The 2022 Ford Ranger is a mid-size pickup truck from the classic American brand in the market. The 2022 Ranger is part of the fourth-generation Ranger that was introduced in the year 2019. There is not much to say about the cabin design or quality of cabin of the 2022 Ford Ranger because there is not much to it. The cabin design is simply boring, or dull. The build quality is good; there are many panel gaps or squeaks you would hear from the bits and panels used on the inside. The use of hard plastics all around gives a rugged feel to the cabin; while this might not be fit to everyone's liking, it will not wear out over time. The infotainment system in the Ranger is just like the interior; simple and ergonomic. The 2022 Ford Ranger comes in three trims XL, XLT and Lariat trim. The best bet would be the higher two trims as the base XL trim is particularly low on features and is a better fit to be used as a work truck. The base trim comes with manually adjustable seats and steering wheel and a single-zone manual air condition system. 

The XLT trim comes with a power-adjustable driver seat as an option whereas Lariat comes with power driver and passenger seats as standard. The base XL trim comes with Ebony cloth upholstery as standard and XLT comes with premium cloth upholstery in Ebony or Medium Stone color choices. The Lariat trim comes with leather upholstery available in the same choices as the XLT, along with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather-wrapped gear shift knob. Features like dual-zone automatic climate control, bigger infotainment screen are standard on both the XLT and Lariat trim.The higher roof and spacious second row provide enough comfort for passengers but a bigger cabin means the bed size reduces from standard 6 feet to 5 feet. The seats are not the best in class but offer enough comfort and support to keep the occupants comfortable over longer journeys.

The GM cousins offer the most spacious cabins with adequate legroom offered on both rows. The front and rear row comes with high headroom and adequate legroom. The Ranger is the second to follow with just a slightly less spacious cabin. Toyota Tacoma is the least spacious truck among all the listed rivals.

2022 Ford Ranger Crew Cab Infotainment

The base XL trim of the 2022 Ford Ranger Crew Cab comes standard with a 3.5-inch screen with Ford’s SYNC infotainment system and it features FM/AM Radio, Bluetooth connectivity, Single charging USB-port, FordPass Connect, four-speaker stereo and App Link. Optional on the XL is a slightly bigger 4.2-inch screen with an SYNC3 system with better features including SiriusXM satellite radio and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.

The XLT and Lariat trim come with a standard 8.0-inch touch screen with the same SYNC3 system. The bigger screen looks good and is more accessible. A six-speaker sound system is standard on both trims, while a premium Bang & Olufsen system is available as an option. A voice-activated navigation system is also an available option on the Lariat trim.

2022 Ford Ranger Crew Cab Cargo Capacity

Cargo space is not a concern if you buy a pickup truck. The 2022 Ford Ranger Crew Cab variant comes with a smaller five-foot bed which offers 43.3 cubic feet of space for cargo. You get a total of six tie-down hooks in the bed, and the tailgate can be locked with the central locking system.

Loading and unloading cargo is seamless for the most part but, the higher loading bay makes you put in a bit more effort for loading and unloading cargo from the sides.

2022 Ford Ranger Crew Cab has better cargo space than its rivals. The Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon come with a slightly smaller bed. The official figure of the available cargo space in Tacoma is not yet available, but what we do know is that it comes with a 6-ft. bed that is one foot bigger than the bed sizes of the other listed rivals. 

Additional Interior Storage Spaces

There is a storage space present beneath the rear seat but it is not typically practical or spacious. The center console storage bin and the glove box are also small in size. Moreover, the door pockets are small as well. A slight bit of relief is that you get four cup holders.

2022 Ford Ranger Crew Cab Creature Comforts

Comfort features are scarce in the 2022 Ford Ranger, especially in the base trim. It comes with basic features including an 8-way manually adjustable driver’s seat and 6-way manually adjustable passenger seat, a manually adjustable tilt telescopic steering wheel, and a single-zone manual air conditioning system. The XLT trim comes with better features like dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8.0-inch touch screen display, a 4.2-inch productivity screen, and a better sound system. The top Lariat trim comes with power-adjustable front seats with heating function, leather upholstery, and ambient interior lighting. 

Verdict

A simple design, with the basic necessities and a few bits of convenience features are offered with the 2022 Ford Ranger SuperCrew. It comes with a cabin spacious enough to seat up to five people. The base trim has to make do with basic features while the higher trims do get slightly better features. Overall, the 2022 Ford Ranger Crew Cab has a competent and spacious interior but it still needs to bring something unique to the table to stand out among its rivals.
