The 3.0T Prestige is the best-valued trim out of the 4 gas-powered trim levels. Firstly, it is powered by a V6 which outputs 272 hp. With that, you have bigger 19-inch Star design wheels and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof. The package adds ventilated front seats, leather-colored stitching, and a 7.0-inch TFT display with Audi MMI navigation plus and Bang and Olufsen speakers.

2015 Audi Q5 Engine and Performance

8.0/10

To give you better engine and fuel options, the Audi Q5 boasts three engines for you. The standard engine is a 2.0L turbo 4 cylinder that outputs 220 hp at 4,450 RPM with a torque output of 258 lb-ft at 1,500 RPM. If you want better performance figures, you can opt for the 3.0L Supercharged V-6 engine that churns out 272 horses and 295 lb-ft. There's a fuel-efficient diesel powertrain as well. You get peak power of 240 hp at 3,750 RPM along with a massive 428 lb-ft torque at just 1,750 RPM. All the engines are mated to an 8-Speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. The engine's power is delivered to all four wheels with the standard Quattro AWD where you get off-road capabilities as well.

The mighty Q5 can tow up to 4,400 pounds of trailer weight which is impressive for a compact crossover SUV. The 4 cylinder is kind of sluggish with its 7.0 second 0-60 MPH run and 15.3 seconds for the quarter-mile. The V6 Diesel does it in 6.8 seconds with 14.9 seconds in the quarter-mile. The V6 is the fastest with its 6.5 seconds 0-60 MPH and 14.6 seconds quarter-mile run.

The BMW X3 is the fastest SUV of the lot. The Audi Q5 does not impress with its acceleration if you go for the base engine, but it is not too slow either. You always have the option to go for other powertrain options if you want better acceleration and performance. The 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport comes in last position in terms of 0 to 60 mph timing.

2015 Audi Q5 Fuel Economy

8.0/10

When equipped with the TFSI 4 cylinder, the 2015 Audi Q5 returns a decent fuel economy. It offers 20 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and a combined 23 mpg. With the powerful V6 engine, the vehicle offers 18 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg combined economy. The diesel V6 is all about capability and economy. It delivers an amazing 24 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway, and a combined economy of 27 mpg. With its 19.8-gallon fuel tank, the vehicle delivers more than 600 miles of highway range. For a 4,000 pound AWD SUV like the Q5, all engine options are delivering good enough fuel economy.

The Volvo XC60 is the most fuel-efficient SUV with its base engine, while the BMW X3 takes the second spot. With its diesel V6, the Audi Q5 matches the Volvo XC60 in terms of fuel economy. Also, Audi offers the biggest fuel tank in its segment that ensures a better range. The Audi Q5 offers the best range on the highway after the Volvo XC60.

2015 Audi Q5 Interior

8.0/10

The Audi Q5 is more practical than it seems. There's plenty of room for 5 passengers inside. The cabin remains lavish with slight sporty accents. The controls placement is right beside the driver on the center console for ease. The infotainment is placed above the AC vents for better visibility. There's an optional flat-bottom heated steering as well. With leather upholstery, the premium cabin of the 2015 Q5 is highlighted with aluminum and genuine wood accents while the contrast stitching remains optional.

As standard with all the trims, you have a 12-way power driver and 8-way power passenger bucket seats. With that, you have 4-way lumbar, adjustable head restraints, and heating function as well. The rear row gets a 40-20-40 split-bench seat with a reclining function and a fold forward seatback function. Behind the second row, the cargo space is limited to 29.1 cubic feet. You have standard dual-zone automatic air-conditioning with rear HVAC controls, sliding front and rear pass-through armrests, a refrigerated cool box right there in the dash, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

In terms of headroom, the BMW X3 is the clear winner. The Discovery Sport offers the best legroom. With wide seats and proper division between the first and second row, the Q5 has the most practical approach towards seating space. And with the manual reclining fold forward rear seatback, the 2015 Q5 opens up better cargo capacity. It means that you have a maximum cargo capacity of 57.3 cubic feet inside your Q5, which is not the biggest cargo space on offer but plenty for hefty storage. Standout interior features include:

  • Leather upholstery
  • 3-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • Leather contrast stitching
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Refrigerated cool box
  • Ventilated seats

How intuitive is the 2015 Audi Q5's Infotainment?

The 2015 Audi Q5 comes standard with an Audi MMI Plus system. It powers a 6.5-inch display with an Audi music interface, iPod integration, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, and a SiriusXM radio subscription for 90 days. The infotainment is connected to a 10 speaker sound system with a 180W amplifier to keep you entertained. The higher trims offer a bigger 7.0 inch TFT display with a control knob or joystick controller placed behind the gear shifter. It also supports a better music experience with the 14 Bang and Olufsen speakers and a 505W amplifier. Standout infotainment features include:

  • Audi MMI Plus system
  • Bluetooth wireless connectivity
  • SiriusXM radio
  • HD radio
  • CD/DVD player
  • Audi Connect subscription
  • Bang and Olufsen speakers
  • Audi MMI navigation plus

2015 Audi Q5 Exterior

9.0/10

What attracts buyers the most is Audi's exterior design profile. A distinct styling that shows unique German craftsmanship and luxury. In its first generation, the Q5 is mostly unchanged with similar design lines. The major changes include the headlamps, bumpers, and accessories. The massive grille is designed with chrome and covers the whole front bumper. We have new LED headlamps with DRLs as standard from now on. Below the headlamps are air intakes with integrated fog lamps where the front diffuser hides below the grille. The clean bonnet is wider than the cabin itself.

With roof-mounted racks, the roofline slopes down with the rear lip spoiler. The rear power liftgate has red integrated tail lamps with LED brake lights. With the body-colored bumper, you have rear fog lamps as well. The dual chrome tip exhausts are placed on either side of the rear diffuser. As standard, the base trim rides on 18-inch 5-V-Spoke design alloys. With the higher trims, you get 19-inch 5-Arm Star Design alloys. The top of the line trim gets bigger 20-inch Titanium 5-V-Spoke wheels.

Thanks to the BMW X3, the Audi Q5 isn't the heaviest crossover SUV in its segment. Surprisingly, the Discovery Sport is the smallest SUV with less weight and smaller dimensions. With its wide-body stance, the Q5 looks much better than its rivals. If we talk about the design, the Audi offers personalization options with the high gloss black package and the S line plus package where you can opt for bigger wheels, gloss black paint, glossy roof rails, and S line front and rear bumpers and side valances. Standout exterior features include:

  • LED headlamps with DRLs
  • Front and rear fog lamps
  • Chrome exterior accents
  • High gloss package
  • S line front and rear bumpers and side valances
  • 20-inch Titanium 5-V-Spoke wheels

2015 Audi Q5 Safety

6.0/10

The 2015 Q5 is made by keeping the utmost precision and safety in mind. The high-strength steel chassis and B pillars keep the structure intact at the time of the collision. With the use of lightweight sheet aluminum, Audi has made the Q5 lighter and more aerodynamic. That's why IIHS awarded the 2015 Audi Q5 with the Top Safety Pick+ title. In the NHTSA crash tests, the 2015 Q5 scored an above-average 4 Star rating. Standout safety features include:

  • High strength steel unibody structure
  • Electronic brake-force distribution
  • Brake assistance
  • Active cruise control
  • Parking sensors
  • Blind-spot warning system

2015 Audi Q5 Final Verdict

In the mid-range SUV segment, the 2015 Audi Q5 has a special place. It is not the best SUV, yet it holds great value with the available options and features. The base trim is not limited to a few features as Audi has revamped the lineup with better standard features. With the standard AWD, you have three engine options where you can choose from a basic Inline-4, a fuel-efficient diesel V6, and a powerful V6. If you want a capable SUV that won't let you down, then you should pick the 2015 Audi Q5.
