There has been hardly a debate on the glory and passion which the Ford Mustang GT represents in its appeal. It just does not seem to age at all and will remain eternal if a subjective view has to be put forth. Well, the purist machine is set to hit the race track with a complete revamp for the 2015 year and the Americanness is as typical as it has always been.

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

The Ford Mustang is available in three formats which see huge price jumps throughout the trim scale. A special Limited Edition will also keep you engaged with its presence celebrating the 50 years of glory and engineering. The base price starts at $33,200 which can go up to $47,070 exclusive of taxes. In terms of its graph, it rivals the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG, Chevrolet Camaro SS, and the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack to keep rising.

Features

The Mustang GT has been given three facials in the form of the Base, Premium, and the special 50 Years Limited Edition. All of them have some exclusive features that belong to them and intensifies the feel. The first stark variation begins with the sound system which changes from the Base’s 6-Speakers Audio Unit to Premium’s 9-Speaker Sound System with Amplifier tp Limited Edition’s Shaker Pro Audio System. Not just that, even the evolution takes place in the display unit which gets bigger in higher trims. Further adding to the analytics, the top trim has been adorned with the 19" x 9" Foundry Black Wheels.

One of the best things about the Ford Mustang GT is that, irrespective of any trim, the SYNC communication, and entertainment unit has been kept available. The power adjustment for seat positioning and heightening have been integrated as well. Moreover, one gets the Voice Activation and Leather-trimmed feel inside the cabin, both of them together make for the interior engagement. The Base, unlike the higher trim, rests on the 18" x 8" Magnetic Painted Wheels which are as attractive as they should be.

We Recommend

Well, this is a tricky part as choosing one among them is completely dependent on oneself. As the highest trim is a special edition which is not like every year’s knock at the door and has its own status of owning. While the Base is refreshing with exemplary looks and touch-ups. So, if the lever, in general, favors the genuine characteristic then the Base trim will suffice all that you need. But as mentioned earlier, keeping money out of scope and status symbol a priority then the 50 Years Limited Edition is the one for you.

Engine and Performance
9.1/10

There is one and only which fits the aggression of the 2015 Ford Mustang GT and that is none other than the V8 loudness. The 5L beast is simply mind-boggling with its numbers and vibration. The power out of 435 hp and a torque surge of up to 400 lb-ft is one of the best in the segment. These allow it to have a run of a quarter-mile within 12.8 seconds and touch 60 mph from a standstill in just 4.2 seconds. The package is coupled with the 6-Speed Manual transmission in the standard RWD layout. The RWD assists in its acceleration as the backward weight transfer pushes the rear wheels creating a nice parabolic contact patch.

As far as comparison is concerned, there is no specific data available for the rival to derive any conclusion to gauge anyone’s dominance. But the figures could guide us to some interesting facts that have their own values like the performance to price ratio for the Mustang GT is just mouthwatering. Moreover, a lightweight gives it the segment-leading power to ratio, and hence, on the whole, it sets the benchmark for others.

Fuel Economy
6.0/10

Expecting a decent fuel economy is nothing but a waste of time from this segment. But thanks to the mentality as well that even the owners are obsessed with numbers in this department. For the record’s sake, the Mustang GT has the ability to deliver a mileage of 15 mpg in the city, 25 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg overall. This is when abused with the 16 gallons of the fuel tank, delivers a range of 304 miles on a daily basis. One can be satisfied with the resultant he/she gets from this machinery.

259/425.5/314.5

The others in this parameter are quite comparable only except the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The stylish Chevrolet Camaro SS is also humble in its root as it delivers a 16/24/19 mpg in the same fashion along with a range of up to 361 miles which is the highest one among the rivals and a cornerstone as well. There is some expectation we should be having from Mercedes-Benz as even though it is not an important segment yet one should have some respectable figure for paying more than $60,000.

Interior
7.9/10

The feel is up to the mark and expectation. Nothing less, nothing more, just perfect in all senses. The leather packaging on the steering wheel in the Base trims extends to seats in the Premium trim. The Premium is enriched with power-heating and cooling at the same time for the seats. The seating positioning is a bit inclining but that does not strain your back. Visibility has been taken care of on the brighter side only. The Premium trim has an aluminum-finish gear shifter which can be covered with leather upholstery if wished. In the end, the transition does occur in temperature control as well from the Manual Air Control to the Automatic one.

All of them have the capability to seat 4 except the Challenger which increases to 5. Honestly, these figures are just for the namesake as it is nothing more than a squeezed seating that can’t seat even adults comfortably. The cargo capacity of 13.5 cu-ft is on par with the standard volume. It is true that it is the highest but hardly makes any difference. The most practical one, at least, in terms of flexibility is the Challenger. Some of the features are:

  • Underseat Ducts
  • Dual Zone Front Automatic Air Conditioning
  • Heated/Cooled Front Seats
  • Full Cloth Headliner

How intuitive is the 2015 Ford Mustang GT’s infotainment unit?

The Infotainment unit is a distinction when we discuss the Limited Edition of the 2015 Ford Mustang GT as it has Shaker Pro Audio System with 12-speakers. It has SYNC communication and entertainment which can be experienced via an 8” Interactive Display Unit. This unit is also available in the Premium trim as well but the Base has to settle with the 4.2” Screen. After this, the others which are standing next to in the queue are MyFord Touch, AppLink, and Smart Charging Ports. The valuation becomes that of high face value with the SiriusXM Radio and High-Tech Gesture Controls. Some of the features are:

  • AppLink
  • 8” Interactive Display Unit
  • SYNC
  • MyFord Touch
  • SiriusXM Radio
Exterior
8.0/10

A treat to the eye and continuity throughout the figure is enough to elaborate the short analytics of this machinery. The 2015 Ford Mustang GT is bold and aggressive in its expression yet remains calm when cruising in the city. The wide 18" x 8" Magnetic Painted Wheels and 19" x 9" Foundry Black Wheels are of top caliber and presence. The big front hood is indicative of the typical Muscle Car Attitude. The Black Grille is flashy and surrounded by iconic headlamps. Even the rear looks sporty with its dual exhaust having a polished finish and the spoiler.

Lightest among all with a streamlined body to generate enough downforce to handle it around the corners quite easily is a simple description of the Mustang GT. It is without a doubt the most compact which gives it an inspiring dynamic control. The others are also somewhat close to one another in terms of value except for the Dodge Challenger. The rear-wheel-drive along with small wheelbase are complementary to one another and it can be noticed throughout the rivals. So, there seems to be no specific suggestion for any change to achieve any better. Some of the features are:

  • Spare Tire Mobility Kit
  • Rear Spoiler
  • 18" x 8" Magnetic Painted Wheels
  • Black Grille
  • Polished-finish dual exhaust
Safety
8.8/10

There are a few aspects that are self-explanatory for themselves like the long front end which allows for a huge crumple zone to distribute the crash impact at the time of high-speed maneuvering. This allows one to have a safer cabin. Moreover, the Mustang has always been a performer in this segment with 5-star and “Good” ratings in the NHTSA and IIHS parameters respectively.

Thus, the same can be expected from the Ford Mustang GT as well. The active safety features like the AdvanceTrac Electronic Stability Control and MyKey algorithm keep a check on your crash avoidance situations. It does standard safety as well like the common ABS, Traction Control, and Airbags. On the whole, it appears promising. Some of the features are:

  • AdvanceTrac Electronic Stability Control
  • MyKey
  • Responsive Suspension
  • Traction Control
  • ABS
Final Verdict

The Ford Mustang GT is without any single double thought a must-buy for its segment. It is just a pleasure to have around you. Be it show-off or functionality, it fulfills all the cravings. A few of the rivals are nice in some of the segments but this machinery is a “one fits for all” solution for you. Therefore, it is a surefire test that one should go for it.

Super fast and Fun car.

Pros - Luxurious design, resale value

Cons - Fuel economy

Nothing is as satisfying as this. I've owned my '15 Mustang GT for quite some time now and it's finally the time to sell it off, or at least that's what I'm thinking about. These days are the best ones to sell off a car at a good price but also hard to buy a new one. Well that's no biggie since I rarely drive it due to rising fuel prices. If anyone dares to buy a '15 Mustang GT with its 19 (combi...

Just what I needed

Pros - Looks. Exhaust. Brutal power.

Cons - Comfort, Stiff seats.

Pure performer As an avid muscle car enthusiast who owns Dodge Challenger SRT and a Camaro, it was mandatory for me to add in a Mustang GT and so I did. Found the car after a long searching and I am very happy with the way this car moves. The exhaust note is orgasm to my ears and the whole design is just too good but I do find the seating to be a bit stiff and uncomfortable but that's a sacrifice...

Nostalgic car with outrageous power

Pros - Powerful, Handling, Drive pleasure.

Cons - Loud exhaust, Stiff ride.

Brutal power The name Mustang isn't new to the family and my grandpa used to drive one back in his day which was sold after he passed away. It was a necessity for me to find a Mustang GT and this car even though it doesn't look as good as the old car performs great and I just love the whole drive character and handling on this car.
