We Recommend

The biggest reason behind buying a Mustang GT is always going to be its superiority in performance rather than the luxury and comfort inside, thus we would suggest you go with the base GT trim. Not only does it offer the performance expected from the GT trim group, but it also has all the necessary features for your comfort.

2014 Ford Mustang GT Coupe Engine and Performance

8.0/10

A 5.0 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine is present under the hood of both 2014 Mustang trims. It is married to a 6-speed manual transmission and churns out 420 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. The power gets transferred to the rear wheels as default. With this arrangement, the 2014 Mustang GT sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, while for a quarter-mile distance, 13.2 seconds are required.

The ride comfort is slightly compromised on the Mustang GT, but in return, it gives a high degree of handling, punchy performance, and great handling. With the 6-speed manual transmission, you can feel the real thrill of driving. For better performance, various packages offer better brakes, suspensions, and differential.

2014 Ford Mustang GT Coupe Fuel Economy

7.0/10

The 2014 Mustang GT is the most efficient coupe on the highways in the affordable sports car segment. As per EPA estimates, it returns fuel economy of 15 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg combined. That said, the Mustang has the smallest fuel tank in the competition, which results in a poor range. 2014 Ford Mustang GT Coupe Interior

7.0/10

While the 2014 Mustang’s cabin is well organized, the quality of material used is not very high. You can find hard plastic all over the cabin. The inside of the door panels have vinyl trim, and seats are covered in cloth upholstery, which can be upgraded to leather-trimmed upholstery on the GT Premium trim. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather, but no heating option is given. The front row is comfortable to sit in, whereas the rear row lacks a decent amount of space.

A 4-way manual adjustment is given for the driver seat as standard, which can be upgraded to a 6-way power adjustment, while the power lumbar support comes standard on the Premium trim. The front passenger seat has a 2-way manual adjustment, which can be replaced with an optional 6-way power adjustment on the Premium trim. The base trim comes with the single-zone manual air conditioning, tilt steering column, day-night rearview mirror, one-touch power windows, two 12-V power outlets, and power door locks.

2014 Ford Mustang GT Coupe Exterior

8.0/10

The exterior styling of the Mustang is really something to drool over. At the front, the bold black grille has a dark-chrome pony badge. Hood-vented heat extractors make Mustang look more sporty and muscular. High-intensity discharge headlights and LED fog lights are given at the front. On the side, power mirrors integrated with a blind-spot feature are present.

At the back, the rear spoiler gives Mustang an athletic appeal. Rear sequential LED rear turn lights are given on the backside. An optional glass roof is given on the Premium trim. The 2014 Mustang GT runs on the standard 18-inch sparkle silver-painted aluminum wheels, which can be replaced with the optional 18" polished aluminum wheel or 19-inch machined aluminum wheels on the Premium trim.

2014 Ford Mustang GT Coupe Final Verdict

There is no doubt that the 2014 Ford Mustang GT offers an action-packed performance and an exceptional driving experience. However, when it comes to interior space and features, the Dodge Challenger is a much better performer, though you will have to compromise on the fast acceleration. That said, the Chevrolet Camaro is an all-rounder but gets a blow because of the low cargo capacity. Therefore, you can either go with the Camaro or go for the 2015 Mustang GT, which has received a full redesign.
