The 2022 Infiniti QX55 is offered in three trim levels, the Luxe, mid-range Essential, and a tech-packed Sensory. The QX55 is loaded with lots of tech as standard even for the base Luxe variant. For the Sensory model, we get to see a heads-up display and Infiniti’s ProPilot Driver Assistance system that offers semi-autonomous driving mode with automated steering, acceleration, and braking.

The Infiniti QX55 offers three well-balanced trim levels to choose from. But we recommend spending some extra bucks for the top-tier Sensory trim that packs a whole bunch of safety and tech features as standard. Although the performance remains the same across all three variants, the wide range of features in the Sensory trim make paying extra bucks worth it.

The QX55 will be powered by the same powertrain used in the QX50 – a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 capable of spitting out 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. The engine is a variable compression engine with the ratios varying to offer better efficiency or a better engaging drive. The engine is connected to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and is available with All-Wheel Drive (AWD). The engine feels sharp and is responsive, while the transmission also manages to hold its own with buttery smooth shifts.

The QX50 can sprint from 0-60 MPH in around 6.4 seconds, which is a decent figure but not overly impressive. Though the official timings of the QX55 are not known, we expect it to be somewhat similar to the QX50. Though the acceleration is reasonable, the rivals are slightly quicker, but that comes at a price as both BMW and Mercedes stand with an MSRP of around $6,000 above the asking price of Infiniti.

On paper, Infiniti produces the most power, but the Germans are not too far off. The Merc is the quickest, but only by a slight margin. The BMW comes last in power and torque output but it is also quite agile. With that being said, all the vehicles are quite close to each other when it comes to out-and-out performance.

How does the 2022 Infiniti QX55 handle?

The QX55 is expected to handle like the QX50, perhaps a little better. The steering is precise. Power can be transferred to the rear wheels to maximize traction when needed. The Japanese crossover will also come with various driving modes, each for a specific situation.

The ride should be fairly comfortable inside the crossover. There is a four-wheel independent suspension, which makes going over bumps quite a breeze. The cabin is also well insulated from the outside noise.

While no official data on the QX55’s fuel economy is released, since it uses the same powertrain as the QX50, we anticipate the figures to be similar. The QX50 manages an okay-ish fuel economy of 22 MPG for the city and 28 MPG for the highway. For combined driving, it will do 25 MPG. A gas tank of 16-gallons will be available, which will offer a range of 352/448/400 miles (estimated) on city/highway/combined driving, which is a decent range on a full tank.

The fuel tank capacity of the Infiniti works against it, and it cannot offer a range as high as the other cars. The Audi offers the best range, followed by the BMW. However, there is a slight chance of the Infiniti getting better at the efficiency front. Although, at this point, these are just speculations.

 The QX55 has a gorgeous and luxurious interior. It might remind one of the QX50, but it has its own touch. The dashboard has a stylish and unique design, with a chrome line that continues from one door, through the middle of the dash, into the other door. Lots of color options are available to spice up the interior. As expected, high-quality materials are used throughout the interior. The base trim comes in faux-leather upholstery, but you can upgrade to genuine leather and semi-aniline leather with a couple of extra bucks of course.

The highest trim will offer an open-pore wood trim, which would enhance the luxury factor. The seats are well-bolstered, and the front row should be very spacious. The rear seats will also be quite comfortable and spacious. The headroom will be compromised due to the sloping roofline but the legroom will be decent. The cargo capacity is around 26.9 cubic feet, which should fit a lot of stuff, including suitcases and luggage for a long trip, camping gear, or maybe your groceries. The rear seats can be folded to increase cargo capacity.

The Japanese crossover should be somewhere in the vicinity of its German counterparts when it comes to interior spacing. But it easily beats the Germans when it comes to cargo capacity. Though the Audi does come pretty close. Mercedes and BMW stand way back as they only offer 18 and 18.5 cubic feet of cargo space. Some interior features include:

2022 Infiniti QX55: Infotainment and Connectivity

The system is intuitive and fairly responsive.

The exhausts are rectangular with rounded edges to finish off that stylish and sporty demeanor. It rides on 20” wheels as standard. The Germans are all pretty close to each other in terms of weight. They are pretty close to each other in other dimensions too. The QX55 is also expected to be around the same weight and dimension.
