Detailed Review

Ford has been performing great with the Focus RS in the American auto market. This year, Ford has announced to end the production of popular Ford Focus RS. The carmaker will manufacture 1000 units only and the car won't be available for sale after 2018. For 2018, Ford has brought some special packages and utilities with the farewell car.

Powering the Focus RS is a turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four cylinder powertrain that makes an effective 350-hp and 350 pounds-feet of peak torque. The all-wheel-drive setup can bias power to individual wheels at times, depending on the drive modes you select. Overall, the Focus RS is the hatch which is one-time worth considering alongside the rivals like Volkswagen Golf R, Honda Civic Type R, and the Subaru WRX STI.

The performance enhancing options such as lightweight forged wheels and front locking differential make the ride more sporty and smooth. The 2018 Focus RS has been priced slightly higher than the last year model. The RS2 package is now available as standard across all trim levels.

The 2018 Ford Focus ST has been introduced in an exclusive new color, Red Rae hue, which you can choose alongside the regular Blue Nitrous. Both the versions of the Focus RS come with black roof and glossy mirror caps. The RS logo can be witnessed on the roof spoiler and the side wings. There are few changes on the exterior side, while the front fascia, air dam, and the front grille remain unchanged. Just the upper side of the front profile appears to be tilted upfront to showcase the Ford emblem.

The hood, as well as the body design lines, appear similar to the outgoing model. However, you get to see a new vent on the center hump area. The inserts look different with the extra vents that allow improved air flow through the front side bakes. The slight improvement can be seen with the missing gap between the tires and the wheel arches.

2018 Ford Focus RS Competition

Ford Focus RS vs. VW Golf R

The Golf R is comfortable and practical.  It still remains one of the responsive cars in the segment. Peeps seeking more efficient and daily commuting vehicle, VW Golf R is the best choice.

Ford Focus RS vs. Honda Civic Type R

The Honda Civic Type R overshadows the Focus RS in many ways. Focus is an impressive performance car but the type R, on the other hand, offers better comfort and usability.

Ford Focus RS vs. Subaru WRX STI

The facelifted WRX STI still makes 305-hp, which is very less than the 350-hp churning Ford Focus RS. Despite its age, 2018 Ford Focus RS is the fastest hatch the line, which comes with drift mode and other exciting features.

2018 Ford Focus RS Final Verdict

Since the finals days of Ford Focus RS has arrived, it seems that the carmaker is reluctant in offering any fresh updates for 2018. Anyhow, the performance hatch remains the head turner with its aggressive exterior and impressive drivability.

The prominent rivals such as the Honda Civic R, VW Golf R, and the Subaru WRX STI will still be dominating the market by bringing new updates in the coming years. For the farewell tour, the carmaker has put limited units of the 2018 Focus RS for sale in the U.S. Buyers who are looking for a daily commuting car providing ample car space, must not wait too long for the new Ford Focus RS.
