The 2022 Ferrari F8 Tributo Spider will most likely be a carry-over model of the current year model. Ferrari has not given much information on the 2022 F8 Tributo Spider but for the time being, we are not expecting any major changes. The biggest advantage that makes the Ferrari F8 Spider an attractive option in the segment is its 3.9L twin-turbo V8 motor which behaves more like a naturally aspirated engine. When you drive a Ferrari, you are not even concerned about performance and the F8 Spider lives up to that expectation.

We recommend

The biggest reason you buy a Ferrari F8 Spider is the engine that comes under the hood, and the performance it offers. You do not buy it for luxury features and other bells and whistles. Since the Ferrari F8 Tributo Spider comes in a single trim level, you do not have much choice on that. You can go with the standard Ferrari F8 Spider and you will not regret it as it offers what you expect from it.

2022 Ferrari F8 Tributo Spider Release Date

There is no concrete data on the release date of the 2022 Ferrari F8 Tributo or F8 Spider. You can expect the release somewhere in the first or second quarter of 2022.

Engine and Performance

8.5/10

The engine under the hood of the 2022 Ferrari F8 Tributo Spider is the real reason why you would consider buying one. The Ferrari F8 Spider is powered by a 3.9L twin-turbo V8 engine that has recently won many awards for the kind of performance that it offers. The engine produces a peak power output of 711 horsepower while the maximum torque output is rated at 568 pound-feet. The engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. The rear-wheel-drive drivetrain provides great traction in every driving situation and makes the driving experience very predictable.

The performance of the F8 Spider is very impressive compared to any car in the segment. Everything works so well together to provide you an engaging drive experience without much effort. The biggest highlight of the engine is how it delivers power. Unlike every other turbo-charged engine in the market, you do not have to wait for the turbo to kick in before you get the power. There is almost no power lag anywhere in the rave band. The power delivery comes instantly and you get an excellent launch with the F8 Spider.

The acceleration is never an issue with any of the Ferrari models out there. The seven-speed automatic transmission holds to the gear very well. It takes an impressive 2.9 seconds to reach from 0 to 60 miles per hour while the quarter-mile run is also impressive at 10,5 seconds. The top-speed will also not disappoint and you can take your Spider all the way up to 211 miles. The braking performance is also decent and it takes 141 feet of distance to stop from 70 miles per hour.

The handling of the Ferrari F8 Spider is up there with the other Ferrari cars out there. The steering wheel is very lightweight but it does not mean that it does not offer communication. You get good feedback from the steering wheel and lane changes in a fraction of seconds so you need to be careful about it. The ride quality is surprisingly good for a sports car and it offers a very composed ride. Still, it feels a little stiff in the city conditions compared to some of the other rivals.

The slowest car in the competition is the Audi R8 Spyder V10.

Fuel Economy

7.0/10

Fuel economy figures do not really concern the buyers of any car in the segment. When you drive a car that offers such impressive performance, you forget about the fuel economy and driver to enjoy every bit of it. The fuel economy figures of the Ferrari F8 Tributo Spider will impress most of the buyers in the segment as it stacks up against the competition very well. You can expect a fuel economy of 15 mpg in the city conditions, 19 mpg on the highway, and 16 mpg of combined fuel economy. The fuel tank size is also among the best in the class and it gets a 22.7-gallon fuel tank. You can go on highways without visiting the fuel station for around 431 miles.

The Audi R8 Spyder V10 comes with the most fuel-efficient engine in the competition. The fuel economy figure of the McLaren 720S Spider is also really impressive, considering it is also the fastest in the competition. The 2022 Ferrari F8 Tributo Spider comes next to the McLaren 720 S Spider in terms of overall fuel efficiency. The fuel efficiency of the Ferrari F8 Spider and the McLaren 720S Spider is very close and does not come with a very big difference. The 2021 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spider comes with the least fuel-efficient engine in the segment.

Interior

8.0/10

The Ferrari F8 Tribuno Spider is a sports car and you feel the same when you get inside the cabin of the car. The F8 Tribuno Spider has also taken care of providing a good level of luxury that you expect from a car that expensive. You can not expect it to be similar to a proper luxury car, but the cabin is luxurious for a sports car. The F8 Spider only comes in a two-seater configuration and it does not offer a second row of seating. The space inside the first row is good for the driver and the co-passenger. You can spend long hours in the cabin without much discomfort.

The seats offer a good amount of comfort and there is not much to complain about in that regard. They also provide good support to the passengers and hold you in place well when you are carrying high speeds in the corner. The cabin is full of soft-touch materials including the dashboard and the doors. The flat-bottom steering wheel feels nice to hold and also enhances the sportiness of the cabin. The cabin is made of premium quality materials and you can find the use of Alcantara over the dashboard and even on the seats.

Ferrari has not revealed the exact interior specs of the 2022 Ferrari F8 Tributo Spider and that also remains the case for the earlier model of the car. But the cabin is practical for a sports car and you will not have much of a problem in terms of space for two passengers. The case remains the same for the 2021 McLaren 720S Spider. The 2021 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spider and the Audi R8 Spyder V10 are similar in terms of legroom for the driver and the passengers. However, the 2021 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spider comes with less headroom and legroom compared to the Audi counterpart. Standout interior features are:

  • 4-way driver and passenger seats
  • Carbon fiber steering wheel
  • Remote keyless entry
  • Dual-zone automatic air conditioning
  • Cruise control
  • Air filtration

How intuitive is the infotainment system of the 2022 Ferrari F8 Tributo Spider?

You never buy a Ferrari to get the world-class touchscreen infotainment system with all the modern technologies. The only entertainment you want in a Ferrari is the driving pleasure that it offers. The sporty exhaust sound is much better than any other form of music for Ferrari lovers. Ferrari understands that very well and that is why they do not provide any infotainment display inside the cabin of the Ferrari F8 Tributo Spider.

Instead, you get physical buttons in the cabin for all the cabin controls which come out to be very helpful while driving. It also makes things easier instead of further complicating things. You get the only screen in the form of an instrument cluster that shows all the data related to the car. There is a secondary display on the passenger side to access some of the driver information from there only. Ferrari F8 Tributo Spider comes with an audio system that can be connected wirelessly via Bluetooth. Standout infotainment features are:

  • AM/FM Radio
  • 6-speaker audio system
  • Steering wheel controls
  • Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity
  • Real-time traffic display

Exterior

8.5/10

The design language of the Ferrari F8 Tributo Spider resembles the Ferrari design language in many ways, which is a good thing considering the fan base of the design. The front end of the F8 Spider carries an aggressive stance which will attract most buyers in the segment. The exterior styling of the F8 Spider compliments the performance of the car and aerodynamics is well taken care of by the Ferrari engineers. You also get sleek and aggressive LED headlights that go well with the front design of the F8 Spider.

The F8 Spider sits low to the ground, which is the case with every other car in the segment. The car looks muscular from the sides too and there are some sharp curves on both sides. The rear end of the F8 Spider is not simple either. It carries an aggressive design language from the rear also which makes it easily stand out from the crowd. The twin-LED brake lights with twin exhausts at the back enhance the sportiness from the rear. The roof of the F8 Spider can be opened or deployed within 14 seconds while carrying a maximum speed of around 27.9 miles per hour or 45 kilometers per hour.

All the cars in the segment have an impressive design as exterior design plays a critical role in the buying decision for the segment. When it comes to the exterior dimensions, the Audi R8 Spyder V10 comes with the biggest dimensions in the segment followed by the Ferrari F8 Spider. The Audi R8 Spyder is larger than the Ferrari F8 Spider in every way except the width where the F8 Spider takes an edge. The 2021 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spider is the shortest car in the segment but it has an identical wheelbase compared to the F8 Spider. Standout exterior features are:

  • 20-inch wheels
  • Automatic LED headlights with DRLs
  • Rain detecting wipers
  • Power convertible retractable hardtop
  • Wing spoiler
  • Rear fog lamps
  • LED brake lights

Safety

8.0/10

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have not tested the Ferrari F8 Tributo Spider for its crash-worthiness yet. The case remains similar for almost every other car in the segment. The Ferrari F8 Spider comes with a light but rigid chassis that should keep you safe in the case of any unexpected incident.

The Ferrari F8 Spider comes equipped with all the safety features that are made mandatory by the Department of Transport (DOT). You should not expect much of the active safety features as it is not popular in the sports car territory. The safety features include are:

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Rear Parking Sensors
  • Tire Specific Low Tire Pressure Warning
  • Side Impact Beams
  • F1-Trac ABS
  • Driveline Traction Control
  • Back-Up Camera

Competition

8.5/10

Ferrari F8 Spider vs. McLaren 720S Spider

The McLaren 720S Spider is the closest competitor of the Ferrari F8 Spider. The McLaren 720S Spider is slightly better than the Ferrari F8 Spider in terms of performance and fuel efficiency if that matters to you. However, the Ferrari comes with an award-winning engine and an interior that is slightly more comfortable than the McLaren 720S Spider. It also offers a better range on the highway. It completely depends on your personal preference which one you like better.

Ferrari F8 Spider vs. Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spider

The Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spider has a huge fan base all around the world and that is not without a reason. The car offers excellent performance with striking exterior styling that is aggressive enough to keep people away from your car. But that doesn’t mean that the Ferrari F9 Spider is inferior to the Huracan EVO Spider in any way. The Ferrari F8 Spider and Huracan EVO Spider are similar in terms of performance, but Ferrari offers better fuel efficiency and is also the lighter of the two. Here again, it depends on you which one you like better.

Ferrari F8 Spider vs. Audi R8 Spyder V10

The Audi R8 Spyder V10 is the most affordable convertible sports car in the competition and that surely has some compromises compared to the Ferrari F8 Spider. Audi R8 Spyder is also the slowest car in the segment but comes with the best in class fuel efficiency figures. The interior of the Audi is slightly more comfortable and practical than the Ferrari counterpart but the difference is not huge. If you want a true sports car experience and budget is not a concern for you, you should go with the Ferrari F8 Spider.

Final Verdict

The new Ferrari F8 Spider comes with everything that you expect from a car of this segment. The biggest highlight of the F8 Spider is the engine under the hood of the car. The engine comes with no power lag and the instantaneous power delivery will put a smile on your face whenever you take it out for a spin. The exterior styling of the car also impresses with its bold and aggressive stance. The interior is fairly practical and stacks up well against the other cars in the segment. If you are looking for a car in the segment, you can not go wrong with the Ferrari F8 Spider.
