Overview

Developed on the outskirts of Detroit, the Ford Focus is a well-finished competent passenger car. The Ford Focus is a domestic name across the small families in the United States. The automaker has made various refinements in the journey of Focus. The 2018 Focus, however, doesn't come with any changes for this year.

The Focus outclassed many prominent rivals that offer better passenger space and modern features. Still, it remains the easy car deserving to be recommended. It offers two body styles-hatch and sedan, offering great styling and appeal. The performance and sporty Focus trims are just like a cherry on the cake.

The new 2018 Ford Focus is loaded with high-tech features similar to the rivals like Mazda3 and Kia Soul. Ford has offered four trim levels with both fuel-efficient and performance engine options. There are two high-performance turbocharged versions of the 2018 Focus- the Focus ST and the all-wheel-drive Focus RS. These performance versions compete with VW's Golf GTI and Golf R and Honda's Civic Si and Type R. There's also an all-electric version on the chart that challenges Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt.

Engine

6.5/10

"The 1.0-liter Focus is rated at a humble 123 hp and 125 lb-ft of torque, and real-world output feels even weaker. Flooring the accelerator is often required to keep up with traffic. The transmission is generally well-behaved. Handling is very good for the class." - Edmunds

Engine and Transmission

The Ford Focus EV features a 107kW Electric motor which has a greater capacity when compared to the other electric cars. The EV comes with a single-speed automatic transmission engine that delivers maximum power and torque of 143hp and 184 lb-ft respectively.

The Ford Focus has the upgraded battery capacity and the DC fast-charging capacity has also been introduced to the Ford’s only electric vehicle Ford Focus. Though the specification and the engine capacity are looking to be good, the Ford Focus fails to meet the power of its rivalries. This shows that the Ford is not much interested in the manufacturing the Electric Vehicles. Hence the availability is also less for the EV.

“The interior of the 2018 Ford Focus is fitting for this price point, with comfortable front seats and a clean design. From the layout of the knobs, to the infotainment interface, the Focus is user-friendly. Some lower grade materials and a small cargo space in most trims hinder its appeal.”- cars.usnews
