Adhering to Cadillac’s standards of bespoke reliability, the ATS is an unheard contender in the luxury compact sedan market. It is structurally sound and is sold with a claim to last over 150,000 miles, making it a dependable option. Even in terms of problems and complaints, it promises to be better than its peers. While its sales volume is considerably lower, the 2018 Cadillac ATS’s statistics of 6 complaints and a single recall are rather impressive. Each of its user-grievance is a stand-alone issue with minimum chances of recurrence apart from the problem relating to its infotainment screen. Yet, it is important for buyers to be wary of each concern that buyers have faced with the sedan. In this review, we will delve deeper into the sedan’s performance and compare it with the likes of the Audi A4, the BMW 3-Series, and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

2018 Cadillac ATS User Complaints and Problems

Interior Complaints

  • Cracking infotainment screen: Listed as a one-off case on the NHTSA website and talked about on unofficial forums, the infotainment screen tops the list of the 2018 Cadillac ATS problems. Buyers have reported the screen cracking under the glass, which affects its performance. This is a major design flaw that can render the screen inoperable.

Safety Complaints

  • Non-deployment of airbags: One buyer of the 2018 Cadillac ATS has also reported the non-deployment of the airbags. Despite considerable damage to the vehicle, the airbags had failed to deploy.

Exterior Complaints

  • Dim headlamps: One buyer of the 2018 Cadillac ATS has also reported that the headlamps lack proper illumination, which can create hazardous driving conditions. The dim headlamps restrict the driver’s visibility, by reducing his range of vision to spot any obstacles.

Mechanical Complaints

  • Loss of power steering assistance: Though the Cadillac ATS transmission issues have been the most common complaint in the previous years, the loss of the power steering assistance is the only mechanical problem reported in 2018.

Should you buy the 2018 Cadillac ATS?

The 2018 Cadillac ATS receives a thumbs up from the CarHP team. In all its aspects, the compact sedan promises to deliver class-competing performance. However, its oneness lies in its fun-to-drive nature and an optional manual transmission, which allows it to carve a niche for itself. Even on the reliability front, seldom does the 2018 ATS falter. It has a restricted number of complaints and has been called back once. But more importantly, its grievances have reduced substantially from the outgoing model. So, Cadillac’s compact option is a dependable proposition. However, if you want an established nametag, the 2018 Audi A4is the best alternative.
