Overall Rating

When it comes to comparing the car to its rivals, Audi A4 Allroad stands out with it being on the expensive side of the cars in this class. But with great price comes the great value and that is what Audi has claimed against it.

We Recommend

The base trim Premium offers so many features but the Premium Plus trim is the best feature available in the A4 Allroad. The Premium Plus trim gets features better than the Premium trim and if more value for money too. The prestige trim costs a lot higher than the Premium Plus and it won't be a good idea to spend a hefty amount of money for some additional features to the Premium Plus.

2018 Audi A4 allroad Wagon Engine

7.8/10

"The 2018 Audi Allroad delivers better performance than most other wagons. Its turbocharged engine provides plenty of power, though it doesn’t get great fuel economy, and the transmission is sluggish at times. All-wheel drive comes standard. The Allroad handles well on the pavement, and it’s also fairly capable if you head off-road."- Cars.USnews

Engine and Transmission

A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a seven-speed, dual clutch automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive are standard on all the trims of the Allroad. The engine is capable of delivering the power of 252 hp at 5000 RPM and a torque of 273 pound-feet. This powerful engine comes mated to a 7-speed Automatic transmission which is quite sluggish and you will have to scuffle with the accelerator.

Audi A4 Allroad has a powerful engine when compared to its rivals in this segment. But that power doesn’t come free but at a cost of about $6,000 more. While Audi A4 Allroad provides a power of 22 hp for $44,500, Land Rover Discovery Sport delivers 237 hp for $37,795, Volvo V60 delivers 240 hp for $38,250 and Jaguar E-Pace gives 246 hp for $38,600.

Acceleration

The Audi A4 Allroad accelerates impressively and races to higher speeds in a small amount of time. However, it responds a bit slow when you re-tap the pedal while accelerating. It reaches the 0-60 MPH mark in just 5.3 sec, making it the quickest amongst its rivals.

The 2018 Audi A4 Allroad has the quickest 0-60 MPH time in this segment making it the leader amongst its competitors. Moreover, in the quarter-mile test, the Audi A4 Allroad dusts its rivals and takes just 14.1 seconds to reach quarter-mile.

Handling and Steering

The steering is quite light and responsive, so it’s easy to go around the parking lot. The car handles pretty decently on the curves and along the pavements making the ride smooth. The handle responds well and gives a perfect feel of the road to the driver.

The new adaptive air suspension allows you to go off-roading in this beast. The suspension offers decent comfort and you won’t feel much bumps or potholes inside the A4 Allroad. However, the Land Rover Discovery Sport has got the best and the smoothest handling.

Braking

The brake pedal is quite soft and modulates easily. Tap the brake pedal and the car starts to slow down. To prevent a collision, there is a Pre-sense safety system as standard that stops the car from a collision. The car is equipped with front and rear discs and both of them are quite capable of stopping the wagon.

The Audi A4 Allroad takes just 119 ft to stop the car from 60 MPH which is surprisingly good for a wagon. The fastest to a standstill is the Volvo V60 that comes to halt in just 111 feet from 60 MPH. Land Rover Discovery Sport, however, loses badly with a 60-0 distance of 133 ft.

2018 Audi A4 allroad Wagon Fuel Economy

The Audi A4 Allroad has a mileage of 22 mpg in the city, 30 on the highway and a combined mileage of 25 mpg. The improved fuel economy can be credited to the new Quattro system which idles the rear-axle and enhance fuel economy.

2018 Audi A4 allroad Wagon Interior

8.4/10

"The Allroad's cabin is functionally and aesthetically one of the best in class, and it's highly accommodating of drivers of all sizes. The car is easy to access, see out of and place on the road. It sits just a hair taller than the standard A4, so step-in and liftover heights are barely affected."- Edmunds

Seating and Comfort

The Allroad's cabin is one of the best in class in terms of space, tech, and features. Front seats are pretty comfortable and offer decent support for a comfortable ride. There's enough legroom and headroom available at the rear for a 6-footer to sit comfortably.

Getting in and out of the car is pretty easy as the doors open wide and provide ample space for one to enter in the car. Even the tall person won't have to stoop much because of the higher roof of the A4 Allroad. The seats are flat backed and can cause problems when traveling long distance.

Interior Features

Let's see what we comfort and other features we can enjoy while sitting inside this car:

  • Front air conditioning, dual zone automatic
  • Rear air conditioning, with separate controls
  • Driver and front passenger heated-cushion, heated-seatback, heated front seats
  • Leather Seat trim

Infotainment

The A4 Allroad Quattro is loaded with an easy to use tech-info cabin. The highly visible virtual cockpit instrument cluster puts the competition to shame. The 7-inch infotainment sits on the dash and has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, though no aux input is available. Operating the Infotainment can be difficult for the driver because of its high positioning. The system is easy to operate and has big on-screen buttons making it easy to understand.

Two USB ports, two SD card slots are all standard on all Allroad trims. Some of the optional infotainment features include:

  • 19-speaker Bang and Olufsen stereo
  • Navigation
  • SDXC card slot with 64GB operating capacity

Cargo

Wagon aficionados will be pleased with this one. The Audi Allroad's cargo is very usefully sized and easy to access. The 40/20/40-split back seat folds almost flat. A low lift-over height makes for easy cargo loading. The front seat area has numerous nooks and pockets, too.

The new Audi A4 Allroad may have ample cargo space but when compared to its rivals, it may not be on the top. With Land Rover Discovery Sport providing 32 ft of cargo volume behind the 2nd row, it leads the rest by a huge number. On the other hand, Volvo V60 marks number one with 68.9 ft of cargo space (2nd Row folded).

2018 Audi A4 allroad Wagon Exterior

9.4/10

"Up front is Audi's pronounced Singleframe grille with vertical slats, while side sills, underbody protectors and roof rails give it an outdoorsy vibe. The newest Allroad has 6.5 inches of ground clearance, which is slightly lower than its predecessor, moderately less than the Volvo V60 Cross Country's 7.9 inches."- KellyBlueBook

Dimension and Weight

The Audi is moderately heavy in its class of cars. It is about 250 pounds heavier than Volvo V60 but equally lighter than the Jaguar E-Pace. It has the second highest ground clearance amongst the rivals with Land Rover Discovery Sport being the first, which helps it in proving the stronger and powerful driving experience that it offers.
