One of the main thing worth noticing about the trims of 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is that all the three lower trims i.e. Work Truck, LS and LT come with a choice between the AWD and FWD drivetrain. Whereas, the high-end Z71 trims offers only the AWD drivetrain mechanism.

We Recommend

Recommending a specific trim will be very difficult in this case as the choice of a trim mostly depends upon the personal requirements. However, for moderate work needs, the LS trim can be regarded as the most economical.

Engine

6.9/10

“The 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has a base V6 engine that delivers ample power. However, there are two available V8 engines that are better options for towing and hauling. The Silverado has sharp steering, and it handles well on curvy roads. It even has a fair amount of maneuverability compared to class rivals.” – cars.usnews

Engine and Transmission

As mentioned earlier, the Silverado 1500 comes with two different engines namely the 4.3-Liter V6 and the dominating 5.3 Liter V8 engine. Coming to the 4.3L engine, it can churn out a maximum power of 285 hp and torque of 305 lbs.-ft. On the other side, these figures rise prominently to 355 hp and 383 lbs.-ft. in case of the 5.3 V8 engine. The engines come paired with a standard 6-speed automatic transmission.

The throttle response is good enough to move the vehicle at a good pace.  Moreover, the durable chassis of the Silverado provides added stability and there is no need to put extra pressure on the steering wheel while cursing at high-speeds. The stability control and traction control features boost the vehicle’s ability to drive easily even on the slippery roads. However, the vehicle feels a little less confident while going into corners.
