All the rivals offer better power output than the Buick Envision especially the MKC. It offers a similar power output as that of the Volvo XC60 but produces more torque than any other rival in the competition.

Acceleration

The engine which the Envision uses reaches the 60 mph mark in 7 seconds and thus stands behind the leader. All the rivals are somewhat similar in this regard, except the Audi Q5, which takes about 5.9 seconds to cover 60 mph. The MKC shares the stage with the Envision while the Volvo closely follows the two.

When taken to a drag strip, again, the Q5 leads the pack with a time of 13.5 seconds. The other three cars follow it with an approximate time of 15.4 seconds.

Handling and Steering

The Buick Envision boasts an excellent steering wheel, which is lightweight and is pretty much able to do all the things expected from a car of its size. The car is agile around the corners too and makes the driver very comfortable especially while driving at high speeds on the highway. A great thing about its driving is that even at high speed, the cabin remains very silent and thus helps the driver in focusing on the road.

Braking

The 2017 Buick Envision SUV braking does decently in this regard, considering the acceleration that it has. It takes around 127 feet to stop from 60 mph.

Infotainment

While on the inside, the Envision boasts a modern look combined with the thoughtful placement of the controls on the dashboard and the center stack. The infotainment offers a good amount of features in it but Buick needs to work on it to make it as refined and polished as the Germans, but for now, it is nowhere close to the Audi and the Volvo in this regard.

The 2017 Buick envision comes with the following infotainment features like -

  • 8 total speakers
  • DVD player
  • USB connection
  • Auxiliary audio input and USB with external media control
  • Memory card slot
  • Video monitor

Cargo

Like in the other parameters, the Buick doesn't do anything extraordinary here but does just about par. However, The trunk of the Envision can easily hold a few duffle bags among others. It has a wide opening with a flat surface, which is good for inserting and removing those heavy bags.

Dimension and Weight

The 2017 Buick Envision SUV is the lightest car in this segment, although by not much a difference. The dimensions of this car are decently sized as well, leading to lots of space on the inside. When it comes to styling, the Envision stands uniquely with its unique looks which include its signature grille, smooth lines, and curves infused beautifully to give the shell an elegant yet masculine look.

2017 Buick Envision Competition

Audi Q5 premium vs Buick Envision

This head to head competition where the Envision is a no match as the Audi does better in almost every regard, except the fuel economy. The engine is better and so are the interior aspects. With a better feel and interiors, along with better ground clearance and towing capacity, not to mention the built quality, and the Envision is of no match to the Q5.

Lincoln MKC vs Buick Envision

The fight between the underdogs is pretty tight. The engine generations are similar. And although the Envision has a better acceleration and braking, the Lincoln is close behind. However, the better interior quality of the Envision and add to that, a competitive price difference, and the Envision is the clear winner here.

Volvo XC60 vs Buick Envision

Again, like in the case with the Audi, the figures and the class difference in the Envision and the XC60 is too big a difference. The XC60 does well in most difference. So, the Volvo XC60 is a much better bet than the Envision.

2017 Buick Envision Final Verdict

The 2017 Buick Envision SUV is a good vehicle which is quite competent in the underdog market. It does boast of pretty decent figures in most regards too and does beat the MKC easily. However when you compare this car with the Q5 and the XC60, you understand the gap that exists. The Q5 and the XC60, both are a class above in every aspect. However they are expensive than the Buick. So if budget is what restricting you to go further, then the Envision is a great car to go with, otherwise, both the Audi Q5 and the Volvo XC60 are the best choices.
