The 2022 Audi e-tron is available in three trims which includes a special edition, and prices start at an MSRP of $65,900. The biggest change on the 2022 e-tron is replacing the Prestige trim with a new Chronos Edition that comes with many unique features including special exterior paint, interior trims, headliner, and unique wheels. However, all e-trons get the same powertrain which makes 355 hp and 414 lb-ft of torque.

Overall Rating

The 2022 Audi e-tron is touted as a luxury electric SUV from the German marque. True to its badge, the 2022 e-tron remains a comfortable and powerful SUV that at the same time offers a refined drive experience. Starting under $66,000 for 2022, the biggest change on the e-tron is a new trim that replaces the previous year's top-end trim. The rest of the features are the same as the 2021 model year. This will get you a dual-motor setup that makes 355 hp with a short boost of power in Sport mode.

2022 Audi e-tron electric Engine and Performance

"Its snappy acceleration is typical of electric vehicles, and the smooth and quiet ride quality confirmed its luxury bona fides. " - Car and Driver

The 2022 Audi e-tron gets two electric motors one at the front and the other at the rear, combined to provide an electric AWD system. The twin-asynchronous motors draw power through a 95.3-kWh Li-ion battery pack situated on each axle. The dual motors can generate 355 horsepower and up to 414 lb-ft of torque which bumps up to 402 hp and 490 lb-ft of torque in Sport mode for a brief period. The power delivery on the e-tron is similar to what is seen in other electric vehicles, dab the accelerator pedal and it lurches ahead. Sport mode enables driving on the edge by making use of all power on tap. The power delivery is rear-biased but the electric AWD ensures sufficient grip on all kinds of road conditions.

2022 Audi e-Tron electric SUV Engine Bay

The e-tron is despite its heavy battery pack quick to build pace. Bury the accelerator pedal and the e-tron will go from 0-60 MPH in 5.5 seconds with Sport mode engaged while without Sport mode it takes two-tenths of a second more to hit the 60 MPH mark. The ride quality of the e-tron is plush, typical of Audi cars. While in the absence of an ICE engine the cabin is quiet and the ride is serene. The handling of the e-tron is sharp and due to its heavyweight, it remains planted while going in a straight line. While around the twisties you will feel its massive curb weight.

2022 Audi e-Tron

As for the braking performance, the e-tron disappoints a bit here. The braking bite isn't consistent and the regenerative braking cannot be set very high so that you can drive with only one pedal. Stopping from 60-0 MPH, the 2022 e-tron took 185 feet which is way over the segment average.

The Tesla Model Y does come with the same seating capacity but offers more space. The Model Y also makes more power and offers better performance and driving range.

2021 Tesla Model Y

However, the Audi does offer a nicer interior and much more premium features. That said, the Tesla Model Y is much more affordable than the e-tron making it a better option.

2022 Audi e-tron Vs. 2021 Jaguar I-Pace

The Jaguar I-Pace makes more power and offers much better performance than the e-tron, it even offers more range than it. On the inside, the I-Pace does offer an equally premium interior but offers marginally lesser cargo area than the e-tron.

2021 Jaguar I-Pace

While the rear seats are more spacious on the e-tron compared to the I-Pace. That said, the Jaguar charges $4,000 more than the e-tron which makes the e-tron look like a better option against it.

2022 Audi e-tron Vs. 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-e

The Ford Mustang Mach-e like the other competition offers better performance than the e-tron but makes lesser power. It also offers a better driving range than the e-tron, 48-miles more.
