The 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe continues to make use of a familiar setup as before. The base engine option available with all trims, except the High Country, is a 5.3L V8 unit that is capable of producing 355hp and 383 lb.-ft of torque. It manages to accelerate the truck-like SUV from 0-60 mph in 7.3 seconds and breaches the quarter-mile mark in 16.5 seconds, which is the slowest in the segment. On the top-tier option, however, a 6.2L V8 engine replaces the base unit and it produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft of torque. It is quicker and with better torque ratings, it also manages improved towing capabilities.
In all other aspects, both the engines carry similar setups. A 10-speed automatic transmission unit assumes the shifting duties across the lineup and together with the engine, it either transfers power to the rear or all the wheels of the SUV. The mechanics feel well defined, however, it is important to note that the Z71 trim is available only with an AWD setup. Additionally, the larger engine is available as optional on the RST and above trims.
