The latest generation (11th) of the Honda Civic scores top ratings in most categories to be one of the best compact cars in 2022, but the main highlight is the redesigned Civic interior. The new Honda Civic interior overcomes consumer complaints about the previous Civic sedan's bland design. As seen in the 2022 Honda Civic interior pictures, most trim levels offer you a choice between black and gray upholstery. There’s just one Honda Civic Sport color.

2022 Honda Civic Dashboard

Honda states that the cabin of the 2022 Honda Civic is designed to be clean, minimal, and easy to use, evidently inspired by Honda's small electric car called the 'e'. Compared to the rivals, the all-new interior of the Civic sedan may not be as advanced but looks elegant. The redesigned Civic is proof that an interior of an affordable compact car can be both ergonomic and exciting. Honda has smartly packaged the cabin with a larger touchscreen infotainment system and redundant audio and climate controls. A metal honeycomb panel divides the two.

Moreover, Honda even redesigned the Civic's front seats for greater long-distance comfort. The top-range 2022 Honda Civic Touring also gets a fully digital instrument cluster, which integrates beautifully with the touchscreen interface. The all-new Honda Civic boasts a well-built, upscale cabin, with spacious and comfortable seating, user-friendly technology, and plenty of cargo space. The 2022 Civic sedan comes with a starting price tag of $23,645 and it competes with the likes of the 2022 Hyundai Elantra, 2022 Mazda 3, and 2022 Volkswagen Jetta.

2022 Honda Civic Sedan Interior

Ever since its inception, the Civic has been a popular sedan all across the globe. The 11th generation 2022 Honda Civic gets a major overhaul with the most enticing interior upgrade. The new 2022 Civic sedan and hatchback, both offer an elegant interior design, rich in space and modern technology and features. Though Honda established a stronghold for its sporty driving dynamics, powerful engine, and stylish looks, the latest Civic will add interior design and spacious cargo as best selling points.

The 2022 Honda Civic sedan has been redesigned from the ground up in terms of interior styling and features. You now get a touchscreen infotainment unit as standard while the new Civic's redesigned cabin looks modern but seems to be a stencil for Honda’s future cars.

Honda Civic Sedan Seating, Interior Space, and Dimensions

The all-new Civic sedan’s redesigned cabin gets a ton of appreciation from enthusiasts across the globe as it not only looks minimal and modern but also adds to the premium quotient as you move up the trim ladder. Even in the base LX, the first thing that you would immediately notice inside is the beautiful honeycomb-patterned mesh design that goes across the dashboard with the HVAC vents integrated perfectly. The all-black cabin layout further adds to the aesthetics and there are piano black trim inserts surrounding the design elements as well.

2022 Honda Civic Front Seats

Adding to the sporty flair, the 2022 Civic has paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. The dashboard surface is made of hard plastics but you can find leatherette trim on the door panels. You also get a moonroof with the EX trim and above; it does add to the interior ambiance bringing much-needed light inside. The 2022 Civic comes with a dual-zone automatic climate control starting from the EX trim. You also get a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob for added aesthetics. As standard, you get manually adjustable front seats wrapped in cloth upholstery in 3 three color options.

2022 Honda Civic Rear Seats

The Honda Civic has seating for five passengers inside, and the back row is fine for an average-sized adult. Like most cars in this segment with these interior dimensions, three adults abreast in the back would feel tight. In terms of seating space, there’s abundant legroom in the front row and the second row comes equipped with 60-40 split seats to make space for cargo. However, you don't get split-folding rear seats as standard; you need to upgrade to EX or the Touring trim. Overall, the reworked cabin is impressive and Honda has offered the right mix of elements inside.

Only Hyundai Elantra comes close to the Civic sedan as far as cabin space is concerned. In fact, it offers the most legroom in both rows. However, the headroom is a bit compromised. The 2022 Mazda 3 is the least spacious of the lot and the second-row legroom is a bit compromised when compared to its rivals.

Honda Civic Sedan Infotainment and Features

Just like its impressive cabin design, the 2022 Civic sedan also comes with user-friendly infotainment with modern tech features. The latest Civic offers a choice between two infotainment displays - the lower trims get the 7-inch touchscreen display as standard while the higher Touring trim gets a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display.

2022 Honda Civic Infotainment System

The base unit gets knobs to control settings but the larger display lacks so. Along with the host of features like HondaLink and in-built navigation, the 2022 Civic also gets Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, as well as 4G WiFi LTE hotspot as standard. Upgrading to the larger display gets you Wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

Apart from that, you also get wireless device charging, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, satellite radio, HD Radio, and voice recognition. The standard audio system on offer is a 160-watt 4 speaker system but you can upgrade that to an 8-speaker stereo. Or if you are one of those who enjoy some jam sessions in the car, get the optional 12-speaker Bose premium surround sound system.

Key Infotainment Features

  • The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display
  • The optional 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display
  • 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster
  • HondaLink
  • 160-watt 4 speaker audio system
  • Bose premium surround sound system with 12 speakers
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • 4G LTE WiFi hotspot

Honda Civic Sedan Creature Comforts and Features

The 2022 Civic doesn’t offer much in its base avatar. You get manually adjustable front seats wrapped in cloth upholstery and single-zone automatic climate control as standard. The 2022 Civic Sport trim adds some exterior aesthetic updates and on the interior, you get a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob along with paddle shifters. You get decent comfort features such as heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a moonroof, and a split-folding rear seat from the EX trim.

The top of the line Touring trim gets premium features like leather upholstery, 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat, 4-way power-adjustable passenger seat, and a fully loaded infotainment unit. The Touring trim even comes with a wireless charging pad for your smartphones. And the HondaLink app provides you with the car’s essential info such as the available range, mileage, oil life, and more on your smartphone. This makes it easier to keep an eye on service intervals as well as while planning a trip.

Civic Sedan Interior Colors and Materials

The honeycomb mesh interior trim not only looks attractive but looks visually streamlined. Looking at the interior images, the air vents are not visible. That's because they're neatly hidden behind the said mesh and can operate via knobs inspired by previous models. Other interior improvements inside the Civic include the metallic finish on the climate control knobs and a platinum-look coating on the interior door handles. The piano black center console finished. Interior color options for the latest Civic include black, gray, and Sport black.

Honda Civic Sedan Trunk and Cargo Space

The 2022 Honda Civic sedan has a cargo capacity rated at 14.8 cu-ft, which is good in the compact car segment. The trunk opening is large, and the Civic sedan comes standard with a one-piece folding second-row; 60/40 split-folding rear seats are optional.

2022 Honda Civic Cargo Space

However, the redesigned Civic hatchback has 24.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats. But the EX and Touring trims get split-folding rear seats which makes it easier to expand the cargo area in case you have some large luggage.

All of the cars in the segment do seem to have a cargo area as large as that of the Civic Sedan with only the Mazda 3 offering the smallest cargo area. The Hyundai Elantra and the Volkswagen Jetta seem to be toe to toe with the Civic whether it be cabin space or the cargo area.

Additional Interior Storage Spaces

Inside the 2022 Honda Civic Sedan, there are quite a number of small storage spaces neatly arranged around the cabin. The dashboard gets a large glove box, and all four door bins are neatly integrated with the door panels. Both the front and second rows get a pair of cupholders each and there’s quite a large storage bin underneath the front row armrest. The second row also gets seatback pockets.

2022 Honda Civic Sedan Interior Verdict

Honda has not only made a bold and confident statement with the 2022 Civic Sedan with respect to its looks and design inside out, but they have also made sure to keep the comfort and practicality quotient intact. The redesign did reduce the cargo space ever so slightly but the 2022 Civic sedan still offers one of the best in the class cabin and cargo space. So, overall, you can say that the interior of the Honda Civic sedan is comfortable enough to be your daily driver.
