2022 Bentley Continental GT Speed Release Date 

Bentley has officially not released a specific timeline for the launch of the 2022 Continental GT Speed Coupe but we expect it to be later this year and we expect a price hike, especially after the post-pandemic times. 

The 2022 Bentley Continental GT speed Coupe will not be for the faint-hearted. It will be equipped with a massive 6.0L twin-turbo W-12 engine producing about 650 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. It will be mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission for seamless shifts and better response times. A W-configuration is more compact than a V-configuration and provides more space for other components under the hood. The monstrous power will be transferred to all four wheels. 

Bentley has also implemented all wheel steering and torque vectoring by electronically limited-slip differential which aids with more agility. The GT Speed is expected to do a 0-60 mph run in under 3.5 seconds and a quarter-mile drag would be completed in about 11.7 seconds. The performance can be considered as mind-boggling especially when considering its curb weight of 5029 pounds. The ginormous torque from the engine will be felt at much lower rpm, thanks to the special calibration done for the GT Speed trim.

The Rolls-Royce Wraith is equipped with the largest engine of the lot and offers the second-best power output after the Continental GT Speed. The Wraith does a 0-60mph sprint in about 4.1 seconds, about 0.6 seconds slower than the GT Speed. The McLaren GT is equipped with the smallest engine and is not the most powerful in the comparison but still offers better performance owing to its lesser curb weight and aerodynamic styling. The Aston Martin DB11 is no slouch and does a 0-60 mph sprint in about 3.7 seconds, just 0.2 seconds slower despite being less powerful than it. 

When comparing performance cars, fuel efficiency figures hardly matter but comparing them doesn’t hurt either. The 2022 Bentley Continental GT Speed is equipped with a retuned W-12 engine producing more power than before and it is not expected to be fuel efficient but will be very much in league with other cars in the segment. As EPA has not tested the 2022 model, so we don’t have the accurate efficiency figures for the 2022 model. 

But we expect it to be very similar to the 2021 model and thus the 2022 GT Speed will offer about 12 mpg in the city, 20 mpg on the highway, and 15 mpg in mixed driving conditions. With a fuel tank capacity of 24 gallons, it can travel up to 285 miles in the city, 399 miles on the highway, and 323 miles in combined driving conditions.

The Aston Martin DB11 and McLaren GT are equipped with smaller engines and hence are more fuel-efficient as well. They offer about 17 mpg and 18 mpg respectively in mixed driving conditions. The DB11 offers the maximum range under mixed conditions from its 20.5-gallon fuel tank, followed by GT Speed from a larger 24-gallon fuel tank. The Rolls-Royce Wraith is the least efficient of the lot and offers the least range as well. 

The 2022 Bentley GT Speed will offer one of the best interiors that you can find in a performance coupe.
