The Ford F-350 Super Duty is a super truck, as the name suggests, and is for one who wants to perform some super tasks. We know America’s craze for big trucks, but this one is a big foot of trucks. It has been appreciated for its heavy-duty characteristics and good driving dynamics for its size. The 2022 model is expected to be a carry-forward model with respect to overall aesthetics and interior cabin layout. However, Ford has added some useful features to make sure that the Ford F-350 remains ahead in the competition.

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

The 2022 F-350 will be available in six trims, namely the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. All the trims will be available with a Crew Cab option and offer a bed size of 6.75" or 8" box. In addition to different bed sizes, there’s also an option for SRW or DRW, but the dual-wheel rear-drive is available only with an 8' bed size. The price for the XL trim is expected to start at $39,990 and go up to $85,900 for the Limited trim. It will face some serious competition from RAM 3500, Chevy Silverado 3500 HD, and the GMC Sierra 3500 HD.

We Recommend

We would recommend the Lariat trim without any doubt as it offers most of the luxury features and tech to satisfy your needs. Also, it is the middle trim, and its prices are competitive for the features it offers. Most of the creature comforts like power front seats, leather-trimmed rear seats, dual-zone climate control A/C, etc are offered from this trim onwards. You can also opt for other packages to further enhance the Lariat trim to suit your taste.

Release Date

Ford has not released any official pricing list for the 2022 models, but it is expected to go on sale in summer 2021. We expect a minor bump in pricing for the 2022 model.

2022 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Crew Cab Engine and Performance

Like the 2021 model, the 2022 model will also be available in three different engine options. The standard base engine is a 6.2L V8 gas engine producing 385 HP and 430 lb-ft of torque. This engine will be offered as a standard for the first five trim models. A more powerful gas engine will also be offered as an option. It is a 7.3 L V8 engine producing 430 HP and 475 lb-ft of torque.

Both the gas engines will be mated to a 10-speed automatic SelectShift transmission. A third one, the diesel-burning engine will be available as optional for the first five trims and will be offered as standard for the Limited trim. It is a 6.7 L V8 Turbocharged diesel engine producing 475 HP and ginormous 1050 lb-ft of torque. It will also be mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The standard will do a 0-60 mph sprint in 7.5 seconds, which is quite good for a truck of this size. It will offer a towing capacity of approx 18,000 lbs with the standard engine.

* Expected, 2021 data for representation

The Chevrolet and GMC trucks share a common platform and come with the same drivetrain. However, the performance is not the same as their 0-60 mph timings are different but quarter-mile timings are similar. The 2022 RAM 3500 will offer the best acceleration and is also the most powerful of the lot. The 2022 Ford F-350 will come with the least power output in the segment. However, going by the track record of the previous year, the acceleration will be similar to most trucks.

2022 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Crew Cab Fuel Economy

Like the 2021 model, the 2022 model is also expected to offer similar fuel economy, however, we expect that better engine tuning can help to deliver a better fuel economy. The combined fuel economy is 11 mpg, and with a fuel tank capacity of 34 gallons for the 6.74" bed version, the range is about 374 miles on a full tank. For the 8" bed version, you’ll get a larger fuel tank of 48 gallons which can help you deliver a better range.

* Expected, 2021 data for representation

The 2022 F-350 is expected to offer similar efficiency figures, and to be honest, it's on the lower side as compared to the competition. The Silverado and the Sierra are based on the same platform, so the efficiency figures are bound to be similar. The Silverado is also the most fuel-efficient truck of the lot and has a larger fuel tank of 36 gallons which can help it to cover a range of 504 miles in mixed driving conditions, which is stellar for a truck of its size.

2022 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Crew Cab Interior

The 2022 model will see the light with the same modern and ergonomic interiors. Albeit, the 8” multimedia screen will be replaced with a 12.0” touchscreen display. The materials used inside the cabin are meant to last and start to get more premium as you move upwards the trim hierarchy. The first two trims are meant mainly for commercial work purposes with very less creature comforts. With the Lariat trim and above, you get a view of many useful features for comfort and better technology.

You also get upmarket features like leather-trimmed upholstery and upscale options such as heated and cooled front seats, ambient lighting, wireless charging, 8” productivity screen, dual-zone climate control A/C, leather-wrapped steering wheel, Auto-dimming rearview mirror, etc which were previously unheard of in a truck. The interior is spacious, and you won’t complain much about cargo capacity too. Two-bed sizes are available for the Crew Cab body style, i.e., the 6.75" and 8".

* Expected, 2021 data for representation

All trucks in their Crew Cab body style can seat a maximum of 6-passengers, and the F-350 is known to do that well. The 2022 F-350 will offer a cargo capacity of 65.4 cu-ft in its 6.75" avatar. For more cargo capacity, you can opt for an 8" bed size. The GM twins offer the maximum cargo capacity in comparison to all, about 4.1 cu-ft more than the F-350. The RAM 3500 seems to be less practical here with its least cargo capacity of just 57.5 cu-ft. Some of the standout interior features of the 2022 F-350 Super Duty will be:

  • Rear privacy glass
  • Accessory delay for power features
  • 2.3”/ 4.2" LCD productivity screen (XL/XLT)
  • 8” productivity screen (Remaining trims)
  • Auto-dimming rearview mirror (Higher Trims)
  • Dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control (Higher Trims)
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel (Higher Trims)
  • Ice Blue ambient lighting (Higher Trims)
  • Power-adjustable pedals with memory (Higher Trims)
  • Intelligent Access with push-button start (Higher Trims)

How intuitive is this truck’s infotainment unit?

The good thing we got to know about 2022 F-350’s infotainment system is that it will receive a new 12.0-inch multimedia screen in the center of the dashboard. The new screen will offer a better resolution and touch response. The infotainment system will be powered by Ford’s SYNC 4.0 system. It will also offer support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Except for the first two trims, all the other trims will receive a Bang and Olufsen music system with MP3 compatibility. A 10-speaker system and subwoofer are guaranteed to offer an intoxicating musical experience with better output and clarity. Such premium music systems were previously reserved for premium SUVs only. You will also get support for SiriusXM with a 3-month All Access trial subscription. You will also get support for 911 assist and Applink. Some of the standout infotainment features of the 2022 F-350 Super Duty will be:

  • Wireless Android Auto
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay
  • 10-speaker w/ subwoofer Bang and Olufsen music system
  • 12.0” Multimedia touchscreen display
  • SYNC 4.0 Support
  • SiriusXM Services
  • AM/FM with MP3 compatibility

2022 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Crew Cab Exterior

The 2022 F-350 model is expected to retain most of the exterior characteristics of the 2021 model. However, with the addition of the Lariat Sport appearance package, models will add a color-matched grille, exterior mirrors, bumpers, black running boards, and chrome exhaust tips. All these elements will give it a refreshed styling and a fresher look. Some new colors for the exterior will also be introduced. The front fascia will imbibe a bold front grille with an embedded Ford logo in it, and two jigsaw-shaped headlamps will glorify the entire look.

The new architecture developed by Ford will help it to be lighter and improve handling to some extent. A tremor off-road package is also available which can be used to increase the truck’s off-road capabilities and has its own rugged look. The sides will be a plain affair, and the rear profile will be that of a typical truck with vertical tail lamps on both sides of the cargo bed.

The GM twins will be similar in dimensions except for their ground clearance and weight. The GMC Sierra 3500 HD comes with better ground clearance, which helps in better off-road conditions. The F-350 will offer a lower ground clearance which is not something to be worried about but definitely needs to be considered. The Silverado offers a longer wheelbase which helps it with better stability on highways. The F-350 will come with new architecture from Ford and will be lighter in comparison to the competition. However, that won’t help to increase the efficiency too much, considering the 2021 model has the least fuel efficiency. Some of the standout exterior features of the 2022 F-350 Super Duty will be:

  • Quad-beam jewel-effect halogen headlamps
  • Remote Keyless Entry System
  • Remote Start System (Higher Trims)
  • Twin-panel moonroof (Limited trim)
  • Tailgate step with grab bar and tailgate lift assist (Platinum/Limited)
  • Cab steps – Power-deployable running boards (Platinum/Limited)

2022 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Crew Cab Safety

The 2022 F-350 will be based on a new lightweight architecture which will be the only high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body in its class. It will also be more dent-and-ding resistant and not subject to rust. It’s believed that aluminum alloy is substantially lighter than the previous steel body, yet it’s remarkably strong. The NHTSA has also given the previous model a 4-star overall safety rating, which is considered to be good. The IIHS has not tested the F-350 model yet. The F-350 comes with many advanced safety and driver assistance features under the Ford Co-Pilot 360 Technology Suite which is bound to make you feel safe and ensure your safety. Some of the standout safety features of the 2022 F-350 Super Duty will be:

  • Ford Co-Pilot 360 Technology ( Hill Start Assist, TrailerSway Control, AutoLamp, RearView Camera)
  • SOS Post-Crash Alert System
  • Reverse Sensing System
  • Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Audible Lane Departure Warning
  • Blind Spot Information System

2022 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Crew Cab Competition

2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty Crew Cab V/S 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD

The 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD will be more powerful and come with a bigger engine as compared to the F-350. It will also be more expensive as compared to the F-350. The F-350 will come with Ford’s new design architecture with aluminum components which will result in weight saving and better braking performance than the Silverado. The new architecture will also offer better protection against rust and corrosion.

2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty Crew Cab V/S 2022 RAM 3500 HD

The 2022 RAM 3500 will offer better performance and efficiency as compared to the F-350. In terms of cargo space, the F-350 is a clear winner. If we consider the spec sheet, both the trucks offer similar features at a similar price point. However, Ford offers class-leading safety features which will be difficult to match for its competition.

2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty Crew Cab V/S GMC Sierra 3500 HD

The 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 HD will be based on the Silverado’s platform and offer very similar specifications to it. However, it offers better ground clearance in its segment and hence is more off-road capable as compared to the F-350. The F-350, on the other hand, will be lighter and that helps with better handling and improved braking to some extent. The Sierra will also offer better cargo capacity than the Ford F-350.

2022 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Crew Cab Final Verdict

The 2022 Ford F-350 will be a well-rounded package at its price point. Also with the changes in the infotainment system for the 2022 model, the deal becomes even sweeter. The F-350 will offer better bed size, towing capabilities, and payload capacity as compared to the competition. It’s not the perfect truck but a well-balanced one for sure. Most of its rivals are also American players, and they are also very good offerings in every respect. So the choice waters down to you and your taste.
