Bentley is one of the renowned brands all around the world and is certainly known for its luxurious vehicles and prominent feel inside the cabin. It’s the calm and quiet cabin that keeps the rider and the occupants away from the outside hustle, soft-touch interior for over-the-top comfort & convenience for long rides, and the high-performance engine with excellent driving dynamics are the main selling points of their vehicles. It’s good news that for the 2022 manufacturing year, Bentley will provide the GT Convertible V8 for those who like to travel in style while enjoying their luxurious and opulent lifestyle. The core beliefs of the vehicle will remain corresponding to the current version and the car will feature the same beautiful looks and strong V8 powerhouse. Although we might expect some minor interior and exterior improvements and some more optional features to the standard machine.

We Recommend

Bentley Continental GT Convertible is one beautiful-looking car, but it’s not a vehicle that everyone can afford. The car comes with a six-digit price tag but it justifies its worth with the classic road presence and the opulent cabin. The vehicle would definitely not radiate any sporty vibes, neither it drives like a sports car nor it can record impressive track times but it offers great comfort and a luxury royal cabin with a little hint of style as it’s a Convertible.

2022 Bentley Continental GT Convertible V8 Release Date

There isn’t any information regarding the 2022 manufacturing unit of Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible and the British automaker hasn’t also stated anything regarding the upcoming model. But one thing is sure that the vehicle will definitely see the showrooms in 2022 with some minor tweaks and more customizable options.

2022 Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible Engine and Performance

9.0/10

Just like the current Bentley Continental GT Convertible V8, the 2022 manufacturing unit will also be powered by the most refined and powerful 4.0-liter, twin-turbo premium unleaded V8 gas engine. The engine churns out a total power of 542 horses and a pulling force of around 568 pound-feet, BentleyContinental GT is not a sports vehicle and people don’t even want to go the track with it. For a luxury car, an engine must be super refined and its roar must sound like music to the ears and Bentley has mastered this art with their world-class engineering.

The 2022 Bentley Continental GT Convertible V8 will feature the same smooth 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which makes the ride super convenient and reduces the hustle of gear management, and with that gearbox, the vehicle will glide on the highways without any jitters, lag, and jerks as the current model are paired with the same stick. The Bentley’s powertrain is so responsive that it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph within just 3.9 seconds and can sprint a quarter-mile distance in 11.9 seconds.

All four vehicles feature a twin-turbo gas engine and Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 Convertible comes with the most powerful and torquey engine but it doesn’t make a difference when it comes to performance, It is the fastest though but only by just 0.5 seconds then the Bentley Continental GT and 0.2 seconds than the other two in the table given above. Bentley is the most expensive one in the competition and it just sits in the middle of the list but at least it can top max up to 198 mph.

2022 Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible Fuel Economy

9.0/10

While hunting for the super-luxury vehicle which makes one feel like a king of the road then how much that vehicle claim becomes the pointless thing. All that comes to mind is how comfortable the ride is, how silent is the cabin and how it sounds but still for those who wanna know how much Bentley Continental GT V8 convertible claims then it can cover 16 mpg in the city riding, 26 on the straight highways and 19 mpg under the combined conditions.

Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible might not be the most efficient one in the city driving but it surely rules on the highways with an economy of 26 mpg same goes for the Mercedes-AMG S 63 Convertible. Other than these two, the BMW M850i xDrive Convertible & Aston Martin DB11 V8 Volante Convertible both have the evenly efficient powerhouse & transmission combination. The smaller 18 gallons tank of BMW and Mercedes reduces the overall range but it isn’t a problem with the Bentley.

2022 Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible Interior

6.0/10

Not much is going to change in the 2022 manufacturing unit of Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible, it will still retain the main theme and overall design language as the current model. So, let’s start with what the current version has, the interior of the vehicle is absolutely fabulous, it’s a really luxurious place to sit. The cabin is completely covered with soft-touch/ premium quality leather and wood veneers but a carbon fiber package is also available, the carbon fiber pack makes the vehicle more sporty and a bit modern. There is a metal strip that runs around the cabin with a lot of metal trims all around the center console, control gauges, gear shifters, and knobs.

For the riders’ comfort Bentley grants the car with premium diamond-shaped leather seats with a dark stitch pattern. But the entire cabin can be completely designed with the selected materials chosen by the customer himself. Besides all these things, the seating position and comfort are totally awesome on the front seats, the front seats have multiple comforts and convenience-related features such as integrated blower vents around the neck, 12-Way electric heated front bucket seats with 2 memory settings, heated and ventilated with memory settings. But getting on the rear seats is a bit of a challenge and there is not a lot of space for taller passengers as the fabric roof collides with the head and the knee room is also super cramped up. It’s not much of a luxury & posh experience on the rear seats.

The occupancy of 4 people is completely justified as all these are royal vehicles, not just a regular sedan, so keeping the occupants comfy and having a better space is a general attribute. Out of all four convertibles, Mercedes-AMG S 63 focuses more on the cabin space on both front and rear compartments, whereas the BMW M850i is the worst in terms of space and comfort. Bentley again sits in the middle of the list. Some highlights of interior features and tech are:

  • Power tilt & telescopic steering wheel
  • 12-Way electric heated front bucket seats with 2 memory settings
  • Ac vents on the fronts seats around the neck area
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Heads-up driver info display
  • Premium leather seats
  • Optional carbon-fiber cabin pack

How intuitive is the infotainment system?

The royalness of the Bentley Continental GT doesn’t stop here, it continues to follow the luxury and posh theme with metal trim all over the center console which leads us to the dashboard area where one of the best infotainment systems in the market sits. The Continental GT has a sharp & crisp HD 12.3-inch touch display with excellent touch response, the infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay smartphone integration whereas other OS can be connected to the system through Bluetooth. While riding this convertible one can enjoy their favorite songs on the Premium Bang & Olufsen 16-speaker surround sound system. The rest of the features included with the described above are mentioned below:

  •  5G internet connection
  • SiriusXM satellite radio
  • 12.3inch infotainment touchscreen display
  • Apple CarPlay smartphone integration
  • Bang & Olufsen 16-speaker surround sound system
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Bluetooth & wi-fi audio streaming
  • Single DVD/CD slot with 2 SD card slots
  • 2 LCD screens in the front

2022 Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible Exterior

6.0/10

Let’s introduce you all to the exterior styling of the car which will correspond to the current version in the market. The front will be instantly recognizable as a Bentley with the massive Bentley grille, sharply designed badge on the center of the hood. The car will get the matrix LED headlights with the crystal effect for more light intensity. On the side profile, a strong crease runs all the way from the front to the rear end, and then it blends into the rear wheel arches. Currently, the Continental GT comes in 17 different standard color options though there are only 7 available for V8.

The side profile will also have the V8 badge & vents on the side panel just behind the front wheel which will kind of integrate with the black strip that travels to the rear profile. The car is available with the massive 20-inch black alloy wheels with big 420 mm 10 pistons front and 380 mm 4 pistons rear rotors but one can opt for the 22-inch alloys. At the back, there are the oval-shaped LED taillights with the crystal sort of effect, the V8 model has twin exhaust pipes on either side. And as usual at the center sits the beautiful Bentley badge. Being convertible means having obvious key features of a fabric folding roof which takes some of the cargo room.

The Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible is certainly not the heaviest one but it just barely touches the weight figures of Mercedes-AMG S 63, a bit shorter length and wheelbase grants it better maneuverability on curves at high speeds than its rivals. A slightly higher ground clearance strips away the luxury tag as compared to the other convertible but provides the ability to cross over some rough patches with much ease. Some highlights of the exterior features are:

  • 21-inch Alloy wheels
  • Chrome bodyside moldings
  • Light tinted glass
  • Speed-sensing rain detecting variable intermittent wipers
  • Power spoiler
  • Night vision camera
  • Power open & close trunk rear cargo access
  • Auto on/off projector-beam
  • LED low/high daytime running lights
  • Auto-levelling & auto high-beam headlamps with delay-off
  • Perimeter lights
  • Front & rear fog lamps
  • LED brake lights

2022 Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible Safety

9.0/10

The Continental GT V8 Convertible is a custom-built vehicle that Bentley builds as per the customer’s request and choice and it’s also one of the main reasons behind that hefty six-digit price tag. It’s hard for Bentley to send such a beautifully build vehicle for the crash test at the organizations, so the crash test ratings haven’t been determined even for the older models but as per the safety technology that is integrated into the vehicle it doesn’t feel that the upcoming version will be any behind in term of the safety of the occupants. Some of the main safety features of the Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible are mentioned below:

  • Integrated roll-over protection
  • Dual-front impact airbags
  • Side impact bars
  • Seat-mounted driver and passenger side-impact airbags
  • Limited slip differential
  • Tire pressure monitoring system
  • Front & rear parking assistance
  • Auto delay off headlamps
  • Child seat anchors
  • Dusk sensing headlights
  • Pre-collision safety system
  • Remote anti-theft alarm system
  • Self-leveling headlights
  • Traction control
  • Electronic stability control
  • Front & rear ventilated disc brakes
  • Blindspot warning system
  • Lane departure and a lane-keeping system
  • A front collision mitigation system

2022 Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible Competition

8.0/10

Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible Vs BMW M850i xDrive Convertible

The BMW M850i is a really good-looking car and it looks much more stylish in the convertible body style. The front of the M850i has much sharper looks with beautifully designed front grilles as compared to the Bentley Continental GT V8. The Bentley feels more luxurious than the BMW, M850i has a low ground clearance and somewhat smaller exterior dimensions that is why it has a much sportier stance. Other than the looks, Bentley has slightly better cabin space and both convertibles have ample amounts of features to keep you busy on a long ride.

Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible Vs Mercedes-AMG S 63 Convertible

The Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 Convertible looks luxurious and behaves like a royal machine. It is bigger in length, wheelbase, and somewhat taller than the Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible, this allows the vehicle a way better cabin space to ride comfortably. Not only that it has better fuel economy and the cabin looks much more premium than the Bentley. From the exterior both Bentley and Mercedes represent different looks, Bentley’s is nominal and doesn’t look as classy as the Mercedes.

Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible Vs Aston Martin DB11 V8 Volante Convertible

The Aston Martin DB11 V8 volante Convertible may not have the most powerful engine but it certainly overpowers the Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible and performs much better in the acceleration and quarter-mile sprint. One of the major differences in Aston Martin is that it’s an RWD which might not be good to drive in the cold weather conditions, an AWD car maintains its composure while taking turns even at high speeds. From the inside, both feature a luxury and posh cabin with an ample amount of features and tech.

2022 Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible Final Verdict

The Bentley Continental GT V8 is the perfect combination of royalty and performance, the convertible rooftop makes it more unique. There are some minor problems with the vehicle such as the convertible rooftop takes up most of the cargo space, rear seats hardly have any space for the rear passengers, and the convertible rooftop mechanism adds up 375 pounds to the car. The vehicle is already so heavy and with additional 375 pounds of weight, it becomes a little hard to control it on the corners. The upcoming 2022 model will follow the core beliefs of the 2021 model but the British automaker will certainly try to accommodate some minor changes to the car.
