This year, the G90 has done away with its 5.0L V8 in favor of a twin-turbocharged V6 that comes in two power levels and is mated to an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The E-supercharged variant combines an electric supercharger and a 48-volt hybrid system to increase the twin-turbo V6's output from 375 horsepower to 409 horsepower. The G90 is designed for cruising and feels comfortable accelerating to highway speeds to provide a polished ride. Put the car in Comfort mode, place yourself in the plush driver's seat, and let the vehicle take care of the driving. The V6 outputs enough torque to all four wheels, and the 8-speed automatic transmission hardly makes a grunt as it changes speeds. The powertrain is the epitome of keeping things smooth. The standard engine is capable of shooting this sleek sedan from 0-60 mph in just 5.3 seconds but if that seems slow to you, pick the e-SC powertrain option and the time reduces to 4.9 seconds.

The Genesis G90 has a mild hybrid powertrain as an option while the rivals come standard with a tiny electric motor backing their internal-combustion engine. Mercedes manages to churn out maximum power in the segment, leading to an impressive acceleration of 4.9 seconds. Both Genesis and BMW produce the exact same figure of power but the Beemer takes the second spot in terms of acceleration by hitting 60 mph on the odo in just 5 seconds. On the bottom of the table are Genesis and Audi which took 5.3 seconds to complete the deed. The same order is followed even in terms of their pricing as the most expensive vehicle is the Mercedes and the most affordable are Audi and Genesis.
2023 Genesis G90 Ride and Handling
There is a lot of body roll and the steering does feel sluggish. To keep its inevitable swaying and tilting in check, the air suspension works extremely hard. The G90, however, has more positive aspects than negative ones. Rear-wheel steering, which turns in opposition to the front wheels at low speeds to enable a tighter turning radius and in coordination with the front wheels at highway speeds for improved stability, is standard on models with electrified powertrains. It all feels really smooth and silky. While it doesn't provide for an exciting drive through fast turns, Genesis has hit its mark in the competition with more reputable luxury brands.
2023 Genesis G90 Braking Performance
The brake pedal of the G90 feels squishy and isn’t the most pleasant one that the segment has to offer. However, braking does not feel compromised and regenerative braking is used to power the mild-hybrid version, which can cause unexpected stops in other sedans when you apply the brakes, but not in the G90. The front wheels carry 14.2-inch rotors while panning to the rear reveals 13.6-inch rotors. G90 also comes with a Stop/Start function which cuts the power while halting at a light and the vehicle starts back on the moment the driver lifts their foot off the brake pedal.

While none of these luxury sedans have been tested for their braking distance yet, they all come with vented discs on both ends, allowing optimal cooling of the brakes, which are an integral factor for promising braking performance. From the available information, the Genesis seems to be the heaviest vehicle, and considering how sharper the brakes on the rivals feel, it is most likely that the G90 would take the last spot. BMW hasn’t revealed the sizes of its brake rotors but the newly redesigned 7-Series happens to be the lightest vehicle here. As of now, the Audi has the largest set of brakes which should help it stop within a commendable distance.
