So Audi Q8 has been around the corner for a couple of years now and it has genuinely been among the most beautiful looking coupe SUVs in the town. Despite being more than 3 years old now, the design still looks fresh and the interior too looks very modern and sophisticated today, while the technology is up to the modern day standards. 

For the 2022 model year though to mask its age a bit, there have been a few feature additions throughout the trim range of Q8. However, there haven’t been any aesthetic updates inside or outside. While the competition is growing daily, it will be quite interesting to see how the Q8 fairs against the 2022 BMW X6, 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe, and 2022 Porsche Cayenne Coupé.

2022 Audi Q8 Interior Design, Dimensions, and Comfort

So just like any other Audi, it’s like pure business here inside the 2022 Q8 as well. The layout of the dashboard is just brilliant and it feels very premium and sophisticated. The very first thing you are going to notice inside are the three massive displays that control pretty much all the functions of the car. This is a stylish coupe SUV and there are pretty many touches here to remind you that as well. Audi also offers 7 interior color options for the buyers to choose from. 

There is a slab of shiny piano black trim on the dashboard and it looks rather premium. The whole dashboard is wrapped in leather and there is an option to replace the aluminum inlays with a much more expensive wooden trim. The steering wheel is also leather-wrapped and behind it are aluminum paddle shifters. It is a very nice and chunky one to hold and the feel is quite good. The front seats as standard are normal seats that get leather surfaces and are quite comfortable to sit at.

But we would recommend getting the optional sports seats that are wrapped in Valcona leather. They are nicely contoured and are very supportive. It also comes with heating and ventilation functions as well. At the back, there is a bench seat and they are very comfortable. The interior of the Audi 2022 Q8 is quite a wide car which means the back seat can accommodate a third passenger easily. The knee room is just enormous and the back seats also have slide and recline functionality which makes them even more comfortable.

While the legroom details for the AMG GLE 53 coupe aren’t out yet and Porsche being Porsche never shared the specifications for interior space. So the comparison is essentially down to just X6 and Q8 and as the numbers tell, it's the Audi Q8 that is roomier at the back. The more driver-oriented BMW X6 has more space at the front.

2022 Audi Q8 Infotainment

There are as many as three high-definition screens that control pretty much everything in the Q8 2022. The most important one is a 10.1-inch infotainment screen which comes with Audi’s latest generation of MMI interface. This is a very intuitive system and we particularly love the way Audi has changed the small icons and logos to match the exact spec of the car you are driving. The display is super crisp and readability is very good even under direct sunlight. Below that is an 8.6-inch touchscreen for all your vehicle settings like the climate control, driving settings, temperature gauges, and other stuff. 

This two display layout has completely made the cabin clutter-free and though it looks quite good but sometimes the feel of physically pressing a button is certainly missed. The screens have haptic feedback to them which also can be changed depending on how hard you press, to reassure you that you are pressing the right buttons. The infotainment system is paired to a 16-speaker Bang and Olufsen 3D Premium Sound system as standard which can be upgraded to a 23-speaker sound system. The system comes with all the features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, Sirius XM, Radio, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Audi Phone Box, and Garage Open Link, which are available as standard. The Audi connect helps you drive smarter, and track your places of interest, fuel stations, weather reports, and more.

2022 Audi Q8 Cargo Capacity

Now one area where the coupe SUVs are not as good as the regular ones is the cargo capacity. But the 2022 Q8 being built ground up to be a coupe SUV by default, it still manages to cram in a lot of space in its trunk. With all the seats up, there is 30.5 cubic feet of storage which is absolutely massive.

It can take anything from gobbling up all the items from your regular shopping runs to luggage for four or five people for a week-long trip. And still if somehow that is not enough, then the rear bench seats are foldable to open us as much as 60.7 cu-ft.

The Audi Q8 clearly has the biggest boot here compared to all others with rear row seats up and down both. Partially because the slope in the roof is not as prominent in the Q8 as it is on the other cars. The trunk of the Cayenne coupe loses out in this regard while the X6 is well-positioned in second place. 

Additional Interior Storage Spaces

SUVs are meant to be practical so that is exactly the case inside the Q8 2022 as well. The door bins are massive and can hold larger water bottles. Net pocket on the back of the front seats can hold a few leaflets or files. The rear armrest houses the cup holders for rear passengers while the ones for the front occupants are at the center console. Some net pockets are there in the boot as well to keep smaller items there. There is some storage below the steering column as well where you can keep some change or even your mobile phone or keys.

Being the top of the line SUV from Audi’s stable, the feature list of the Audi 2022 Q8 is pretty extensive. To list some of them, you get 18-way power, heated and ventilated front seats, Sliding and split-folding 40/20/40 rear seatbacks, Three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with shift paddles, a panoramic sunroof with power sunshade, a four-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, a virtual cockpit, Bang and Olufsen 3D premium sound system, wifi hotspot and a lot more goodies. 

2022 Audi Q8 Verdict

Being inside the 2022 Audi Q8 is a very surreal experience. The moment you step inside and see all those displays, you feel like you belong to a star wars movie and you are piloting a spaceship. It is all too flamboyant and exciting and your friends will always envy you whenever they’ll sit inside your car. The luxury levels are top-notch and you can see that everything here is just picture perfect in terms of fit, finish, and quality. In short, the 2022 Q8 interior is one of the most premium & modern in the business.
