2022 Audi Q7 Interior Design, Dimensions, and Comfort

Like most modern Audi offerings, the Q7 2022 gets one of the most futuristic and modern interior designs in its class, employing dual touchscreen displays for most functions. The Audi Q7 is also one of the few luxury SUVs which offers three rows as standard. From a technological standpoint, the new Q7 gets all the latest features you'd expect in a modern SUV along with top-notch build quality. Soft-touch materials cover most areas and there's a dash of gloss black plastic to complete the design theme. With plenty of leather cladding all around, buyers get 8 interior upholstery color options as well. 

The dashboard gets a minimalist design divided into several layers. All the climate vents are integrated into a single vent that extends the length of the dashboard, placed above the infotainment system. Below it, glossy plastic and silver trims cover the rest of the dashboard, integrating two touchscreen displays in the middle. The center stack is slightly tilted towards the driver and gets some physical buttons near the gear lever along with two large cupholders. As the only model in Audi's lineup that offers room for 7 passengers, the 2022 Q7 gets third-row seats as standard. However, getting into the third row is trickier than usual, sliding the middle row forward. Once at the back, larger adults will get uncomfortable with limited headroom and knee room on offer. The third-row seats also get power-folding functionality to improve cargo capacity. The tri-zone automatic climate control also cools the cabin effectively, while a panoramic sunroof is also offered as standard for the 2022 model year Q7. Higher trims get a more advanced four-zone system as standard.

Unlike some of its competitors, the Audi Q7 is one of the few luxury SUVs that offer three rows of seating as standard. The Q7 is also the most spacious SUV here in all three rows, followed closely by the Volvo XC90. However, both the BMW X5 and Genesis GV80 only offer third-row seats as an option, with the latter being limited to just one trim level. As expected, the Audi gets one of the best quality cabins on the market, matching most other German rivals.

2022 Audi Q7 Infotainment

All trims of the latest 2022 Q7 get Audi’s MMI infotainment system as standard with a unique dual-touchscreen setup like all the recent models from the lineup. The bigger 10.1-inch display at the top is reserved for most of the infotainment functions, while the bottom 8.6-inch display is used for the climate controls, heated/ventilated seats, and other vehicle functions. Unfortunately, there are almost no physical controls on offer, making it harder to access the system on the move, even for basic functions like adjusting the climate controls.

The interface is intuitive and slick to use with well-defined menus and icons. All the latest features like built-in navigation, satellite and HD radio, Wi-Fi hotspot, and more are included as standard. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included for smartphone integration. Moreover, the base models get a 10-speaker audio system which can be swapped out for a 19-speaker 3D surround system from Bose. Audi also offers a 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen system with 1920 Watt output on the higher trims.

2022 Audi Q7 Cargo Capacity

Being a massive three-row SUV, the Q7 2022 offers 14.2 cubic feet of space with all three rows up. This is enough to haul the groceries for the entire family for a month. The powered trunk opens wide for easy access with a hands-free liftgate but the loading lip is high as expected which makes hauling cargo inside the cabin a bit tedious.

With the power-folding third-row seats folded, the 2022 Audi Q7 opens up 35.7 cu-ft of trunk space. When in need, the second row can also be folded down manually in a 40/20/40 split configuration to access a maximum of 69.6 cu-ft of cargo space.

While the Q7 excels at cargo capacity with all rows up, the boxy design of the BMW X5 and Genesis GV80 liberates more space with both rows folded. On the other hand, the Volvo XC90 is the least practical option here regardless of seat configuration.

For starters, the wide center console integrates deep storage along with two cupholders and a small tray near the gear lever, all four doors get deep pockets with integrated cupholders, and front seatback pockets are also provided to keep small items.
