The Aston Martin Valkyrie is a limited production hybrid hypercar from the house of Aston Martin. It was co-developed by the Aston Martin engineering team and Redbull Racing Formula One team. It is surely a no-compromise, performance-oriented car only and was destined to be only with a chosen few. It’s an exclusive hypercar from the British marque for hardcore performance enthusiasts who are not faint-hearted and surely are stinking rich.

The new Aston Martin Valkyrie is expected to be the same hypercar that marked Aston Martin's entry into the heated and hyped hypercar market with its performance, aerodynamic wizardry, and distinctive styling. Aston Martin initially planned only the road-legal coupe version and track-only AMR Pro version but recently showcased a ‘Spyder’ version as well. It will face competition from Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport, Mercedes-Benz AMG One and Koenigsegg Jesko.

2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie Features

The Aston Martin Valkyrie Coupe was made only in two trim configurations namely the Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro. The Valkyrie Coupe is priced at about $3 million and the track-only Valkyrie AMR Pro is priced at $3.5 million. Surely, both the trims are super exclusive and the prices are outworldly too, just like its performance. Only 150 models for the Valkyrie and 25 models for the Valkyrie AMR Pro were planned for production. Surprisingly, the exorbitant pricing has not kept buyers away from buying one and all the models are already sold out. Even Aston Martin was overwhelmed by the demand for its super exclusive hypercar. The Street legal Valkyrie is a hybrid car whereas the AMR Pro track-only version is less powerful and IC engine powered only.

We Recommend

The road legal Valkyrie definitely makes more sense as you are not gonna buy a $3 million car just for track use. Also, the road legal Valkyrie comes with a hybrid powertrain and offers more power output than the track-only AMR Pro. The AMR Pro also skips on the hybrid powertrain to save weight. The road legal Valkyrie also comes with a central infotainment screen which the AMR Pro skips blatantly to save some weight.

2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie Release Date

The planned street legal Valkyrie and its track-only AMR Pro version were already sold out as soon as the company started accepting reservations for it. However, due to pandemic its deliveries were delayed and the company will start delivering the vehicles by the end of 2021.

2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie Engine and Performance

9.5/10

The Aston Martin Valkyrie’s powertrain consists of a Cosworth developed 6.5L V-12 engine producing 1000 hp and a Rimac sourced electric motor which outputs 160 hp. The combined power output stands at 1160 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid system’s battery pack and electric motor are designed by Rimac especially for the Valkyrie. As we all know, Rimac is the world leader in making high power electric vehicles and their corresponding control systems. The powertrain is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission and power is sent to rear wheels only.

The track-only AMR Pro’s drivetrain consists only of a Cosworth developed 6.5L V-12 engine producing 1000 hp, mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. The omission of the hybrid drivetrain was solely for weight reduction and improving the power to weight ratio of the AMR Pro even further than the regular Valkyrie. The regular Valkyrie does 0-60 mph in a mere 2.5 seconds which is just insane to be honest. We can just imagine what sort of G-force the passengers would be experiencing at such blinding acceleration of the Valkyrie. With super low weight, handling and maneuverability of the car is bound to be phenomenal as well.

The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is the most powerful car in the lot and offers staggering acceleration as well. It does a 0-60 mph sprint in about 2.3 seconds. The Koenigsegg Jesko and Aston Martin Valkyrie follow it with a 2.5 second 0-60 mph sprint. The Koenigsegg Jesko offers the highest top speed of the lot and also boasts of the lightest 5.0L V-8 engine in the world. The hybrid Valkyrie also offers a heart-popping top speed of 250 mph.

2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie Fuel Economy

7.5/10

While comparing super-exclusive hypercars, it doesn’t make sense to think of fuel efficiency. All the hypercars are bound to be fuel guzzlers considering their performance and specifications. The Aston Martin Valkyrie is made for performance and efficiency was never a topic of discussion while designing it. However, owing to the presence of a hybrid powertrain it might just be more fuel-efficient than some of its fellow competitors. It can safely be assumed that the Cosworth tuned 6.5L V-12 engine when paired with a hybrid drivetrain might just make the Valkyrie the most efficient V-12 Aston Martin model. The Valkyrie also comes with a super low coefficient of drag, aiding it further with better fuel economy than its competitors.

The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is the most powerful beast in the comparison and hence is also the more thirsty one. It offers about 8 mpg in the city, 13 mpg on the highway, and 10 mpg in mixed driving conditions. As we don't have data for most hypercars in the comparison, we can just assume about their fuel efficiency. Considering that the Mercedes-AMG One will be powered by a smaller 1.6L engine paired with a hybrid powertrain, it will be the most fuel-efficient as well followed by the Aston Martin Valkyrie, Koenigsegg Jesko, and Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport.

2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie Interior

9.0/10

The interior of the Aston Martin Valkyrie is unlike any other Aston Martin car and is very different from other hypercars too. It was designed on a Formula-1 car platform and truly follows its design principles as well. The cockpit is typically like a futuristic capsule and passengers have to sit with their feet up in a reclined position. The sheer shortage of passenger volume inside the cabin might be the reason for such an uncomfortable position. So it's not advisable to be inside the cabin for longer journeys which we presume most buyers won’t. For enhanced safety and support, the Valkyrie comes with a four-point safety harness while a six-point safety harness is optional and would be more necessary for track-only use. The seat harnesses come in six different bold colors to match your choice.

The most interesting part of the interior design of the Aston Martin Valkyrie has to be its detachable steering wheel. Such a design helps with easy ingress and egress. The cabin is a proper carbon-fiber tub and every part of the car is made from it. The instrument console is missing in favor of weight reduction and all the necessary information for the driver is available on a small OLED screen to present on the center of the steering wheel. Also, there are not many knobs and buttons to fiddle with inside the cabin. Most of the switchgear is provided on the steering wheel only. The switchgear is offered in three different colors namely in red color, black color, or in anodized silver finish. Aston Martin offers many different colors, patterns, and textures for the inner upholstery, typical of any Aston Martin car

All the hypercars in the comparison can accommodate two passengers. We don’t have adequate data for a full-fledged comparison. However, by looking at the interior of the car we can assume about the available interior volume in each of the cars. The Aston Martin Valkyrie is bound to have the most compact passenger cabin and the passenger comfort definitely takes a toll. Even the ingress and egress are not easy. The Koenigsegg Jesko offers the maximum cargo space of 5.3 cu-ft which might just seem to be wonderful in the hypercar segment. The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport offers a mere 2.0 cu-ft of cargo space. The Mercedes-AMG might just offer better seating and a well-laid-out cabin experience. Some of the standout interior features of the Valkyrie are:

  • Detachable steering wheel
  • Steering mounted OLED screen
  • Steering mounted controls
  • Four-point safety harness
  • Six-point safety harness(Optional)
  • Carbon fiber seats

What’s there to keep you entertained/informed?

The Aston Martin is a performance-oriented, super exclusive hypercar. However, the street-legal version comes with a center-mounted infotainment system while the AMR Pro version does away with the center infotainment screen for weight reduction. The center OLED screen on the steering wheel is designed to provide all the necessary information like current gear, pit stop speed limiter, and cruise control as well. The remaining two screens are placed near the A-pillars and display the outside rear view with the help of the cameras mounted on the wheel arches. The two screens eliminate the need for two exterior mirrors and help with weight reduction and improving aerodynamic efficiency. Some of the standout infotainment features of the Valkyrie are:

  • Steering mounted OLED screen
  • 3-set display unit
  • Centre infotainment screen

2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie Exterior

3.0/10

The Aston Martin Valkyrie surely looks like an otherworldly car. It simply does not belong to the current crop of hypercars and looks like an advanced spaceship from the future. Its dome-like cabin with gull-wing doors on both sides surely looks appealing to the eyes. The front fascia imbibes two rather small LED headlamps and low-sloping bonnet aid with aerodynamic efficiency while looking sporty. The flanks in the front and large diffusers help to channel the air flow from the front to the rear seamlessly and reduce the coefficient of drag drastically.

The rear profile is visually dramatic as well with an active rear spoiler and two 3-point LED tail lights that look appealing. All the external bodywork and every single panel on the Valkyrie is made from carbon fiber only to save maximum weight and improve the power to weight ratio of the car. The AMR Pro further enhances the exterior design to further enhance the aerodynamic efficiency and reduce the weight even further. It uses even a lighter grade of carbon fiber for body construction and is lighter than the street-legal version.

The Aston Martin Valkyrie is the lightest hypercar of the lot despite having a hybrid powertrain, all thanks to a full carbon fiber body construction. The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is the heaviest hypercar, thanks to its massive 8.0L W-16 engine. The Koenigsegg Jesko tips the scale at about 3131 pounds, followed by the Mercedes-AMG One at 2755 pounds and the Valkyrie at just 2270 pounds. The Valkyrie is also taller and longer than its rivals. It also sits on a longer wheelbase which helps with better straight-line stability. Some of the standout exterior features of the Valkyrie are:

  • Full carbon fiber construction
  • Gull-wing doors
  • Single wiper only
  • Active rear spoiler
  • Magnesium alloy wheels
  • Michelin high-performance tires

2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie Safety

9.0/10

The Aston Martin Valkyrie is a super exclusive hypercar with the highest level of built quality from the British marque. As it is a super low production hypercar, it has not been tested by the NHTSA or IIHS. We are sure that it won’t be tested especially after considering its price tag of $3 million which is even more expensive. However, by studying the engineering of the car we are pretty sure that it will be a safe car for sure.

A full carbon-fiber body construction and carbon fiber main cabin tub are resistant enough to withstand tremendous impact force without being distorted. Also, due to a smooth fluidic design, there won’t be any concentration of stress around the non-existent sharp edges. It does come with some safety features like rearview camera, anti-lock braking system, stability control system, crash response system and some more to ensure the safety of the passengers. Some of the standout safety features of the Valkyrie are:

  • Intelligent crash response system
  • Full carbon fiber body construction
  • 4/6-point safety harness
  • A forward collision mitigation system
  • Standard backup camera

2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie Competition

9.0/10

2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie vs 2022 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport

The Aston Martin Valkyrie boasts a hybrid powertrain and superior aerodynamics. The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is equipped with a ginormous 8.0L W-16 engine and offers better performance than the Valkyrie. However, the Valkyrie offers higher top speed than the Chiron Pur Sport and is much lighter in weight compared to it. As a result, it offers a better power-to-weight ratio than the Chiron Pur Sport. Also, we assume that the Valkyrie will offer better fuel efficiency than the Chiron Pur Sport owing to a smaller V-12 engine and a hybrid powertrain. The Chiron Pur Sport is even more expensive than the exorbitantly priced Aston Martin Valkyrie

2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie vs 2022 Mercedes AMG One

The Mercedes-Benz AMG one is equipped with a much smaller 1.6L turbocharged engine and is assisted by a hybrid powertrain to offer hypercar level performance. Also, it will be more fuel-efficient than the Valkyrie. It might be the closest rival to Valkyrie and offers very similar performance. However, the Aston Martin Valkyrie is slightly better with handling and is lighter as well. Also, we would prefer the Valkyrie over the Mercedes AMG One for its out worldly looks and superior full carbon fiber structural elements and body construction.

2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie vs 2022 Koeniggsegg Jesko

The Koenigsegg Jesko is a mega car that boasts better interior appointments than the Valkyrie. It is priced very similarly to the Valkyrie and performs equally well. However, the Valkyrie is lighter than the Jesko and offers better power to weight ratio than it. Also, the whole race focussed approach of the Valkyrie is much better than the Jesko. The Valkyrie would be an ideal car for those who wanna experience a Formula-1 car. The Jesko simply can’t provide that experience. We would pick the Valkyrie over the Jesko.

2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie Final Verdict

The Aston Martin Valkyrie is unlike any hypercar that you might have seen or driven. Its design approach, performance, and race-derived engineering are simply out worldly. It also boasts of a Rimac derived hybrid powertrain for a better power to weight ratio. The power to weight ratio of the Valkyrie is simply unbeatable. A full carbon-fiber body construction ensures lightweight construction and supreme safety as well. To make a long statement short, it is simply a street-legal Formula-1 car developed in collaboration with a Formula-1 team. However, we would like to add that despite the stupendous amount of money you might be willing to spend on this masterpiece, it is already sold out and we feel sorry for you.
