The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer is continuing with the same standard 137 hp 1.2L and 155 hp 1.3L Turbo I-3 engines. However, the trim lineup has been reduced to 4 with LS, LT, ACTIV, and RS trims at a starting price of $22,795 after discontinuing the previous base L configuration. Moreover, for the 2022 model year, 4 exterior colors and an optional trailer tow package have been newly added to its available specs. The heated steering wheel is also now available as standard in the ACTIV and RS trims.

The 2022 Trailblazer is simply frugal for its 30 MPG fuel economy along with a 1,000 lbs towing capacity and a 54.4 cu-ft interior cargo space. In addition to that, the base FWD layout is upgradable to an optional AWD with an additional investment of up to $2,000. In order to lease this sub-compact SUV, one has to pay $199/month for 39 months with a $2,499 signing payment. Apart from these, it has its competition against the market shares of the  Ford EcoSport, Honda HR-V, and Hyundai Kona. Unfortunately, its release date has not been confirmed yet by the officials.

"As the entry-level model of the expansive Chevrolet SUV lineup, it’s the most affordable of the bunch." - Kelley Blue Book

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer will be coming with 4 trims only this time starting with LS at $22,795 that will go up to $28,395 for the ACTIV trim. The 137 hp 1.2 L turbo I-3 has been powered under the hoods of the LS and LT trims for FWD while the 155hp 1.3 L turbo I-3 becomes standard in the rest of the lineup. Also, the 4-new exterior colors along with the newly added trailering package at $650 on offer are other add-ons to be availed of. On top of that, it tops the charts alongside others with its J.D.Power Rating of 83 in its reliability index.

As far as financial dynamics are concerned, the 2022 Trailblazer depreciates by 50% that reduces its resale value to $13635 after 5 years. The insurance, meanwhile, charges to be $1,480 per year until $7,400 is not covered. However, the repair cost is $310 yearly on average that is comparable to industry standard. Apart from this, there is a destination fee as well that is rounded off to $1,195. Additional packages like the Driver Confidence and Cruise Package at $495, Technology Package at $1,600, and Premium Seating Package at $995 can further increase the expense.

2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer Engine and Performance

8.0/10

"With it the Trailblazer is surprisingly adept at getting around in day-to-day traffic."  - Edmunds

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer has two engine options on offer depending on the trims. The first one is the 1.2L Turbo I-3 that produces 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. It is coupled with a CVT in the FWD layout for the LS and LT trims. This coupling is replaced by the 155 hp 1.3L Turbo I3 with 9-speed automatic transmission in AWD configuration for the remaining lineup. However, switching to this format costs up to $2,000 extra in addition.

The 2022 Trailblazer, being configuration specific, has drive modes such as the Normal, Sport, and Snow. This allows it to have driving dynamics from normal cruising to sporty handling to high-traction maneuvering. However, the ride still feels with its soft suspension meaning the bump will be transferred to the cabin. But to compensate for that, the ACTIV trim gets off-road suspension tuning as a standard that improves undulation dampening and wheel alignments.

In terms of 0-60 MPH and quarter-mile timings, the base Chevrolet Trailblazer has not been marked yet. But the 1.3L turbo I-3 variant is expected to have a 0-60 MPH acceleration of 9.4 seconds while the quarter-mile might take 17.1 seconds. Along with that, the 11.8-inch front and 10.4-inch ABS disc brake rotors have been bolted around the wheels to maintain a safe braking distance of almost 175 ft.

2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer Exterior

8.0/10

"It may not be as playfully styled as some of its competitors, but the 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer has a nice, cohesive look inside and out."  - The Car Connection

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer remains mechanically and dimensionally unchanged from the 2021 model year. However, the 4 new exterior colors such as the Crimson Metallic, Blue Glow Metallic, Vivid Orange Metallic, and Mahogany Red Metallic have been configured to enhance its exterior appeal. The IntelliBeam Auto HighBeam LED headlamps further encompass the front fascia as well that adjust beam intensity depending on surrounding traffic conditions.

Considering the wheel setup, the 2022 Trailblazer rides on 17-inch and 18-inch wheels depending on the trims. But it is those 17-inch sport terrain tires that are exclusive for the ACTIV trim. Alongside these assets, there are some additional packages such as the Sun and Liftgate package costing $1,770 and the Blackout Package at $650 for personal customization.
