The INFINITI Q60 has always stayed in the shadows compared to its more modern competitors in the midsize coupe segment with dwindling sales figures, but the 2022 model is expected to get a mild facelift which will improve the design, interiors, and add a lot more features. No changes are expected on the mechanical side of things, and the Q60 will continue to get the turbocharged V6 engine in two states of tune. A slight power bump is expected for the facelifted model.

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

No official announcements have been made yet, but we can expect INFINITI to reveal the 2022 Q60 soon, and it should reach showrooms by the fourth quarter of 2021. Prices are expected to be similar to the outgoing 2021 Q60 and will range from $42,000 for the base pure model to $61,000 for the Red Sport model with 400 hp on tap. The INFINITI Q60 is the only sporty 2-door model in the brands’ lineup, and there’s a lot on the line for the new model.

2022 Infiniti Q60 Features

The 2022 Infiniti Q60 is expected to be offered in the three trims, similar to the 2021 model year, namely Pure, Luxe, and Red Sport, all with the option for an AWD system. While the base Pure and Luxe trims are expected to be powered with the 300 hp engine, the Red Sport will get the 400 hp V6 engine.

In terms of features, the Q60 coupe comes well loaded even in its base trim while the higher trims add creature comforts to the party.

We Recommend

The performance from the base engine setup is pretty solid too and it also comes loaded with plenty of features as standard, and hence it is best to opt for the base Pure trim and get additional options as needed to save costs.

What’s the expected price and release date of the 2022 INFINITI Q60 Coupe?

With all the updates, we can expect a slight bump in prices ranging from $42,000 to $60,000. INFINITI hasn’t announced any official release dates yet, but we can expect the 2022 model to reach showrooms by late 2021.

2022 Infiniti Q60 Engine and Performance

The 2022 INFINITI Q60 will continue to get the same 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6 engine in two states of tune. The 7-speed automatic is carried over which also offers manual shifting. The base models produce 300 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque while the Red Sport model bumps it up to 400 hp and 350 lb-ft.

The Q60 continues to stand out among entry-level luxury coupes with its bigger and more powerful V6 engine which is easily tunable. Unlike the engine, the 7-speed torque converter automatic is a letdown with slow shifts and sluggish flappy paddle shifting, which makes the Q60 feel more like a cruiser rather than offering a sports car-like performance. Like the previous model, the new Q60 will also be available in an all-wheel-drive configuration.

2021 Data used for reference

A 0-60 MPH run is dealt with in just 5.4 seconds for the base model. The more powerful Red Sport trims cut it down to 4.5 seconds. Quarter mile times are 13.9 seconds for the base and an impressive 13.1 for the Red Sport model.

Despite the bigger engine and improved output, the 2022 INFINITI Q60 is slower than the Audi A5 Coupe which employs a smaller 2.0L engine. Both the BMW 4 Series coupe and Mercedes-Benz are slower than the Q60 by a fraction of a second.

How does the 2022 INFINITI Q60 Coupe Handle?

The INFINITI Q60 will continue to offer a balanced ride on the base 300hp models with a responsive steering and suspension setup. The Active steering system which is available as an option on the Red Sport does more harm than good and makes the steering too light and floaty with minimal feedback.

The Q60 is a heavy car and it shows in its handling characteristics. Overall, the Q60 feels more like a grand tourer and feels at home on the highway. The top-end Red Sport models also get adaptive dampers as standard for improved handling and putting that extra horsepower to good use.

2022 Infiniti Q60 Fuel Economy

The bigger engine, although more powerful, guzzles gas compared to rivals which use a more efficient setup. Efficiency figures will be similar to the outgoing model with 19 MPG in the city and 27 MPH on the highways. The Q60 will continue to get a huge 20-gallon fuel tank which returns an impressive 540 miles of range on the highway. Surprisingly, the more powerful Red Sport model returns 1 MPG more in the city.

Because of its bigger and more powerful drivetrain, the 2022 INFINITI Q60 is less efficient than its rivals, all of which get smaller and more efficient engines. The BMW 4 Series takes first place and slightly edges out both the Audi A5 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class with a combined rating of 27 MPG.

2022 Infiniti Q60 Interior

The 2022 INFINITI Q60 will continue to get a comfortable and luxurious cabin filled with more modern features expected. Everything from the dashboard to the door pads is covered in soft-touch materials. The dashboard might look complicated at first glance but all the controls are easy to access. The front seats offer exceptional support over longer journeys with plenty of bolstering.

Like most 2-door luxury coupes, the rear seats are cramped and best reserved for short journeys or children. INFINITI offers a lot of optional extras like heated front seats, leather upholstery, and more to spruce up the cabin. The trunk space continues to be a sore point for the Q60 with just 8.7 cubic feet on offer which severely hamper the overall versatility of the Q60, especially when compared to its rivals.

In terms of interior space and comfort, the BMW 4 Series Coupe offers the most space at the front and rear along with 12 cubic feet of cargo capacity. The INFINITI Q60 comes second in terms of front-seat space and comfort but is pushed down to the last place because of the cramped rear seats and limited cargo capacity compared to both the Audi A5 and Mercedes-Benz C Class Coupe.

The INFINITI Q60 continues to be the least practical luxury coupe in its class with just 8.7 cubic feet of cargo space on offer. The BMW 4 Series leads the pack with 12 cubic feet on offer, while both the Audi A5 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe offer slightly more than 10 cubic feet of storage. Some notable interior features include:

  • Power adjustable front seats with leather upholstery and heating
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Keyless entry with push-button and remote start
  • Power-adjustable steering wheel

2022 INFINITI Q60 Coupe: Infotainment and Connectivity

We can expect the 2022 model to receive the same InTouch infotainment system as last year’s model, which uses a dual touchscreen setup for its interiors. The dual displays do need some getting used to and are not as simple as they seem. There is some lag during input but it does its job for the most part. Some rivals do a better job despite having just one display, and the setup could’ve been executed better.

All models get an 8-inch display at the top and a 7-inch display at the bottom and include features like Apple Carplay and Android Auto, satellite and HD radio, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity. INFINITI also offers a 13-speaker audio system from Bose and a capable navigation system as optional extras. Overall, the dashboard looks cluttered for the most part and may look intimidating for new users. INFINITI could improve on the usability front. Some standout infotainment features include:

  • InTouch infotainment system with dual touchscreen displays
  • Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity
  • Bose 13-speaker audio system
  • Wi-Fi hotspot
  • Satellite and HD radio

2022 Infiniti Q60 Exterior

The INFINITI Q60 has always been a handsome car and we expect the trend to continue for 2022 with minimal changes. The Q60 looks other-worldly compared to most Japanese coupes with a bold and bulky design that looks good from all angles. The wide grille is flanked by LED headlights and a prominent body line surrounds the car.

The bulging wheel arches further improve the design with the well-placed side air vents. The typical kink in the rear window line is still on the Q60 which has become a signature trait of most INFINITI models. Overall, the 2022 INFINITI Q60 will continue to be a handsome coupe with plenty of performance to match its macho looks.

In terms of size, both the INFINITI Q60 and BMW 4 Series Coupe are larger with a wheelbase of 112.2 inches, with the length advantage going to the BMW. The Audi A5 is noticeably smaller with a wheelbase of 108.8 inches and lower height, while the Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe sits in the middle with average dimensions.

2022 Infiniti Q60 Safety

Neither the NHTSA nor the IIHS had crash-tested the 2021 Q60 for testing their safety standards but we hope they undergo testing this year. That being said, the slew of safety features and driver aids that Infiniti offers as standard for the Q60 is commendable. The additional features sweeten the deal even further by providing higher levels of safety for all its occupants. The most prominent features offered by Infiniti are mentioned below.

  • Lane Departure Warnings
  • Blind-spot warning
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring
  • Pre-Collision Safety System
  • Emergency Braking Assist
  • Adaptive Cruise Control

2022 Infiniti Q60 Final Verdict

With no major changes expected for 2022, the INFINITI Q60 will continue to be one of the best entry-level luxury coupes with plenty of performance and handsome looks. The interiors deserve special mention thanks to its spacious and comfortable front seats that make the Q60 feel like a class above.

The drivetrain and cargo capacity continue to be a letdown but the Q60 makes up for it with its high-quality interiors and extensive feature list. If you’re on the lookout for an entry-level luxury coupe with stunning looks at an affordable price, the INFINITI Q60 is a good option compared to its German rivals. The expected updates for the 2022 model will sweeten the deal even further.
