One of Audi's best-selling SUVs the Q3 does feature many changes for the 2022 model year. These include the latest MIB 3.0 infotainment interface, Aluminum inlays are now standard (previously optional), Audi side assists with rear cross-traffic, and Audi parking system plus are also standard. There are also new features in the optional Convenience Package and new wood inlays as optional extras.

Although there were rumors for the Q3 to be redesigned for the 2022 model year, it just underwent modifications to the exterior in the 2021 model, we do not expect changes to the exterior in dimensions or looks anytime soon. The rest of the Q3 is carried forward from the 2021 model year including the same colors, the same engine making either 184 hp or 228 hp depending on the engine output you choose, and the same interior continues to offer heated power-adjustable seats and leather upholstery and many more comfort features. Audi has priced the 2022 Q3 at a starting MSRP of $34,900, bringing it into direct competition with the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1, and Volvo XC40.

Looking every bit like its larger siblings, the 2022 Q3 is the smallest Audi SUV, but it offers much the same experience - Car And Driver

The 2022 Audi Q3 comes with a few changes this year, which includes the updated infotainment system - MIB 3.0 as standard, new standard safety features include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and Audi Parking System Plus and new interior trim with new optional wood interior inlays as well. Audi did not stop there and now offers the 360-degree camera as a standard feature on the Q3 Premium Plus trim. Also, the optional Convenience package now brings an eight-way power driver's seat, auto-dimming power-folding mirrors with memory functionality, and a Homelink garage door opener.

The 2022 Q3 is offered in two trims - Premium and Premium Plus with prices starting at $35,900 and going up to $41,500. The exterior features have been carried forward and so do the engine options - a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 making 184 hp (40 TFSI) or 228 hp (45 TFSI), depending on the configuration you choose. The interior leather upholstery, heated power-adjustable seats, and tri-zone climate control are some standard features in the 2022 Q3. 2022 Audi Q3 Buying Advice

The 2022 Audi Q3 Premium with the 40 TFSI engine priced at $34,900 is the one to buy. The base engine provides enough grunt for all your daily driving needs and has many comfort features like a heated power-adjustable seat, leather upholstery, panoramic roof, 8.8-inch infotainment system with Navigation. We would recommend getting the new Convenience Package and the optional rear-side airbags, for added safety.

2022 Audi Q3 Features

The 2022 Audi Q3 receives a host of new standard features this year. This subcompact crossover is available in two trim levels - Premium and Premium Plus in two different configurations (40 TFSI and 45 TFSI) and standard all-wheel-drive (Audi's Quattro system). Prices for the 2022 Audi Q3 start at an MSRP of $35,900 for the Premium 40 TFSI model (184 hp) and goes up to $41,500 for the Q3 45 TFSI in the Premium Plus trim.

The 2022 Audi Q3 will come with a single-engine option - 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 but is tuned to deliver different outputs in 40 TFSI and 45 TFSI versions. The Quattro system is standard on all versions of the Audi Q3. There are not many differences between the two trims but Premium Plus trim does add a few more standard features.

2022 Audi Q3 Engine and Performance

7.0/10

The 2022 Audi Q3 has no changes in terms of powertrain or drivetrain. The 2022 Q3 will be powered by a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 which makes 184 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque in the 40 TFSI form or 228 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque in the Q3 45 TFSI version. The engine, irrespective of the output, comes paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission and will direct all the power to the Quattro (AWD) system.

The AWD system will give it enough traction at all times. In terms of performance, the Audi Q3 isn't the quickest in the segment and does 0-60 in a reasonable 8.6 seconds with the 40 TFSI engine. the 45 TFSI version is faster and does the same run in 7.0 seconds, thanks to more power. The 40 TFSI offers decent power for city-wide driving and feels adequate, but acceleration is a bit slow. The 45 TFSI is the punchier option but you will notice a significant turbo lag. Irrespective of the powertrain configuration, the transmission sometimes make a rough shift.

The suspension in the 2022 Q3 is damped properly thus the subcompact car delivers a comfortable ride. Comfort is one of the key strengths of the Q3, but the handling isn't as sharp as some of its rivals. Though it is fun to drive but is more on the cossetting side, so keen drivers should look for other options in the segment. The BMW X1 makes the most power of the above making 228 hp and does the fastest 0-60 time of 6.6-seconds. The Mercedes-Benz follows closely making 221 hp and then comes the Volvo XC40 which makes 187 hp but is slower 0-60 than the lesser-powered Audi Q3 making 184 hp.

2022 Audi Q3 Fuel Economy

7.5/10

As there are no mechanical or drivetrain changes to the 2022 Q3 compared to the 2021 model the EPA estimated fuel economy is to be carried forward. The 2022 Q3 will give 22 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway, and a combined 25 mpg. With the more powerful 45 TFSI engine output, there is a loss of 2 mpg in all three criteria.

Whether you choose the 40 TFSI or 45 TFSI you will get a 15.9-gallon fuel tank that will give it a combined range of 397 miles. The BMW X1 with a larger fuel tank and better mpg figures does give it a better range. However, the Mercedes-Benz GLA and Volvo XC40 come with better mpg numbers but have smaller fuel tank which makes them offer a lesser range.

2022 Audi Q3 Competition

7.0/10

2022 Audi Q3 vs 2021 BMW X1

The BMW X1 does make more power when compared to the Q3 40 TFSI and the same amount of power when compared to the Q3 45 TFSI, but X1 performs better than both versions. The X1 also offers better fuel economy and range along with more space on the interior and cargo capacity. However, the X1 is priced slightly higher than the Q3, making it a good option to consider.

2021 BMW X1

2022 Audi Q3 vs 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA Class

The Mercedes-Benz GLA makes more power than the 40 TFSI engine but lesser than the 45 TFSI engine, but like the BMW performs better than it. The GLA does offer better MPG figures as well but loses out in range due to a small fuel tank. It also loses out on cargo space. The GLA is priced higher for the classy and comfortable interior, making it a good option to keep in mind.

2022 Mercedes-Benz GLA Class

2022 Audi Q3 vs 2021 Volvo XC40

The Volvo makes marginally more power than the Q3, with its optional engine it makes more power than the 45 TFSI. The XC40 does offer better fuel economy but due to a small fuel tank, it lacks in driving range. On the interior the space is similar, but the Audi Q3 comes with more space. As the Volvo is cheaper than the Audi Q3, you would want to keep it higher up in your consideration.
