The seat layout will also remain the same as the previous generation; it will get a 3-row seat layout with amazing comfort. The V6 engine on the 2021 model produces enough power and torque but has a low fuel economy. The 2022 Buick Enclave is rumored to get a new engine added to the lineup that will be more fuel-efficient than the current 6. All the new specifications and features are yet to be unveiled.

We Recommend

In our opinion, the Avenir trim doesn't justify its price tag. For us, the Essence trim is the way to go. It provides a good balance of features for an attractive price.

2022 Buick Enclave Engine and Performance

The 2022 Buick Enclave comes with a naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 engine which produces 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The base variant comes only with FWD and the other three trims come with an optional all-wheel-drive system that is capable of all-season offroading. The Enclave has a maximum towing capacity of 5000 pounds with an additional trailer package. This V6 engine is quite refined and offers tremendous power on tap; it takes only 6.5 seconds to reach from 0 to 60 Mph.

The steering wheel is responsive and offers a great feel and feedback even at high speeds. This same V6 engine will be there in the 2022 Buick Enclave. However, there can be some mechanical tweaks to make it more fuel-efficient. According to the rumors, the Enclave can also get a 2.0L turbocharged engine which is more fuel-efficient than the V6. The engine specifications are not yet revealed but we can expect it to become more refined and fuel-efficient too.

Enclave produces more power than some of its rivals and comes with the lowest MSRP making it a more valuable proposition. It achieves peak torque at lower rev bands making it quicker than most. The Cadillac XT5 costs north of $50k for the V6 variant and achieves its peak torque when you push the pedal to the floor; this affects fuel efficiency in the long run.

2022 Buick Enclave Fuel Economy

8.0/10

As there are mechanical changes slated for the 2022 Enclave yet, the fuel economy is expected to remain the same. It returns EPA-rated fuel economy of 18 Mpg in the city, 26 Mpg on the highway, and 21 Mpg combined for the FWD variant. For the optional AWD variant, the fuel economy drops to 17 Mpg in the city, 25 Mpg on the highway, and 20 Mpg combined.

The fuel economy of 2022 Enclave is average and even rivals like Ford Explorer return a much better fuel economy. Being a luxury SUV, its luxury counterparts return a similar fuel economy in the segment. However, it has the largest fuel tank among the rivals; beating them in terms of driving range by a considerable margin.

2022 Buick Enclave Interior

6.0/10

The Buick Enclave has a seating capacity of seven people. The seats are comfortable and offer a good amount of legroom and under-thigh support. The cabin feels luxurious with more use of soft-touch materials. On the standard 'Preferred' trim, you get cloth upholstery, heated front seats, three-zone automatic climate control, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple car play, and Android Auto, satellite radio, and Ww\ifi hotspot. The Essence trim adds leather upholstery, eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, an audio system with six speakers, an air filtration system, a 12-volt power outlet, and Buick-connected access.

All the SUVs except the Cadillac XT5 offer a three-row seat layout with a capacity for seven people. The XT5 comes with a maximum seating capacity of 5 people. All rivals fall in a similar ballpark when it comes to interior space. Enclave offers the second-largest cargo space behind the third row; the maximum cargo space is present on the Cadillac XT5. The XT5 has only a two-row seat layout whereas the Enclave has three-row seats which makes it more practical. The Acura MDX comes with the smallest cargo behind the third row. Some of the key interior features of the Enclave are:

  • 2-way adjustable front headrests
  • 2-way adjustable rear center headrests
  • 4.2" diagonal color Driver Information Center
  • 4G LTE Wi-Fi® hotspot capable
  • Active Noise Cancellation
  • Air filtration system
  • Rear-window electric defogger
  • Driver and front passenger visors with illuminated mirrors

2022 Buick Enclave Exterior

6.0/10

The 2022 Buick Enclave is ready to dominate the SUV market with its aggressive looks. The vehicle will get some updates for the exterior which will make it look more premium and appealing. For the 2022 Enclave the grille has been redesigned; now it's slightly bigger in size and has polished chrome strips around it. The headlamps, DRL's and fog lamps are also redesigned; now they are slimmer and get an all-LED setup.

2022 Buick Enclave SUV

Coming to the sides, it remains more or less the same as before. In the rear, the new tail lamps with LED elements give it a more elegant look. These lights will have animation and sequential lighting. Under the bold fender arches, you will notice new redesigned black alloy wheels which add to the overall look of the Enclave. Overall the new 2022 Buick Enclave looks more aggressive and appealing.

Enclave is heavier than all the rivals on the list which makes it less fuel-efficient. The XT5 is the lightest SUV on the list followed by the Infiniti QX60 and MDX. The Enclave is also the tallest among these and also it has a more stretched wheelbase which reduces the turning radius. The 7.7-inch all-season ground clearance makes the Enclave a more practical offroader. Some of the Enclave’s noteworthy exterior features include:

  • Automatic on/off headlamps
  • Body-color door handles with chrome strip
  • Deep-tinted glass
  • Hands-Free power programmable liftgate with LED logo projection
  • Heated power outside mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators
  • LED Daytime Running Lamps
  • Power moonroof with Rear Fixed Skylight
  • Roof rack cross rails

2022 Buick Enclave Safety

8.0/10

The Enclave comes standard with all the basic and some advanced safety features. The base trim misses out on automatic emergency braking while it is available on the top variant. We expect this feature to be standard for the 2022 Enclave as all the other competitors offer this feature from the base trim itself.

The upper trim also gets Blind spot monitoring, a 360-degree view camera, and active lane control. Coming to the crash test scores, NHTSA has rated the 2021 Enclave five stars for overall safety rating with four-star for front crash rating. IIHS gave ‘Good’ ratings for almost every category it is tested in. For 2022 we expect much more safety features offered as standard from the base trim itself. Some of the safety features in the 2022 Enclave are:

  • Traction Control
  • Stability Control
  • Side Curtain Airbags
  • EBD
  • 360-degree view camera
  • Blind Spot Monitoring

2022 Buick Enclave Competition

7.0/10

2022 Buick Enclave vs 2021 Cadillac XT5

The XT5 carries the classic Cadillac design whereas the Enclave looks more modern. XT5 comes with a two-row seating layout with a maximum seating capacity of five people whereas the Enclave has a three-row seating layout with a maximum seating capacity of seven people. XT5 offers best-in-class cargo space behind the rear seats but with seven people seating capacity and ample amount of cargo space, the Enclave is more practical. Both the cars produce enough power and torque but the Enclave offers slightly more driving range.

2021 Cadillac XT5

2022 Buick Enclave vs 2022 Acura MDX

The Acura MDX comes with a sticker price of $46,900 for the base trim which makes it more expensive than the Enclave but in exchange, the MDX comes standard with more features. Both the SUVs are powerful enough for all adventurous drives. Enclave and MDX return almost the same fuel economy. In terms of styling, the new Enclave carries more modern elements which make it look better.

2022 Acura MDX

2022 Buick Enclave Vs 2022 Infiniti QX60

The Buick Enclave has more space inside the cabin than the Infiniti QX60. Both the cars produce enough power and torque and these cars come with an optional AWD system. But with 7.7 inches of ground clearance, the Enclave will perform better offroad. In terms of safety features, the QX60 has more standard safety features.

2022 Infiniti QX60

2022 Buick Enclave Final Verdict

The Buick Enclave is already a very capable vehicle. On top of being a very handsome-looking vehicle, it offers pristine performance and will have its interiors updated in 2022. It offers a roomy and comfortable cabin. The cargo space is enough to carry your luggage for a long journey. It comes with a decent collection of safety features and has performed well in crash tests as well. Buick has truly ventured hard to put forth an all-rounder.
