The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer in its second year back comes in three trims - the LS, LT, and Activ, the base L trim has been discontinued for the 2022 model year. Prices for the 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer start at an MSRP of $21,600. There are a few changes for the 2022 Trailblazer which start with a heated steering wheel is offered on the Activ trim. Also, 4 new color options are added along with a new optional trailer tow package and an optional cross-rails roof rack has been added.

The rest of the Chevrolet Trailblazer will be carried forward from the 2021 model and will feature a 1.2L turbocharged inline-3 or 1.3L turbocharged inline-3 engine(s), FWD or AWD drivetrain which depends on your choice, with a spacious interior and cargo room with a 7.0-inch touchscreen with smartphone connectivity as standard. That said, it comes into direct competition with the Ford EcoSport, Honda HR-V, and Hyundai Kona.

As the entry-level model of the expansive Chevrolet SUV lineup, it’s the most affordable of the bunch - Kelley Blue Book

The Chevrolet Trailblazer was launched in the 2021 model year as an all-new model. The 2022 Trailblazer does come with changes, the biggest being the base L trim has been discontinued, increasing the starting MSRP to $21,600. Chevrolet offers leasing and financing offers for both. The 2022 Trailblazer can be leased for $322 per month for 48 months with a mileage cap of 10,000 miles, and it can be financed for $317 per month for 72 months, both offers are only for well-qualified buyers. 

The 2022 Trailblazer continues with the 1.2L turbo inline-3 and 1.3L turbo inline-3 with power going to the FWD drivetrain or AWD drivetrain (if you opt for it). The interior comes with a lot of space and cargo space and features a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front row, leatherette upholstery, and a 7-inch infotainment system. Safety features include automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, following distance indicator, tire pressure monitoring system, and many more.

Priced at an MSRP of $23,800, the 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT trim with the front-wheel-drive is the trim to get. This will get the 1.3L turbocharged engine and better fuel economy and also many more optional features, of which we recommend getting the popular Convenience Package, Driver Confidence and Driver confidence II packages, and sun and liftgate package.

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer is available in trim trims - LS, LT, and Activ, the base L trim has been discontinued for the 2022 model year. However, the remaining trims do get changes as well with the addition of a heated steering wheel and new color options to chose from.

The mechanical parts are the same as the 2021 Trailblazer debuted as an all-new model and this will get you either a choice of a 1.2L turbocharged engine or a 1.3L turbocharged engine and the option of either FWD or AWD which will cost you $2,000 more except for the Activ trim where it will cost $1,500 more.

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer also sees changes to its optional packages with roof rack cross rails and trailering package (includes: trailer hitch, harness, and bezel) and both these options are dealer installed options. The other packages like the Driver Confidence, Sun and Liftgate, Convenience Package, and a Premium Seating have been carried forward.

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer is available in two engine options a 1.2L turbocharged inline-3 making 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque or a 1.3L turbocharged inline-3 engine making 155 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque. The base 1.2L engine is only available on the LS trim with FWD the rest of the trims and configurations come with 1.3L engine.

Both engines are paired to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with FWD with the AWD comes with a 9-speed automatic. The power is directed to the front wheels unless you select the AWD drivetrain. In terms of performance, the 1.3L turbocharged engine does the 0-60 sprint in 9.4-seconds and the standing quarter-mile in 17.1-seconds.

The Hyundai Kona is the most powerful of the above making 147 hp, followed closely by the Honda HR-V which makes 141 hp. Then comes the Chevrolet Trailblazer which makes 137 hp and finally comes the Ford EcoSport which makes 123 hp but also is the slowest of the above with a 0-60 time of 11.2 seconds.

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer comes with a 13.2-gallon fuel tank which is the same capacity as the Hyundai Kona and the Honda HR-V which offers the same combined range but offers more range on the highway only driving. The Ford EcoSport does offer lesser mpg figures even though it comes with a bigger fuel tank.

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer comes with a single change for the interior - the heated steering wheel is a standard feature on the Activ trim and optional on LT trim. The rest of the interior has been carried forward. The base LS trim comes with manually adjustable front row seats with cloth upholstery.

The LT adds a heating function for the front row along with an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat and automatic climate control. The Activ trim adds leatherette upholstery to the interior. The Chevrolet Trailblazer offers a cargo capacity of 25.3 cu.ft. With the 60/40 split rear seats, cargo volume can be boosted to around 54.4 cubic feet.

The 2022 Trailblazer offers plenty of space in the front and back rows and offers more legroom than the back row in Ford EcoSport and Hyundai Kona. However, it offers the most cargo space of the above cars. The center ground is taken by the 7-inch diagonal color touchscreen interface under the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system.

Latest connectivity like wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and 4G Wi-Fi Hotspot are available for faster media streaming. A decent 4-speaker audio system is included which can be upgraded to a premium 7-speaker Bose Surround sound setup. An optional 8-inch infotainment unit is available in the Technology package on the Activ trim.

The exterior of the 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer features 17-inch wheels in silver wrapped in all-season tires, halogen headlamps, black painted grille.

The LT trim gets 17-inch wheels in high gloss black with all-season tires, roof rails, LED front fog lamps, deep-tinted glass for the rear windows. The Activ trim comes with two-tone paint, LED taillights, and a new design of wheels. As options go, the Sun and Liftgate package adds a panoramic sunroof and the Blackout package for exterior style.

Being smaller in dimensions also gives it lesser space on the interior as compared to the Chevrolet Trailblazer. However, it is available at a lower price point, making it a good option to consider.

The Hyundai Kona makes the most power and offers the best performance as well, and the Kona comes with better mpg on the highway and a better highway range as well. On the interior the Kona has less space in the back row and less cargo space too, However, the Kona is priced lower than the Chevrolet Blazer, making it a good option. 

2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer vs 2021 Honda HR-V

The Honda HR-V does offer marginally more power than the Chevrolet Trailblazer and similar fuel economy. It does offer a similar amount of interior space and marginally lesser space than the Chevrolet Trailblazer, making the HR-V, the Trailblazer's closest competitor. It has been priced at $580 lesser than the Trailblazer, making it the best option to it one can get.
