Engine and Performance
The Buick Regal is fitted with a 2.4L, 4 cylinder turbocharged engine. The power unit churns out 182 horses and delivers 172 lb-ft of torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Power is sent to the front wheels in the 1SV variant that we have with us for you today but you can avail the all-wheel drive system with the GS or Premium II trim level.
The Buick has the lowest power figures in the competition. The Lincoln has the best power figures of the lot and makes about 240 horses and is followed by the Infiniti Q60 and the Acura TLX which make 208 HP and 206 HP respectively.

Acceleration figures of the Buick are just decent and are pretty average credit to the low power output of the engine. The Regal can go from rest to 60 MPH in about 7.2 seconds. Take this entry level luxury sedan to the drag strip and it will cover the quarter-mile distance in about 15.3 seconds.
The quickest car of the lot in terms of 0-60 MPH acceleration timings is the Infiniti Q60 which does it in about 6.9 seconds. The quickest car in terms of quarter-mile acceleration is the Lincoln MKZ that hits the quarter-mile mark in about 13.7 seconds.

Ride and Handling
The ride quality of the Buick Regal is top notch and it does actually feel like you're being driven around in a luxury car. The cabin is quiet and the ride is comfortable. The suspensions are nicely set up and soak almost every bump and pothole. At the same time, there is a minimum amount of body roll and the car ensures that you don't get thrown around inside the cabin during high-speed cornering.
The car also handles pretty well. You simply cannot expect sports car like handling but this is the best handling you can get at this price point. The steering wheel is a little bit on the lighter and some drivers might feel the lack of feedback. However, most drivers will find the steering to be responsive and precise would not have any complains while driving this one. This isn't really the car that's always ready to dive into the corners and you do have to work on the steering wheel during cornering but this is still a comfortable machine to drive.
Long-story-short, a decent car to drive and to be driven around.
Good braking capabilities of the car ensure the safety of the passenger and prevent the car and its passengers from fatal accidents. To keep its passengers safe and to give confidence to the car to exploit the potential of the engine to the fullest, Buick has equipped the Regal with 12.6 inches diameter discs at the front and 12.4 inches diameter discs the rear. The Regal comes to a complete stop from 60 MPH at a distance of 122 feet when the brakes are slammed hard.
The braking stats of the Buick are the poorest when compared to its rivals. The best braking stats are displayed by the Lincoln MKZ which comes to a halt at a distance of 108 feet from a speed of 60 MPH. The Lincoln is followed by the Infiniti and the Acura. The Buick, on the other hand, stands last in terms of braking.

2017 Buick Regal Fuel Economy
The Buick lets us down in terms of fuel economy too. In the city, the Regal can go for 19 miles while on the highway it can go for 30 miles. The Buick gets a combined fuel economy rating of 23 MPG which isn't really great for a car in this category. Given the fact that this car has the lowest power figures, you would certainly expect it to perform better in terms of fuel efficiency but no. This one doesn't.
The Acura has the best fuel efficiency numbers in the category. The Acura gets a combined fuel economy rating of 28 MPG. The Acura is followed by the Infiniti Q60 and the Lincoln MKZ who get a combined fuel economy figures of 25 MPG and 24 MPG.

2017 Buick Regal Interior
"Inside, the 2017 Buick Regal features a sleek dashboard with minimal button clutter. Although the quality of the materials is satisfactory, the appearance is upscale, if not fully luxury-grade.- Edmunds"
The interiors of the Buick Regal feel premium. This is one area where the Buick Regal impresses us. The color combination is great and makes the interiors feel more spacious. The large windows give you a sense of more space than it is actually there. The dashboard is clean and uncluttered. The quality of materials is pretty decent and the levels of fit and finish are also good. This is probably the best you can get when you pay about 30 grand.
Seating and Comfort

Passenger Volume (ft cube)
The Buick Regal comes with Buick's standard infotainment system. The system comes with a 7 inch touch screen interface and an 8 speaker Bose audio system. The audio system is simply awesome and delivers crisp audio quality. The infotainment display is not of the best quality and lags at time. However, it hosts the navigation system, car settings and other functions. You also get Bluetooth, CD player, USB ports, aux input and also a wifi hotspot.

2017 Buick Regal Competition
The Acura TLX vs Buick Regal
The Acura TLX is the Japanese rival of the Buick Regal. The Acura makes more power, has the better acceleration timings, has the better fuel efficiency ratings and also has the braking stats.
However, the Buick beats the Acura in terms of passenger volume, cargo volume and is also priced $6000 less than the Acura.
If you want a better driving experience form the car, you should buy the Acura. If you want to save your hard earned 6 grands and want a better looking car, you should go for the Buick.
Infiniti Q60 vs Buick Regal
The Infiniti Q60 is yet another mid-sized luxury sedan from Hong Kong. The Infiniti too outshines the Buick in terms of power, acceleration timings, fuel efficiency and braking stats. The Buick on the other hand, outclasses the Infinti in terms of passenger volume, cargo volume and luxury equipment. Moreover, the Buick is about 11 grand cheaper than the Infiniti.
If you ask for an opinion, we would rather suggest you go for the Buick and save your precious 11 grand.
The Lincoln MKZ vs Buick Regal
The Lincoln MKZ is yet another entry-level luxury sedan and it is the home-grown rival of the Buick Regal. The MKZ outclasses the Regal in terms of power, acceleration timings, fuel economy, braking and even terms of cargo volume. The only plus of the Buick is that it is priced lower and offers slightly more passenger room.
If spending about 8000 bucks isn't really a problem for you, then you should go for the Lincoln. The Lincoln is the more sensible package of the two and has the better snob value.
2017 Buick Regal Final Verdict
The Buick Regal is pretty much and ordinary car. There isn't really anything interesting about this car and is yet another average car in the market. Although this car has a heritage of 30 odd years, the very reason behind its success is that it is yet another run-of-the-mill entry level luxury sedan. Neither too snobbish, nor too cheap and humble, the Buick stands somewhere between an ordinary sedan and a luxury sedan.
With the base price tag of 27 grand, the Regal is a mouth-watering package. But shelling out a few bucks extra could buy you better cars that offer better value for your money.
