The GMC Sierra 1500 is a thorough workhorse and it is exciting to note that it comes with some real notable changes for 2022 MY. The Regular Cab variant has always been considered as the true workhorse pickup truck in the Sierra lineup as it offers only a single row of seats but plenty of utilitarian traits that just make sense. Moreover, GM is set to upgrade the Sierra lineup completely from the ground up for 2023 MY.
2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab Steering Wheel
For 2022 MY, GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab is available only in the Pro trim with its prices starting from the $33,500 mark. However, it comes in two bed configurations- Standard box and Long Box. Its Chevy counterpart is offered only in Long Box config. 2022 Sierra 1500 Regular Cab competes with the likes of the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab, the 2022 Ford F-150 Regular Cab, and the 2022 RAM 1500 Classic Regular Cab.

2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab Interior Design, Dimensions, and Comfort
2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab is a work-truck from practicality and utility point of view. The Regular Cab variant only comes in the Pro trim option which limits a lot of the features and design elements to the bare minimum. The tall dashboard design paired with the all-black treatment does go well with its powerful and muscular stature. The cabin has a lot of hard plastic surfaces which might have been a letdown if it were a premium pickup truck.Updated and premium interior elements are supposedly available only with the other cab variants and higher trim options only.
2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab Rear Seats
As mentioned earlier, the interior elements are plain and basic. As standard, you get a split bench seat wrapped in cloth upholstery. The front seats are 4-way manually adjustable. You can also opt for vinyl upholstery as well as an optional 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat for some premium. You also get a urethane steering wheel and a manual AC unit. The seats are quite wide and roomy for an average human. Moreover, you also get under-seat storage.
And the middle seat doubles up as an armrest when not in use.

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab and the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab share the same underpinnings being sister brands. They have identical dimensions and almost similar components. The 2022 Ford F-150 Regular Cab is one of the most sought-after trucks in the segment while the RAM 1500 Classic looks quite old in front of the new-gen pickup trucks that rule the segment.
2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab Infotainment
The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab’s interior focuses only on the bare minimum that is expected from a pickup truck. Surprisingly, the infotainment system manages to offer some of the features that are not usually found in cranky old pickup trucks. As standard, you get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display unit powered by the GMC infotainment system. The UI is intuitive and the touch display is responsive. Moreover, you get physical control knobs and buttons as well.

Standard infotainment features include wired Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, and optional 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. Audiophiles may have a tough time inside the Sierra 1500 Regular Cab as it only comes with a pair of door-mounted speakers as standard. There seem to be no optional alternatives to the standard audio system.

Chevy Silverado 1500 Regular Cab is built on the same platform as that of the Sierra 1500 but for 2022 MY, the Chevy SIlverado 1500 Regular Cab comes standard only in long box configuration. The RAM 1500 Classic Regular Cab is comparatively shorter and offers the lowest cargo capacity in the segment.
Additional Interior Storage Spaces
Despite having just a single row of seats and two doors, the 2022 Sierra 1500 Regular Cab has more interior storage spaces than a regular car. The dashboard hosts not one but two large glove boxes. The door bins too are quite large too. The middle seat doubles up as an armrest and it also holds a storage bin, a pair of cupholders, and some small pockets. The dashboard has a small storage bin on its upper surface to the center and you can find some storage space behind the seats as well.
2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab Creature Comforts
As far as creature comforts go, the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab doesn’t have much on offer mainly due to the fact that it is a workhorse. As standard, you get 4-way manual split bench front seats, cloth upholstery, rubberized vinyl flooring, single-zone climate control, remote keyless entry and power windows. The driver’s seat can be configured with optional 10-way power-adjustability.
Verdict
The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab might be a crude pickup truck, but it certainly makes sure that it is good at what it’s meant to be. Its rugged, practical, and utilitarian design paired with the all-new exterior design elements and impressively integrated modern infotainment features make it worth the money. However, we recommend that you wait for the upcoming gen upgrade in the cards for 2023 MY.
