2020 Audi e-tron GT Preview, Specs, Release Date

Debuting as a new four-door electric Coupe concept, the Audi e-tron GT marked its presence at the Los Angeles auto show as a true show-stopper. Undoubtedly, the e-tron GT concept was a star of the LA auto show. The reveal was carried out by none other than Robert Downey Jr., which gives us an idea about its appearance in the upcoming “Avengers 4” movie.

The E-Tron GT propels a whopping 590 hp from its all-electric powertrain. The production is set to happen in 2020, following the much-anticipated launch of the E-tron Sportback and E-tron SUV. At its arrival at showrooms, the Audi e-tron GT will be Audi’s third production electric vehicle. The carmaker believes that the well-proportioned car will surely appeal lots to potential EV buyers.

2020  Audi e-tron GT Powertrain

Just like a regular electric car, the e-tron GT concept comes with a flat-floor design to support the 90 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The power is transmitted to two efficient synchronous motors- one present up in the front and one at the rear. The top speed has been limited to 149 mph, which also extends the range part. Power is delivered to all the wheels, and the ride is handled by all-wheel steering. The estimated range of the 2020 e-tron is 248.5 miles, thanks to the 800-volt charging system. The e-tron can be charged from null to 80 percent in just 20 minutes.

2020  Audi e-tron GT Design

As far as the design is concerned, the Audi e-tron resembles the new Audi A7. The four-seat layout and sloping roof make it distinctly Audi car. The rear taillamp is very pleasing as it stretches across the liftgate, and expands throughout the fenders. The e-tron stands on 22-inch wheels with 285/30-size tires. The e-tron concept measures 16.2 inches in length, making it a fairly long coupe. The Coupe’s low center of gravity is very much similar to that of the Audi R8. Audi has also fitted the concept with air vents in the wheel arches and a rear diffuser.

2020  Audi e-tron GT Interior

With the installed touchscreens for the infotainment and climate controls, the interior seems to be near production-ready. Audi has claimed that the interior is completely “vegan,” and no animal-based product has been used. However, there’s extensive use of synthetic leather and the cool cushion pattern is made from recycled fibers. Inside, we get seating for four and two cargo areas- a small 3.5-cubic foot and a large 15.9-cubic-foot trunk. Audi’s standard virtual cockpit is complemented by a large touchscreen in the center console, which consists of connectivity, navigation, and entertainment features. In order to better your performance, you get to choose the Drive Select modes, which offers five configurations as per your convenience: Efficiency, Comfort, Dynamic, Auto and Individual.

The GT's cabin is light and spacious irrespective of its design. The rear seats are very comfy and trunk offers enough trunk to qualify as a Coupe. Since, it is now in the concept phase, there’s a lot of concept touch in the interior such as carpets made from fishing nets, and other natural products. However, people would love to find the best charging time offered by the GT concept.

2020  Audi e-tron GT Availability

The Volkswagen Audi Group has committed to invest around $2 billion in expanding the vehicle charging infrastructure through partner Electrify America. It is indeed a great to move to attract good number of EV buyers. Audi and other market players are heavily investing in the future of electric cars. With the introduction of the e-tron, we believe that the carmaker has made a path for future cars. The production model Audi e-tron GT concept will be out for deliveries by early 2021. Keep following carhp for more updates on the 2020 Audi e-tron GT.
