With its unparalleled driving dynamics and power delivery, it gives you goosebumps right from the moment you get behind the wheel. Moreover, it is hands-down the most aggressive-looking car in its segment. The best thing about the exterior is the foldable roof which takes only 6.8 seconds to open at speeds below 30 mph which is quite impressive. Usually, convertible cars are heavier than their coupe version. Nevertheless, for all the extra weight, it doesn’t feel like it. Despite being a convertible car, the body flex is great and it almost handles like a coupe. Moreover, it goes up against some other strong rivals like the Porsche 911 Carrera Convertible S, Jaguar F-Type R convertible, and Mercedes-Benz AMG GT roadster.

2022 Aston Martin Vantage Convertible Engine and Performance

8.0/10

The 2022 Aston Martin Vantage Convertible is powered by a 4.0 L Twin-Turbocharged V8 that outputs up to 503 hp of maximum power to the rear wheels. The engine revs at 2000 RPM to deliver a peak colossal torque of 505-pound feet. This exceptional engine is coupled to an 8-Speed automatic seamless shift transmission that is seamless with its quick shifts that get even more responsive when you turn it into Sports mode.

2022 Aston Martin Vantage Convertible Engine Bay

Unfortunately, you won't get the 7-speed manual transmission you get in the coupe version. All this insane power is channeled via rear wheels only which makes it a drifting car on demand. With its lightweight chassis, the Aston Martin Vantage Convertible delivers a lunatic acceleration with all that surge of power from the fire-breathing V8 engine and takes only 2.8 seconds to reach a speed of 60 MPH where it is assisted by a stellar launch control that ensures linear acceleration.

The aerodynamic bodywork of the car allows the car to hit high speed so rapidly and despite being a convertible car, the can achieve sensational speeds in the corner even with the roof down. The Aston Martin Vantage continues to accelerate until it reaches its top speed of a whopping 190 mph. With its sport-tuned adaptive suspension, the Aston Martin vantage is all about agile handling and impeccable driving dynamics. The adaptive suspensions adjust the shock absorbers according to the road conditions. The well-balanced design adds less weight and more to the aerodynamics of the car.

In comparison, the Porsche 911 Carrera S and Jaguar F-type R stick with their naturally aspirated engines. While the Aston Martin and Mercedes Benz have moved to twin-turbocharged engines which also have a bit more lag than the Naturally aspirated engines. All the cars in the segment are equipped with an RWD system. Whereas the Jaguar goes with an all-wheel-drive system. One more significant thing about the engine of the Aston Martin is, the V8 engine is made by the AMG.

Hence AMG GT and Aston Martin share the same engine. In terms of power, the Jaguar F-Type is clearly the most powerful, producing 575 hp and 516-pound feet of torque. While Aston Martin takes the third spot in terms of power. With great power to weight ratio, the Porsche 911 Carrera S convertible matches the performance figures of the Aston Martin with a similar 0-60 MPH time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph. Moreover, the Jaguar is the fastest accelerating sports car in its segment which hits 60 mph from a standstill in 3.5 seconds.

2022 Aston Martin Vantage Convertible Fuel Economy

6.0/10

We can never deny the fact that the Supercars are so poor in delivering good fuel figures. The same goes for the Aston Martin Vantage as well. That’s why the Supercars brands equip massive fuel tanks for their cars. The Twin-Turbo V8 engine on the Aston Martin Vantage offers 18 MPG in the city, 24 MPG on the highway, and a combined 20 MPG which happens to be one among the highest in its segment.

For a car that puts out 503 hp, this kind of economy is really impressive. Thanks to the turbocharger that helps with the efficiency despite having a lot of power. Moreover, A tremendous 19.0-gallon fuel tank allows it to have a range of 347.5 miles in the city, 463.2 miles on the highway, and 384 miles when combined. Surprisingly the Aston Martin takes the win easily both in terms of efficiency and range.

Surprisingly, the Aston Martin Vantage with a turbocharged V8 powertrain is the most efficient of the bunch followed by the Porsche 911 Carrera which returns 18 mpg in the city,23 mpg on the highway, and 20 mpg when combined. Both the Mercedes-AMG GT and Jaguar F-Type-R with their big engines are a lot less efficient returning a combined mileage of 18 mpg and differ by 2 mpg when it comes to highway fuel economy.

The Mercedes Benz loses out to all the other cars in the competition. But, with its 19.8-gallon fuel tank, the Mercedes Benz annihilates both Porsche and Jaguar in terms of the range offering 317 miles in the city, 436 miles on the highway, and 356 miles when combined. The Porsche on the other hand offers a dismal driving range of 304 miles in the city and 389 miles on the highway.

2022 Aston Martin Vantage Convertible Interior

9.0/10

Being a grand touring supercar, the 2022 Aston Martin Vantage is very well equipped on the cabin with a futuristic and striking cabin with comfortable sports seats. To start with, Everything inside the cabin is wrapped in leather upholstery. Plenty of premium materials are used everywhere and the center push-starts/stop button and Mercedes-inspired touchpad looks like they’re lifted straight off a spaceship. Moreover, you can also carbon fiber bits on the center console which looks absolutely stunning.

2022 Aston Martin Vantage Convertible Dashboard

Comfort levels are great though and it offers supportive sports seats at the front with good bolstering and soft leather upholstery. Seat adjustability is limited to 8 ways which will let you set your perfect driving position. If that doesn’t make you happy, you can have an optional 16-way electric heated bucket seat with memory by opting for the Comfort package which would cost you an additional $2500. Apart from that, For 2022, the Aston Martins flaunts some new interior design themes which are expected to look staggering. However, all the luxury features come in as an option which might be a drawback. Moreover, the interior dimensions of the Aston Martin Vantage remain unspecified.

Although the Aston Martin interior looks superior and comfortable, the Porsche looks even more attractive in some aspects. The Jaguar F-Type-R has a front headroom of 37 inches, a shoulder room of 56.5 inches, and a legroom of 43 inches. However, the Mercedes Benz AMG GT has more headroom than the Jaguar which measures 38 inches.

The interior dimensions and proportions of all the cars except the Jaguar remain unknown. However, when it comes to cargo space, the Mercedes Benz AMG GT convertible offers better cargo space than the Porsche which measures 5.8 cubic feet. The Porsche, on the other hand, measures 4.6 cubic feet of cargo volume. Some of the salient and optional interior features include:

  • 8- way Power-adjustable memory setting seats
  • Leather upholstery
  • Tilt And Telescopic Steering Wheel
  • Leather Steering Wheel
  • Dual Zone Front Climate Control
  • GT Heated Steering Wheel
  • Carbon Fiber Tread Plate
  • Contrast Stitching
  • Primary Alcantara Headlining

What’s there to keep you entertained?

Aston Martin has equipped a beautiful 8-inch display that looks like it is popping out from the center of the stylish dashboard. This screen has a high-definition display and some cool graphics in its interface but Porsche and AMG offer an even better interface. The display has a touchpad which is also Mercedes Benz derived. Some may think it takes away the originality of the car but we think that Mercedes is the best in business in making superior features such as this.

Hence, it's acceptable. Also, you get a knob that is placed right under the touchpad which also can be used to control the infotainment screen. It works and feels nice to use. It sums how well laid out the infotainment screen is. On the whole, the infotainment system used in the Aston Martin vantage is very well curated. Moreover, the Vantage comes with a navigation system which looks great. Some other standout infotainment systems include:

  • 8.0-inch infotainment screen
  • 6 Speakers
  • Steering Wheel Controls
  •  Aston Martin DAB AM/FM Audio System
  • iPod and iPhone integration
  • Bluetooth audio and phone streaming and integrated satellite navigation system

2022 Aston Martin Vantage Convertible Exterior

8.0/10

Aston Martin Vantage has been very well known for its unique and luxurious styling even when it comes to its previous generations. Usually, the convertible versions of every supercar look a tad imperfect when compared to the coupe version but in this case, the Vantage got better in terms of look with the convertible. Just like Porsche which applied its signature design to all of its models. The styling of the Vantage is closely inspired by the famous DB10 which got featured in the James Bond film.

2022 Aston Martin Vantage Convertible Three Quarter View

As for the looks, it looks menacing and intimidating from any angle. For starters, the small and sharp headlights with LED daytime running lights look like the eyes of an angry little monster with a huge tastefully designed front grille. Moving on to the taillights, the taillights get even better than the headlights. The single LED sleek tail lights run through the whole rear end with an inclination at the center. In reality, it is such a stunner to behold.

Moreover, it has side crease lines and the lines on the bonnet and hood prove that it is such an aerodynamic car. This new design which was launched last year is more aero efficient and creates less drag than its previous generation model by a considerable amount. Moving on to dimensions, the Aston Martin is one of the shortest cars, in terms of length but clearly the widest car in its competition. The lower the center of gravity, the more the car handles well. It measures a length of 175.8 inches and a width of 76.5 inches which makes it one of the most compact cars in the segment.

Among the competition, the Mercedes Benz AMG GT is the largest car in the segment measuring a length of 179 inches. In fact, the Porsche 911 Convertible has the shortest wheelbase which explains its mind-blowing handling and performance on the racing tracks and curvy roads. However, the Mercedes Benz AMG GT is more prone to be stuck in traffic as it is considerably larger than the competition, and with the never-ending bonnet on the front, outward visibility is very dismal. Also, the Mercedes Benz is one among the lowest with a ground clearance of 3.8 inches. The Porsche, on the other hand, stands one above the ground than the AMG GT. Some of the standout and optional exterior features are as follows:

  • 21-inch wheels with an all-new design
  • Hood Vents - Matte Black Mesh
  • Rear Diffuser Insert And Blades - Body-Colored
  • Exterior Badging - Q Aston Martin Machined Carbon Fiber Wings And Script
  • Mirror Caps In Q 2x2 Twill Gloss Carbon Fiber
  • Smoked LED Tail Lights
  • Rear Diffuser Insert And Blades - Q 2x2 Twill Gloss Carbon Fiber

2022 Aston Martin Vantage Convertible Safety

9.0/10

Like every other sports car company, Safety is one of the paramount things for Aston Martin too. However, expensive cars like the Aston Martin Vantage will not be tested either by NHTSA or IIHS due to the expensive price tag on them. However, Aston Martin is very trustworthy when it comes to safety and reliability. That is one of the reasons why they have such a glorious history. On the upside, the new Aston Martin Vantage convertible is backed by some best in class safety features such as

  • Tire Pressure Monitoring
  • Self-Leveling Headlights
  • Emergency Braking Assist
  • Daytime Running Lights
  • Backup camera
  • Rear parking aid
  • 360-degree surround-view camera

2022 Aston Martin Vantage Convertible Competition

7.0/10

2022 Aston Martin Vantage Convertible vs 2022 Porsche 911 Carrera S Convertible:

The Porsche 911 Carrera S convertible is one of the finest sports cars in the market. It drives and handles better than the Aston Martin for sure but where it lacks behind is the Power output. The Porsche with its naturally aspirated flat-six engine produces less power than the Aston Martin. However, as a supercar, Porsche ticks all the necessary boxes to be a perfect supercar and it is worth considering before buying.

2022 Porsche 911 Carerra S Convertible Side View

2022 Aston Martin Vantage Convertible vs 2022 Jaguar F-Type R:

The Jaguar F-Type R convertible is clearly the most powerful car in the segment for the most affordable price. It is the real deal here. It looks magnificent, drives well, and delivers a mind-bending performance with an angry yet sweet V8 noise. However, it lacks the quality that Aston Martin offers you and the Jaguar F-type is heftier which affects the driving dynamics of the car comparatively. If you want a sports car for a really great deal. It is the perfect pick for you in this segment.

2022 Jaguar F-Type R Three Quarter view

2022 Aston Martin Vantage Convertible vs Mercedes-Benz AMG GT:

Both these cars are pretty much the same. They share the same engine platform. To put things into perspective, the Vantage uses the heart of the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT convertible. However, the Aston Martin has its own character when it comes to engines, it sounds a bit different and responds differently to the throttle inputs. The Mercedes Benz is more powerful but Aston with its lightweight chassis performs better than the AMG GT. The Aston despite having the engine of the AMG GT seems to be a better car.

2022 Aston Martin Vantage Convertible Final Verdict

The Aston Martin Vantage Convertible is such an exceptional piece of machinery. It lures all the buyers with its looks and its angry V8 engine. This car defines a proper convertible supercar. Everything about the Aston Martin Vantage is so perfect. It is a perfect blend of performance and elegance. With the roof down, it is a whole new driving experience. With an exquisite interior and a rumbling V8 exhaust noise, it makes driving even more interesting and engaging when compared to the coupe version. In a nutshell, the Aston seems a bit expensive but it's worth spending all the bucks.
