer the C-63’s interiors more. The AMG C-63 has high ownership costs like the Alfa, but it beats the Giulia in terms of reliability and safety. The base C-class aced the safety tests, so this gives the Mercedes an upper hand over the Giulia.

2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Sedan Final Verdict

The 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio remains unchanged. The car is very expensive at $80,000; and you can get some better performing, better equipped, and more luxurious cars for that price bracket. The Alfa has reliability issues, but there haven’t been major complaints that put the car in a spot. The Giulia sales are less as well, making this an exclusive car with stunning exteriors that stands out from the crowd. The Giulia, we believe, is a car designed for someone who wants a sports sedan with superb handling and steering; and a heavy road presence. All in all, if not for the rear-seat space, the 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio would indeed make the perfect pick.
