"The 2.0-liter turbocharged models pull strongly from a stoplight. The rocker switch on top of the gear selector lets you manually select gears, and although we'd prefer steering-wheel paddles, it works well enough for the few times you're likely to use it. "- Kelley Blue Book

The 2018 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid is the costliest thing in the list but has the least powerful engine. All the competitors are using CVT automatic which is known for making the most from the engine. The regenerative mode in hybrids feels a bit grabby but not in the Malibu Hybrid.

Acceleration

The 2018 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid rushes to 60 mph in 8.4 secs and a quarter mile in 15.8 secs, which is a bit slower against the rivals.

The 0-60 of the Malibu is the slowest in the list but in the quarter mile it nearly catches the Toyota Camry, the acceleration timings of the Malibu are reasonable because it is using the smallest engine, but the rivals are producing less pollution also.

Ride and Handling

The electric motors provide enough torque to jump off the line in straight line acceleration but the engine gets courser while approaching higher rev ranges. The steering is pretty balanced and predictable which increases the driver's confidence. The suspension feels good, as it is perfectly balanced between ride quality and handling characteristics. The car feels smooth on the road due to its handling and well isolated cabin.

Braking

The braking performance of the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid is good as it takes 124 ft from 60-0 mph. The Malibu features slotted steel disc rotors at all four wheels but they vary in diameter.

Cargo space

Storage room in a Malibu Hybrid is less than its only gasoline powered version because of the position of the battery. The space of 11.6 cubic feet of cargo space is not much for a sedan.
