We Recommend

Priced just $2600 more than the base Blue trim, the SEL Convenience trim offers great features at the price of $31,650. Although the base Blue trim is quite the bargain in itself, the SEL Convenience ups the ante. So, that is what we’ll recommend. The Limited is a little too pricey.

What’s the expected price and release date of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid line-up gets three options, the base Blue model, SEL Convenience package, and top-end Limited trim. The price range is expected to be from $29,050 to $37,350. The subcompact SUV is expected to hit US shores around the beginning of 2022.

Engine and Performance

The new Tucson Hybrid houses a potent engine and transmission combination. Being a hybrid, the SUV gets a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine along with a highly efficient 44.2 kW electric motor. The highly endorsed HTRAC All-Wheel Drive system is standard across all trims. The hybrid powertrain is mated to a 6-speed Automatic transmission. This results in a total combined output of around 226 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.

2022 Hyundai Tucson hybrid SUV In Acceleration Mode

When it comes to acceleration, the new Hyundai Tucson delivers bang on the money. It can clock a 0-60 time of around 7.2 seconds. Competitors like Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and Ford Escape Hybrid take around 7.5 and 8.7 seconds respectively for the 0-60 mph mark.

The most powerful of the lot is the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid that gets a comparatively smaller but potent engine. The price range of Tucson is cutthroat to competitors. All SUVs in this class get CVT transmission except the Tucson Hybrid which sports a 6-speed automatic. Apart from the impressive performance and exhilarating acceleration, the new Tucson also handles fairly well.

How does the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid handle?

Hyundai seems to have emphasized a lot on the handling front as well. New technologies like e-Handling focus on delivering better traction, especially on the tighter corners. The all-new HTRAC all-wheel-drive system comes as standard across all the trims, while the re-tuned suspension system takes care of ample road performance.

The new Hybrid sports a Power rack and pinion steering setup that assures better control at high speeds. Apart from this, the hybrid system also plays a vital role in the optimum handling of the SUV, as it ensures smoother power delivery through the powertrain.

Fuel Economy

All three versions of the Hybrid SUV get the same powertrain setup. The new all-wheel-drive system is also common across all the trims. The new Tucson will offer a combined mileage of 38 MPG thanks to the efficient hybrid engine. All these figures are EPA estimates though. Moreover, with a massive 13.7-gallon fuel tank and hybrid technology underneath, the SUV offers a staggering 520 plus miles of range.
