Release Date

The release date of the 2022 Audi e-tron is still awaited as there is no date finalized for the launch yet. However, it is expected to be launched by summer 2021 or latest by the end of 2021.

2022 Audi e-tron electric Engine and Performance

The 2022 Audi e-tron engine offers a Quattro all-wheel-drive system that provides better traction over off-roading conditions with a setup of twin-asynchronous motors which are run by a 95.3 kWh Li-ion battery pack on each axle. The dual motors have the capacity of generating 355 horsepower and up to 414 lb-ft of torque.

You can even change between the modes; in Sport mode, the performance figures are briefly pushed to 402 hp and 490 lb-ft torque. Sport mode enables driving on the edge by making use of all power on tap. The e-Quattro system makes the driving grippy and comfortable. This system can be found in the TT, A3, S3, and RS3 and some of the SUVs.

There is no traditional gearbox to play with but each motor gets its own 1-speed transmission. e-tron is an SUV so it is able to tackle every roughest and nastier terrain with utmost ease. However, they lack in offering the engagement that comes with gasoline-powered engines. In 5.5 seconds, this car can go from a standstill to 60mph. It has a quarter-mile time of 13.8 seconds and has a top speed of 124 mph.

As usual, it is Tesla being more powerful in the competition but it comes off as a bit expensive. The Audi e-tron is the least expensive and puts out equivalent performance to EQC and I-Pace on paper. Jag comes off as slightly expensive to Audi and that is justified by its torque figures.

2022 Audi e-tron electric Fuel Economy

The problem arises in the range and charging. However, you can bet that electric SUVs are budget-friendly. If you want to know the MPGe figures of the 2022 Audi e-tron, then you will have to wait for a little as the figures are not released yet, but still, you can assume it will be close to 78 miles on a single charge. It offers a range of 222 miles, which is a bit lesser than its competitors.

For recharging e-tron, you can use a 240-volt outlet at home while in public you can use a Level 2 charging station. It can even be done with a domestic connection. For getting fully charged from 0 to 100%, it takes almost 10.5 hours when it is plugged at your home connection.

As usual, Tesla offers the best MPGe figures among the competition with the Jag trailing behind it. EQC offers the least economy; maybe that is why the company has delayed its launch in the US.

2022 Audi e-tron electric Interior

Talking about the e-tron interior, it is spacious and massive. It has a seating arrangement of 5 people and has the utmost comfort in every seat. The interior is very expensive and luxurious too. In the Premium trim, the front row driver seats come with an 8-way power adjust facility. For the front passenger seats, it has 4-way power adjustability with heating function.

Also, it offers leather upholstery with a choice of four colors. The same features can be seen in Premium Plus trim with the add-on feature of ventilated seats. The Prestige trim has 8-way power-adjustable sports contour seats for the front row along with heating, ventilation, and massage functions. It gets leather seats with a choice of three color options. In all the trims, 4-zone climate control is offered as standard.

Going ahead, it has a wide grille which is encased between the digital matrix LED headlights.

Featuring more in the exterior is the 20” wheels having a 5-spoke turbine design. The black optics package in the exterior option is available on the Premium Plus and Prestige trims. • Full LED Headlights

Altogether, it received the highest rating of good in all the six crash tests along with a good rating for road illumination ahead. The 2022 Audi e-tron is equipped with the same safety features which it has in the 2021 model. However, let’s go through a quick recap of those safety measures or features. 2022 Audi e-tron electric Competition

2022 Audi e-tron Vs. 2022 Tesla Model X

The competition is tougher between these two. Audi e-tron is only good in its cargo space when compared to it. Rest in all parameters, it is lesser in terms of range and power. Tesla Model X can render gasoline-powered SUVs obsolete. It is costlier too in comparison to the Audi e-tron. Hence, it offers a class-leading extraordinary range. But, usually, in most of the categories, Tesla Model X leaves the Audi e-tron behind.

2022 Audi e-tron Vs. 2021 Jaguar I-PACE

When it comes to competing with others, the Audi e-tron proves to be weaker. The only area where I-PACE lacks is the road presence and after-sales service. Rest, I-PACE is a more powerful SUV than e-tron. For everyday commuting, Audi is very good. It has sufficient power and the interior is just breath-taking. However, this fact can't be denied that efficiency and agility are Jaguar's cup of tea.

2022 Audi e-tron Vs. 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQC

More cargo space and spacious cabins are offered by Audi in comparison to EQC. The economy of EQC is better however, acceleration and ride quality are almost similar in both cars. Audi has a bit complicated technology layout which takes a little time to get used to while on the other hand, EQC has a more advanced technological feature that makes it worth it.

2022 Audi e-tron electric Final Verdict

If you see from the perspective of performance and range, then the 2022 e-tron would not be a fit choice. However, you can experience a flawless drive like every electric SUV in its segment. For better performance, you can rather go for Tesla Model X. Rest there is no harm in trying the 2022 e-tron.
