The muscle cars have been a part of the long-lived American history of hustle and bustle and so does the Dodge Charger. The beast has gone through different phase transitions including its leap from a 2-door coupe to a 4-door sedan. The practicality along with its sheer power dominance is worth a mention in this discourse.

Cons

What's New?

The Dodge Charger does not seem to have any major mechanical upgrade this year; rather a new trim has been added in the family tree with the all-new SRT Hellcat RedEye that gets the new carbon black 20x11-inch aluminum wheels

It is adorned with the Scat Pack grilles and 392 HEMI fender badges that make it appear to stand apart from the crowd

One also gets to play with the roof trim as well and replace it with the Gloss Black touch

Its powertrain is coupled with the TorqueFlite Automatic transmission

Among the various trims ranging from the SXT to the all-new SRT Hellcat Redeye is the Dodge Charger Scat Pack that comes with a special 392 HEMI SRT V8 and seems to offer all in one within an affordable starting price of $42,245. The others that strive with it in the same segment are the Kia Stinger, Chrysler 300, and the Acura TLX.

2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Sedan Features

As mentioned earlier, the Scat Pack seems to offer a myriad of offers that seems worth investing in. This muscle car is a hardcore speedster that has the iconic Multi-Displacement System in its powertrain unit. In simpler terms, a well-engineered cylinder deactivation that operates the engine with 4-cylinders instead of 8 and that aids in its fuel economy without any compromise in its performance curve. It has few other features as well if you are a drag-enthusiast which includes the Launch Control with Launch Assist and Race CoolDown.

Not just an impressive powertrain but a high-strength steel frame with high-strength steel side beams make the Dodge Charger Scat Pack a real deal. Apart from the mechanical integrity, it comes with exciting packages like the Daytona Edition and Wide-Body Package. The Scat Pack seems very enticing with so much at its disposal.

Which Trim should you buy in the 2021 Dodge Charger?

As the Dodge Charger Scat Pack does not leave a stone unturned when it has to compel someone for it. Right from the performance to the safety and trim packages available, it is simply must-buy machinery. The top speed of up to 175 mph on a straight pitch with smooth gear shifting is one of those fancies for which one craves.

Higher weight is compensated with higher power and torque that outshines others with its impressive power-weight ratio. It might not be as sporty as the R/T trim or the top-tier among its siblings like the RedEye but It is a melange of all with a decent price tag.

2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Sedan Engine and Performance

7.5/10

The Dodge Charger Scat Pack comes with a 6.4L V8 SRT HEMI engine that kicks in 485 hp of power @ 6100 rpm and 475 lb-ft. @ 4100 rpm of torque. It is coupled to an 8-Speed Automatic Transmission in a Rear-wheel-drive layout. The rear-wheel-wheel by virtue assists in the acceleration because of the grip at the rear wheel at the time of backward weight transfer. The overall configuration helps it achieve the 0-60 mph mark in just 4.3 seconds and a quarter-mile within 12.4 seconds.

As per data, The Scat Pack is the leader of the lot with leading figures in all segments. The Kia

Stinger GT does come closer to it but the V-8 prowess just gets the better of it. The other two seem pretty sluggish compared to the Charger within a competitive price range. The Charger will clean sweep them if left for a drag strip. But the Kia Stinger’s low-end torque surge needs a special mention here which is phenomenal.

How well does the 2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack handle?

The weight of the Dodge Charger Scat Pack is the downside among all the parameters and that too when coupled to RWD makes the rear wheels prone to losing traction at the time of cornering and braking simultaneously. But it seems that this condition has been given a note as the vehicle dynamics and design approach directs us towards that.

2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Sedan ride and handling

The Adaptive-Damping Suspensions are assisted by the anti-roll bars thus containing the toppling. The other assets are either the 4-Piston Brembo High-Speed Brakes or the 6-Piston Brembo Ultra-High-Speed Brakes with the Brembo Calipers that get your braking distance within the limits.

2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Braking Performance

The Dodge Charger Cat Pack gets the 4-wheel disc brakes which is the bare minimum for such an expense. The 4-wheel ABS and Emergency-Brake Assist with vented discs are quite sufficient to get the car under the control. It has one of the biggest rotors in the segment with 14.2” in the front and 13.8” in the rear. On top of that, it gets Brembo Callipers as an option with either the 4-Piston or the 6-Piston brakes.

As per the data, the braking distance for the Scat Pack seems considerably low with just 107 ft on the chart. Since the figures for the two models are not available, it would be unreasonable to comment on the braking comparison. However, being heaviest among all the Dodge seems to offer us that 107 ft of braking distance is achievable.

2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Sedan Fuel Economy

4.5/10

The Dodge Charger Scat Pack with its Multi-Displacement System tends to incline itself towards a fuel-saver technology which to some extent, it fairly achieves also but fails to be the segment leader. The V8 and that too with 6.4L has a huge appetite. Such a huge volume will always suffer to have a tumbling effect inside the cabin that will impact the homogeneity of the air-fuel mixture.

Though the Scat Pack is underwhelming in its fuel economy, a bigger fuel tank capacity does not let you fool around the gas station. A range of up to 444 miles can be achieved in ideal situations. The Chrysler 300 S outclasses others in this specification domain including both the mileage and the range on the whole. The Acura is also impressive with its number if to be mentioned.

2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Sedan Interior

7.0/10

The part of the feel for the car comes from the abstracts that are not always functional. The Dodge Scat pack has some real taste in touch and ambiance that includes the Performance Cloth with Bee Logo and the Nappa/Alcantara-trimmed seats as a standard. Further adding to that, it houses the memory function for the radio, driver seat, and exterior mirror. The Power-heating and Ventilated seatings add a new dimension to the overall experience.

Not just with the touch, it is impressive with its trunk space as well. But the headroom seems to be compromised and taller guys on a long hauling may have some real pain. The Stinger seems to be quite a comfort comparatively in this regard. The Acura TLX is even more cramped and is not desirable. But if seen objectively, the Scat Pack has a decent space offering altogether. Some of the highlights are:

  • HomeLink Garage Door Transmitter
  • Dual Zone Front Automatic Air Conditioning
  • Smart Device Integration
  • Smart Device Remote Engine Start

What’s there to keep you entertained in the 2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack?

The dining is incomplete without a dessert and one can make the same analogy for the infotainment unit with respect to the cars. And to no one's surprise, it continues to give you a lot more value-additions as expected. It includes the Uconnect 4C as a standard and Navigation integrated as an option.

2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Sedan infotainment screen

Along with that, one gets the 7” Driver Information Digital Cluster Display and Voice-Command Gestures. Further extending the list is the Customizable 8.4” UConnect Touchscreen that comes optional. One can also avail of the Harman Kardon Audio set and the standard 6-speaker Alpine unit. If that does quench your thirst, probably the SiriusXM Guardian and the HD Radio will. The highlights have been listed:

  • SiriusXM Guardian
  • Uconnect 4C
  • 6-speaker Alpine unit
  • 7” Driver Information Digital Cluster Display

2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Sedan Exterior

7.5/10

Typically American is the all-new Dodge Charger Scat Pack if one has to convey in simple words. It is available in multiple color trims including the Pitch Black, HellRaisin, Granite and, whatnot. Moving forward to the wheel trims one can get the 20-Inch X 9.5-Inch Brass Monkey Wheels with some extra investment and the 20-Inch x 9.0-Inch Low Gloss Granite Crystal wheels come as a standard. Apart from that one can bring about the modifications with the Satin Black Painted Hood that is a real class-apart. The sleekness and sportiness are something that has been kept constant in it this year as well.

As far as the dimensions are concerned, it is well within its limit and the standard figures it seems. The lower height compromises the headroom but compensates in the lower center of gravity that improves the overall dynamics. Among all the Stinger appears the most compact and thus can have decent handling when going around the corners.

The highlights in this sections are mentioned below:

  • Spare Tire Mobility Kit
  • 20" x 9" Low Gloss Granite Crystal
  • Auto On/Off Projector Beam Halogen Headlamps

2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Sedan Safety

9.0/10

Dodge has always been keen to keep improving in its safety outlook. The Scat Pack comes with a 5-star rating in the NHTSA and “Good” in maximum parameters that can vouch for its high-strength steel frame and beam. The J.D.power also reinforces its reliability with its own ratings.

These aspects are further expanded by an array of advanced features that one gets with the additional packages. Features like Blind-Spot Monitoring System, Forward Collision-Mitigation System, Lane-Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and many more can be integrated into it under the Driver Convenience Group and similar packages. The safety features that are worth mentioning here are:

  • Blind-Spot Monitoring System
  • Forward Collision-Mitigation System
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Lane-Keep Assist

2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack v/s 2021 Acura TLX

The Dodge Charger Scat Pack has an edge over the Acura TLX SH-AWD in almost all parameters right from the performance to the spaciousness. The Acura seems sluggish in its acceleration and the second seat is a little more cramped compared to the Scat Pack. But the smaller design boundary does make Acura parallel in terms of its handling and a better prospect in fuel economy.

2021 Acura TLX

2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack v/s 2021 Chrysler 300 S

The Chrysler 300 does have a responsive steering and appealing interior but as far as the functionalities and variations are concerned, the Dodge Scat pack gets better of it. Dimension wise both share the parallel platform and hence nothing stark can be differentiated between the two.

2021 Chrysler 300 S

2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack v/s 2021 Kia Stinger GT

The Kia Stinger has been one of the lightest and easiest to maneuver among all the rivals. It is true it lags behind the performance but apart from that it has a better trade-off in the mileage domain and is in the closest proximity of the Scat Pack. The cabin is even more comfortable for the Kia than the Dodge.

2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Sedan Final Verdict

6.3/10

The Dodge Charger Scat Pack is without a doubt a value-addition to your garage. One could not ask for more with regards to every package with an affordable price range. That being said, the packages that are offered along with it do the trick as well for you to go for it. Hence, it is an exceptional muscle car with enriched practicality.
