2019 BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo Hatchback Complete In-depth Review & Buying Guide

The vehicle is known for its aggressive styling and performance. The name is 2019 BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo. Until 217, the Gran Turismo models were available only with the BMW 3 Series and 5 Series. Just in 2017, the German carmaker introduced the 6 Series models.

It is believed that the new 6 Series GT is the redesigned form of the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo. Along with the new name, the 6 Series GT is more than its name. The car is aggressively designed with an ample number of interior features. The superior driving dynamics is what we love about this Sedan. It is like a mix of hatchback, wagon, and Sedan design elements, making it a bit more interesting.

CARHP Editorial April 3, 2019

You don't get many powertrain choices here. Powering the Gran Turismo is a standard turbocharged 6-cylinder engine. It is quick on acceleration and offers good fuel economy in both city and highways. All-wheel drive is standard, helping the Sedan to regain its fame among the rivals like Audi A7, Mercedes E-class, Jaguar XF, and Porche Panamera.

As we have a single configuration available for the BMW 6 Series Gran Tourismo, you may still look out for the additional packages for the interior. We would suggest you to opt for the Premium package that adds a surround-view camera and a head-up display. For major safety aids, you may go for the Driver Assistance Plus package that adds adaptive cruise control and major driver aids.

Ride and Handling

The Sedan with the 8-speed automatic transmission is fun to drive. The car is very much driver focused and offers a good amount of balance between the comfort and ride quality. The smooth suspension makes it easy to get through rough pavements. When driven in the comfort mode, the car offers better handling capability while in the sports mode, you can relieve the sporty side of the Sedan.

Braking

Weighing 4165 pounds, the 6 Series Gran Turismo is capable of offering a braking distance of 162 feet. The brakes are inspired from the one on the BMW M Sport. The front 13.7 brakes work alongside four-piston aluminum calipers for better braking.

2019 BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo Hatchback Exterior

“As a sleeker, stretched-out replacement for the late, unlamented 5 Series Gran Turismo, the 640i xDrive GT looks the part of a muscular, coupe-profiled, Gitanes-smoking grand tourer, as comfortable on the boulevard as it is attacking the open stretches between Ingolstadt and Nice.” – Kelley Blue Book

Dimensions and Weight

The 2019 BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo looks more practical as a sporty Sedan. The design amazes us with its front fascia and sloping roof. The programmable LED headlights are the best things to look upon. The Sedan shares the wheelbase with the standard BME 7 Series Sedan.

Weighing 4165 pounds, the 6 Series GT measures 197.2 inches in length, 74.6 in width and 54.8 inches in height. In term of length, the GT Sedan is longer than most of its rivals, except the Porsche Panamera.
