It will carry the same 6.2L V8 engine which is available in both RWD and 4WD. It will also include a diesel engine which was introduced in the 2021 model year.

We Recommend

The Escalade ESV in the Premium Luxury trim would be the best choice as it stands in a mid-level configuration and comes with a set of extra features and options over the base trim. But for people who want a better driving experience, the Sport trim with an adaptive suspension setup can opt. Overall for this long-wheelbase ESV version, the Premium Luxury trim would be the apt option.

What’s the expected price and release date of the 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV?

With no official press release from Cadillac, there is no clear idea of the actual price and release date of the 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV. However, according to some speculations and insider gossip, the 2022 MY will be released approximately by this fall with a slight increase in price as compared to the 2021 model year. The exact date and price will be published and we will continue to update the latest information.

2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV diesel SUV Engine and Performance

The 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV will use the same 6.2L pushrod V8 engine. However, what’s new is the 10-speed transmission that can make the most out of the 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque that the engine produces. There is also a 3.0L inline 6 turbo diesel engine that produces 277 hp but what is interesting is that it can produce the same 460 lb-ft of torque that the gasoline engine produces but more efficiently.

Both RWD and 4WD are available in both engines. The overall combination pushes the 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV to cover 0-60 in just 6.0 seconds and a quarter-mile in 14.4 seconds which is impressive for an SUV this big. The ESV is a powerful SUV by all means, but considering its size and heft, it is not the best option for enthusiastic driving. The 2022 version is also expected to be the same super luxurious people carrier it is supposed to be.

The twin-turbocharged engine in the BMW X7 M50i helps it to quickly accelerate from 0-60 in just 4.1 seconds. This is where the Cadillac Escalade and the Lincoln Navigator L lack behind but still manage to do better in the quarter-mile race. The GMC is the slowest, but by a very negligible margin, and considering the price, the Yukon XL can be considered as fast as the duo.

How does the 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV handle?

Despite its massive size the 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV is great in corners and the driver will feel confident while maneuvering this SUV. This car accelerates quickly and will not let you down. Although cruising is the best department for this car as you will not feel any road bumps or potholes inside the car and will just glide on it. The Magnetic Ride Control suspension which is standard in Sport models and optional in some other trims makes the journey much better whereas the air suspension setup in the top-end trims provides an even more comfortable ride.

Nevertheless, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV will woo the driver with its impressive performance along with excellent handling. The brakes are impressive and will help to stop the car immediately. The overall combination works fine and makes the car more fun to drive. For a big, mammoth full-size SUV, the Escalade ESV handles pretty well and the different suspension options offer the option to elevate the level of comfort and handling accordingly.

2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV diesel SUV Fuel Economy

It is not wise to expect an outstanding gas mileage from a full-size SUV sedan. However, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV does a decent job in this department. It provides roughly around 15/20/17 MPG on city/highway/combined. It has a 28.3-gallon fuel tank which will be enough to ride 481 miles between each fillup.

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator kills the competition when it comes to the MPG figures. The Escalade ESV and BMW X7 also provide good MPG figures. On the other hand, the GMC Yukon XL Denali has the least mileage among its rivals. However, if you want better mileage then you can opt for the diesel variant of the Escalade ESV which offers the same torque with much more fuel efficiency.

2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV diesel SUV Interior

The interior of the 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV looks like a typical Cadillac. As always Cadillac has nailed it with its interior as you can say it is the best amongst all. The materials used in the interior are upscale and customizable. The dashboard of the car is one of the cleanest and the most simplistic interiors you can find in a car. The dashboard is covered in soft-touch material. All the buttons and controls are finished in chrome. The steering wheel is buttery smooth while providing great feedback and all the buttons are also arranged symmetrically.

The space in the front is good so there are issues for taller folks getting in and out of the car. This full-size SUV seats 7 people in three rows. Leatherette seats come standard which can be upgraded to genuine leather. The seats are very comfortable for long rides. The armrest is comfortable and wide enough for both the driver and the passenger. Towards the back, there is sufficient space for two adults. Towards the third row, there is enough space for three adults. Overall the entire interior of the 2022 Escalade ESV feels premium and top class.
