Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

It provides sufficient space in the interiors with comfort and technology as its priorities. This is one of the best-selling cars from the manufacturer and is intended to do the same in 2021 as well. The 2021 Audi S7 Sportback is all set to outclass its competitors in the market. Some of the main competitors of the 2021 Audi S7 Sportback are the Porsche Panamera, the Mercedes-Benz AMG CLS 53, and the Lexus LS 500 F Sport. Can the 2021 Audi S7 Sportback emerge as the top sports sedan in the market?

The previous generation of the S7 Sportback used to come in two trims, the Premium Plus and the Prestige. There is no additional trim for the 2021 model year and will continue to sell in only two optional trims to choose from. The Premium Plus trim gets all-new features for the 2021 model year including Adaptive cruise control, Lane-keep assist, Full LED Matrix headlamps and tail lamps, Multi-level heating driver and passenger seats with ventilation, and so on.

Premium Plus

Key Features

12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit

Audi active lane assist with emergency assist

12-way power-adjustable front seats

Head-up display with Navigation information

Heated seats

19 speaker Band & Olufsen 3D Premium Sound system

MMI navigation plus with the voice control system

HD matrix-design LED Headlights with Audi laser light and high beam assist

Valcona leather seats with diamond stitching

Heated and ventilated seats

Panoramic sunroof with power sunshade

18-way power individual contour front seats

Bang & Olufsen 3D Premium Sound system with 16-speakers

Powered-soft closing doors

Which trim should you buy?

Although the Prestige trim offers more functions and features than the Premium Plus trim, we cannot recommend this trim as the asking price of this trim is way too expensive. This is one of the main drawbacks of this car. That doesn’t mean that the Premium Plus trim lacks some of the features and functions. It offers many features just for the price of $84,400 and that is more than enough. However, if money is not a problem for you, then you can opt for the Prestige trim without any doubt.

Engine and Performance

The 2021 Audi S7 Sportback will use the same 2.9L twin-turbocharged V6 engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and an electric supercharger, which will produce a whopping 444 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. The legendary Quattro all-wheel-drive system comes as standard along with some performance upgrades like four-wheel steering, adaptive dampers, torque vectoring, and a lowered suspension.

All this is complemented by an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission that pushes the car to accelerate from 0-60 in just 4.5 seconds and a quarter-mile of 12.5 seconds. These numbers make it a supremely brisk Sportback and have its sights set on taking on the stalwarts of the segment.

The Audi S7 Sportback is quite impressive when it comes to the performance of the car. The only disadvantage is its weight which is a bit on the heavier side. The Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 even being on the cheaper side takes the game in a 0-60 mph race. The Porsche Panamera on the other hand has a sluggish performance and hence comes last in terms of its 0-60 and quarter-mile runs. It is also more expensive than the Audi.

How well does the 2021 Audi S7 Sportback handle?

Despite its massive size, the 2021 Audi S7 Sportback is incredible in corners and lets you push without any fear. You just need to bury your right foot down and the car will do its thing. The adaptive air suspension system helps in keeping the car flat while cruising around and gives it excellent ride quality.

Nevertheless, the 2021 Audi S7 Sportback will surprise the driver with its breathtaking performance along with its excellent handling. The brakes are impressive and will help to stop the car immediately. The overall combination works fine and makes the car close to perfect when it comes to riding and handling.

The 2021 Audi S7 Sportback has the best brakes in its class. It has 15.8 inch ventilated disc brakes on the front and 13.8 ventilated disc brakes on the rear which is enough to slow down this heavy 4597-pound car within no time. These large brakes can stop the car from 0-60 in just 109 feet. Also, the ventilated brakes help it to cool down much faster and increases its life as well.

The Audi S7 Sportback is a no-brainer when it comes to braking performance. The large ventilated disc brakes definitely help. The Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 is also good in terms of its braking performance but falls just a bit short in front of the Audi S7 Sportback. This makes the Audi sets the benchmarks in its class.

Fuel Economy

It is not wise to expect an outstanding gas mileage from a sports sedan. However, the 2021 Audi S7 Sportback does a decent job in this department as well. It provides roughly around 18/28/22 MPG on city/highway/combined cycles respectively. It has 19.3 gallons of storage in the fuel tank which will be enough to ride 424 miles in a combined cycle between each fillup.

The Audi S7 Sportback has nearly the least fuel mileage of all. The Mercedes-AMG CLS 63 does a better job in terms of fuel efficiency. However, the Porsche Panamera provides the least fuel efficiency as compared to its competitors which is disappointing considering that its engine does not provide a lot of performance either.

The interior of the 2021 Audi S7 Sportback looks like a typical Audi. It is made with upscale materials. The space in the front is sufficient so taller folk won’t find any issues. The dashboard design is similar to that of the A7 and is covered in soft-touch material. All the AC vents and the control buttons are finished in chrome-accented metal. Some small bits of wooden trim here and there make it more premium. The steering wheel is very light and smooth and the buttons on the steering wheel are nicely arranged and are very straightforward.

2021 Audi S7 Sportback front seats

The 2021 Audi S7 Sportback seats five people in two rows. The front seats are cushioned and are very comfortable. Cloth seats come as standard on the 2021 Audi S7 Sportback which can be upgraded to leather seats. The armrest is wide and comfortable for both the driver as well as the passenger. The space towards the rear is sufficient. Three adults can easily sit at the back. Overall the entire interior of the 2021 Audi S7 Sportback feels premium and futuristic.

All of the above competitors hit the same ballpark when it comes to the interior passenger space. The Audi S7 Sportback has the best cargo space in its class and is way ahead of its competition in this regard. The Mercedes-AMG CLS 63 has the least cargo space as compared to its rivals at just 11.9 cu-ft. Some of the standout interior features are as follows:

  • Fully automatic panoramic sunroof
  • 12-way power-adjustable seats
  • Heated and ventilated front and rear seats
  • Massaging front seats
  • Power soft closing doors
  • Four-zone climate control

What’s there to keep you entertained?

Audi is one of the best when it comes to technology and this continues in the 2021 Audi S7 Sportback as well. The 2021 Audi S7 Sportback has a dual unit infotainment display which means it has a 12.3-inch LCD touchscreen infotainment system along with a 10.1-inch infotainment display. The displays are of good quality and there is no screen glare issue even in bright sunlight. The touchscreen is very responsive and is straightforward to use. It has Bluetooth connectivity with which you can connect your smartphone with the infotainment system.

It has plenty of USB ports and Auxiliary ports as well. You can listen to your favorite radio station with the help of SiriusXM satellite radio. It also has a 10GB hard drive along with a memory card slot in which you can store all of your songs. A 4G LTE WiFi hotspot will ensure a stable internet connection in your car. It also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in its tech suite. Voice recognition will directly take you to your desired menu without the hassle of browsing. There is a 16-speaker Bang and Olufsen premium stereo system which can be upgraded to a 19-speaker Bang and Olufsen premium audio system that will take the party to the roads. Finally, it has a satellite navigation system that is accurate and works perfectly fine. Some of the highlights of the infotainment system are as follows:

  • 12.3-inch LCD touchscreen infotainment system along with a 10.1-inch infotainment display
  • Bluetooth Connectivity
  • 10 GB hard drive
  • 16-speaker Bang and Olufsen premium stereo system
  • Optional 19-speaker Bang and Olufsen premium audio system
  • SiriusXM satellite radio

  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • 4G LTE WiFi hotspot
  • Satellite navigation system

The 2021 model year for the Audi S7 Sportback has the same sense of style as that of the 2020 model year but with some minor upgrades. The wheels will be changed from 20-inch to 21-inch. The exterior of the S7 is one of its biggest selling points. The front bumper has a sinister look with chrome accents all around. The biggest highlight of the 2021 Audi S7 Sportback is the full LED HD Matrix headlamps and taillamps with a unique animation.

The Audi S7 Sportback is shorter in length as compared to its rivals still it manages to offer a good interior and the best cargo space in its class. It is also one of the heaviest cars out of all which is a bit of a downgrade. The Porsche Panamera being a lighter car feels smooth and nimble to ride. The Lexus LS 500 F Sport is the longest car of all and also has the longest wheelbase. Some of the standout exterior features are as follows:

  • 21-inch alloy wheels
  • HD Matrix-design LED headlights
  • LED taillights
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Adaptive rear spoiler

In the case of a sports sedan like the 2021 Audi S7 Sportback, NHTSA has not rated it yet. The Audi S7 Sportback was not one of the crash test subjects of IIHS as well because the price of the car is very high and becomes difficult for an independent organization to perform crash tests for the same. However, we believe that with the inclusion of the latest tech and safety features as well as a rigid unibody chassis, it will score wonders in the crash tests.

Some of the safety features of the 2021 Audi S7 Sportback includes anti-lock brakes, stability control, front and rear parking sensors, front knee airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, and automatic headlamps, and wipers. It also includes a top view camera system for better outward vision. Some of the standout safety features are as follows:

  • High-definition surround vision camera
  • Forward collision warning
  • Lane departure warning system
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • ParkAssist with front and rear parking sensors
  • Optional adaptive cruise control
  • Optional traffic jam assist and turn assist

2021 Audi S7 Sportback vs 2021 Mercedes-AMG CLS 53

The Mercedes-Benz AMG CLS 53 is definitely the top contender for the Audi S7 Sportback. One of the main selling points of the Mercedes is the top-notch interior quality with adequate interior space. It also has a better fuel economy than the S7 Sportback. All this with a $4500 lesser price than the Audi. However, Audi takes the prize in the performance category.

2021 Audi S7 Sportback vs 2021 Porsche Panamera

The Porsche Panamera is the most expensive in this class and probably also the worst as compared to its competitors. It has a very sluggish acceleration and the least cargo space in its class. The only good thing about the Panamera is the world-famous Porsche gearbox which is slick and makes the car fun to ride. Meanwhile, the Audi S7 Sportback wins in every other factor.

2021 Audi S7 Sportback vs 2021 Lexus LS 500 F Sport

The Lexus 500 F Sport looks better and is one of the fan favorites in terms of its exterior design, all thanks to its signature chrome grille. However, the Audi S7 Sportback is also beautiful in terms of its exterior design. Also, the S7 Sportback is techier and is loaded with modern features and hence remains the better pick.

2021 Lexus LS 500 F Sport

Final Verdict

The 2021 Audi S7 Sportback is loaded with the latest tech and features along with top-notch performance and exceptional handling. The exterior styling of the car is truly a masterpiece. It also has an excellent interior and cargo space that makes it practical at the same time. All these prove why this car is selling like hotcakes. So, if you are planning to buy the 2021 Audi S7 Sportback then you have made the right choice.
