After a mid-cycle refresh last year, the 2023 Buick Enclave is supposed to be carried forward practically unchanged into the new year. The Buick Enclave 2023 price starts at an MSRP of $44,695 including the $1,395 destination charge standard across the trim. Although there are no changes, there is a price hike of $600 over the 2022 model year

Featuring a 3-trim lineup of the Enclave, the 2023 Buick Enclave MSRP can be an expense of $44,695-$56,995 this season. Having said that, it simply translates to the fact that the range-leader 2023 Buick Enclave Avenir will cost you $12,300 more than the base Enclave for enhanced specs and assets.

We Recommend

Based on the fact that Buick offers plenty of creature comforts right from the base trim, we would recommend sticking to the 2023 Buick Enclave Essence model. Not only does it offer great value for money, but higher models also tend to get considerably pricier.

The 2023 Buick Enclave offers great value for its buyers with decent performance & fuel economy figures, plenty of safety and driver assistance features, and a spacious cabin & cargo space. That said, the higher price tag of the higher models does not justify the average interior material quality. At this price point, it competes against the likes of the affordable and loaded Infiniti QX60, the reliable and frugal Acura MDX, and the luxurious Cadillac XT6.

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

The 2023 Buick Enclave will see no major changes but will get some minor visual, trim-specific updates. Powering the SUV will be the same 3.6-liter V6 mill that powers the outgoing model and both FWD and AWD layouts will be on offer as well. The SUV will be offered in three trim levels with the price for the base trim starting from $44,695 while the price maxes out at around $60,000. In its class, the Buick Enclave will go up against the Cadillac XT6, the Acura MDX, and the Infiniti QX60.

Features

The 2023 Buick Enclave will get the same three trim levels as the outgoing model which are Essence, Premium, and Avenir. The price for the Essence starts at $44,695 and gets an impressive list of standard features such as three-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging pad for cellular devices, heated and power-operated front seats, a power-operated liftgate with hands-free function, and a premium leather upholstery among others.

Stepping up to the Premium trim will get you a fully power-adjustable steering column, memory settings for the driver’s seat, a digital IRVM that displays the view at the rear even if the boot is completely loaded with cargo, and a heads-up display among others. The Avenir gets only a few upgrades such as a sunroof, navigation, and Adaptive cruise control but it also unlocks the optional Avenir Technology package. The package further adds a unique headlamp setup and an adaptive suspension system.

Release Date

The 2023 Buick Enclave has been released and is expected to reach the dealerships by fall 2022.

Engine and Performance
7.5/10

The 2023 Buick Enclave will be powered by the trusted 3.6-liter LFY V6 motor that is found on the current model. The motor pushes out a maximum of 310 horsepower along with 266 lb-ft of torque. The motor is mated to a standard 9-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels of the SUV as standard but also gets an optional AWD layout as well.

The motor feels punchy for both city usage as well as highway driving as well. With the FWD layout, the Enclave feels quicker but the AWD offers a good amount of traction and driveability in challenging tarmac conditions. Flooring the throttle propels the SUV to 60mph from a standstill in under 7 seconds which is a decent time for the segment. The standing quarter-mile run comes up within 15 seconds.

The Cadillac XT6 is almost a mechanical twin of the Enclave and gets a similar 3.6-liter V6 under its hood. The power figure is similar to the Enclave’s number but the motor is tuned to deliver slightly more torque of 271 lb-ft. The Acura MDX gets a 3.5-liter V6 but comes in a lower state of tune to produce 290 horsepower. Despite the slight deficit in power, the MDX is quicker than both the XT6 and the Enclave to complete the 0-60 mph sprint. The Infiniti QX60 gets a 3.5-liter V6 under its hood too but makes 5 horsepower more than the MDX. However, it still is quicker than both the Enclave and the XT6 during the 0-60mph sprint.

2023 Buick Enclave Ride and Handling

The 2023 Buick Enclave will remain untouched in the handling department too when compared with the outgoing model. The SUV doesn’t pack in something special in this aspect and handles like any other midsize crossover in the segment. However, it does offer a supple and quiet ride and almost absorbs every undulation on the roads. The steering feels quite responsive at all speeds and the SUV maintains excellent stability at highway speeds. However, going around turns and corners on a winding road at considerable speeds results in body lean.

2023 Buick Enclave Braking Performance

The 2023 Buick Enclave will get similar braking hardware to the current model hence no changes are expected as well. The brake sizes for the 2022 model have not been made official yet by the brand. However, the brakes perform as expected with a progressive braking action and easy control. Despite all the easiness, the SUV takes a rather long 136 feet to come to a complete stop from 60 mph.

The Acura MDX gets sizable 13.8-inch front brake rotors and 13-inch rear brake rotors. Moreover, the lighter curb weight and the big braking hardware seem to work in harmony by bringing the vehicle to a halt under 118 feet flat. The Cadillac XT6 gets smaller 12.6-inch front rotors and 12.4-inch rear rotors. Combined with its curb weight, we expect its braking distance to be more than the MDX’s distance. The Infiniti QX60 also gets almost similar-sized brake rotors to the MDX but takes 10 feet more to come to a stop.

Fuel Economy
7.0/10

The 2022 Buick Enclave was slightly thirstier than its rivals and the 2023 Enclave will see no improvement in this area. Within the city limits, the Enclave returns an average of 18 mpg while out on the highways, the number climbs to 26 mpg. The combined average fuel efficiency of the SUV is rated at 21 mpg. The 19-gallon gas tank of the SUV offers some commendable driving range numbers but it depends on the driving style.

The Cadillac XT6 offers one unit more of average fuel efficiency in the city limits than the Enclave while both the SUVs share similar highway and combined mileage ratings. As a result, the driving range of the XT6 is higher than the Enclave as well. The Acura MDX offers marginally better city and combined mileage ratings than the Enclave but its slightly smaller 18.5-gallon gas tank offers slightly lesser driving range figures than the latter. The Infiniti QX60 is almost similar in this area to the Cadillac XT6 but gets the biggest gas tank of 19.5 gallons.

Interior
7.5/10

The 2023 Buick Enclave interior will be a nice place to be in, given the respectable amount of features it brings to the table. To start with, the Enclave offers a cavernous cabin, especially for the front and second-row passengers, with more than a generous amount of headroom and legroom. General Motors chose to go with a minimalist approach to the dashboard design but it looks quite modern and stylish nonetheless. Moreover, the dashboard offers a driver-centric layout with the controls and the infotainment display aligned towards the driver’s seat.

The dashboard also gets a soft-touch treatment with white contrasting stitching while the cabin gets leather upholstery as standard. The front seats get heating function right from the base trim onwards along with full power adjustments while the Premium trim gets the ventilation function added to the list. The cabin also gets a three-zone automatic climate control as standard and the Premium trim gets a digital IRVM that lets you see the rear view of the vehicle even if the view is blocked by cargo. Both the front and second-row seats offer excellent comfort levels and support but the third-row seats are a tight fit for adults.

The Cadillac XT6’s cabin gives the Enclave tough competition with its stylish, plush, and feature-rich interior. However, the space is lesser in the XT6 than in the Enclave’s cabin. Moreover, the XT6 offers a much lesser cargo capacity with all the seats upright as well when compared to the Enclave. While both the Enclave and the XT6 went for the minimalist interior, the Acura MDX gets a plush and feature-rich yet complex cabin, especially with that button-heavy dashboard and center stack layout. The comfort levels are excellent though it loses out to the Enclave in terms of cargo space, however. The Infiniti QX60’s cabin is, perhaps, one of the best ones in the segment which is both stylish and user-friendly. Like every other three-row SUV here, the third-row is impractical but the front and the second-row seats offer excellent comfort.

Some of the key interior features available with the 2023 Buick Enclave include:

  • Heated and power-adjustable front seats
  • Premium leather upholstery
  • Driver’s seat memory settings
  • Digital IRVM
  • Tri-zone automatic climate control
  • Power-adjustable steering column

How intuitive is the 2023 Buick Enclave’s infotainment system?

We have already seen that the Buick Enclave is quite the feature-rich vehicle right from its base trim level and its infotainment system further enhances that. The standard system is an 8.0-inch touchscreen display with standard wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other standard techs include a wireless device charging pad, SiriusXM radio, a total of six USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The user interface of the infotainment system is fluid with the menu items being easily accessible.

Some of the most notable infotainment features available with the 2023 Buick Enclave include:

  • 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Wi-Fi hotspot
  •  SiriusXM radio
  • Navigation(optional)
  • Six USB ports
Exterior
8.0/10

As much as the Buick Enclave will impress you with its interior, a similar case follows with its exterior design as well. The length and wheelbase of the Enclave are more than a majority of the competitors it goes up against and it translates to the generous amount of space inside the cabin. After its redesign, the Enclave became quite the looker and you might get a Cadillac-like feeling at the first glance. The big front grille gets a tasteful chrome surround with a chrome bar running across the top half of the grille. The headlights are mounted on the front bumper, a strange design trend at the present, while the daytime running lights sit flush with the front fascia accentuated by the chrome trim extending from the front grille. The side profile of the SUV is smooth with the curves present in the right places and the chrome insert on the front fenders feels like a premium touch.

The Cadillac XT6 looks absolutely stunning and stylish like other modern and redesigned Cadillacs out there. Those sleek yet powerful LED and the vertically placed DRLs accentuate the sharp front-end styling of the SUV as well. The Acura MDX used to be a handsome yet sporty-looking SUV but the current edition looks slightly overdone in the exterior design part. However, it does get a sharp styling much like the Cadillac XT6 and the signature jewel-like LED headlamp units. Nissan went right with the exterior design of the Infiniti QX60 and gave it a larger-than-life appeal. However, it sits the lowest to the ground here with its 6.5-inch ground clearance, making it impractical on the unbeaten path.

Some standout exterior features include:

  • Hands-free liftgate
  • Heated and power-adjustable ORVMs
  • All-LED headlamps with Intellibeam
  • Integrated roof rails
  • Acoustically laminated windshield
  • Sunroof
Safety
8.5/10

The latest iteration of the Buick Enclave is not only impressive in the comfort part, but it does the same in the safety aspect too. Even though the crash ratings from the NHTSA are not available for the current model, ratings from the IIHS show that the SUV can keep its occupants completely safe. The pre-facelift model also bagged a top 5-star rating from the NHTSA too, hence we expect the upcoming 2023 Enclave will do even better when tested. The standard safety techs include a forward collision mitigation system, blind-spot monitoring system, and lane-keeping assist apart from the basic safety features.

Some of the standout safety features include:

  • Forward collision mitigation
  • Blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert
  • Lane keeping assist
  • Safety alert seat
  • 360-degree camera system
Competition
7.0/10

2023 Buick Enclave vs 2022 Cadillac XT6

The Cadillac XT6 is a worthy competitor to the Buick Enclave and gives the latter a fit competition in almost every aspect. Apart from the higher-than-average price tag of the XT6, it matches up with the Enclave in terms of performance and comfort along with the design part as well. However, the Buick Enclave steals the laugh with its bigger-than-average cabin and a spacious cargo area even behind its third-row seats.

2023 Buick Enclave vs 2022 Acura MDX

The Acura MDX has been a long-standing and successful luxury SUV from Honda and it goes up fairly well against the Buick Enclave. The Enclave undercuts the MDX slightly in terms of base price while offering a more appealing and acceptable exterior design. However, the sharp styling of the Acura MDX might look polarizing but is acceptable too. In terms of performance and fuel efficiency, both the MDX and the Enclave are almost evenly matched while the latter still pulls ahead with its spacious cargo area.

2023 Buick Enclave vs 2022 Infiniti QX60

The Infiniti QX60 has been Nissan’s answer to the midsize luxury crossover segment and has been going steadily over the last decade. It overcuts the Enclave by a margin of four grand in terms of base pricing but you’ll get a mature-looking luxury vehicle with a sheer road presence too. In terms of features, both the SUV are almost evenly matched and it’s the same in terms of performance as well. However, the QX60 does justify its price tag and is a solid alternative to the Enclave as well.

Final Verdict

You should definitely consider the 2023 Buick Enclave if a value-for-money package is what you’re looking for. The SUV excels at almost every aspect but it mainly highlights its stellar cabin comfort along with the plush ride quality. The Enclave also starts at a much lower price when compared to its immediate competitors. The SUV also covers the safety department quite well with its standard driver assistance features from the base trim onwards. Overall, the Buick Enclave looks like a promising vehicle for daily driving and moving small families.
