2017 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Engine

“Some might pine for a V8, but the ATS-V's turbocharged V6 delivers big-time thrust with no bad manners. The only thing missing is a rousing soundtrack.”- Edmunds

Engine and Transmission

The 2017 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe gets a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 464 horsepower and 445 pond-feet of torque. This engine sends the power directly to the rear wheels of the car and comes paired to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The M4 has the smallest engine capacity amongst its peers and that’s the main reason of it being the least powerful here. Lexus RC F has the biggest 5-liter engine but fails to capitalize on the power that ATS-V has on offer.

The power outputs though tell you a different story whereas the Cadillac is an absolute beast giving out the best figures, while the biggest Lexus is a close second along with the Mercedes. However, BMW needs some fine tuning for sure.

Acceleration

The ATS-V, despite its relatively smaller engine, plays it to perfection here with a class defining speed of 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and covering a quarter mile in 12.2 seconds.

We have to say that the BMW, and the Mercedes Benz are pretty much similar in terms of covering the first 60 mph, with just a 0.1 second difference separating them. The Lexus though is a little bit off in this regard though.

In terms of quarter mile, the Mercedes Benz is way ahead, beating the other three by almost 2 seconds.

Handling and Steering

Although the Cadillac is a genuine underdog under this parameter wherein the heavyweights of the BMW and Mercedes Benz are the rivals, the ATS-V does manage to shape up its presence. The ride quality is smooth, and the handling too is decent at high speed especially if not the best.

The one good thing though is the steering of the Cadillac, which is just of the perfect weight and is pretty smooth as well. You won’t feel nervous driving this beast at high speeds on the curves too. Steering feedback is just impressive.

Braking

The 2017 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe has the brakes which match its acceleration. It does well with the Antilock brake system and gives a class-best figure here too. It takes about 101 feet to stop from 60 mph.

The brake sizes of all the rivals are also great too with the M4 taking about 104 feet to stop from a speed of 60 mph. The Mercedes Benz is somewhere there too while the Lexus again is a little bit off.

2017 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Interior

7.6/10

“You’ll feel right at home in the ATS-V if you’ve ever sat behind the wheel of the standard ATS. The center console keeps the elegant crest-shaped motif going with about a dozen touch-sensitive buttons that let the front passengers adjust the climate control settings or change the radio station”-DigitalTrends

Seating and Comfort

The ATS-V Coupe is a two-row cruiser which accommodates 4 people. It provides heated and cooled seating as well. The passenger rear seats are also electrically powered. The rear seats though seem a little squished and could have been lent a little more space.

8.6/10

“Its unique fascias, wide front fenders, hood, rear spoiler, and rocker moldings are designed to reduce lift, enhance cooling, and improve aerodynamics. Its wide and low athletic stance also helps the ATS-V’s driving dynamics.”-Cars.USnews

Dimension and Weight

The Cadillac ATS-V looks sleek and stylish. It looks beautiful from the inside as well as from the outside. The German styling is top notch here wherein this car seems a little bit like the Batmobile. The aggressive looking front grille with LED lamps is a treat to the eye. And though the rear looks a little-unfinished business, it still seems quite classy.

Another good thing about this Cadillac has to be the ground clearance, which although, is not the best, but is very close to it and shows off its off-road capabilities too.
