"Infiniti's mid-size three-row QX60 is all new for the 2022 model year and aims to move significantly up-market to win the hearts of premium-SUV buyers"- Car and Driver

With the Nissan Pathfinder just recently receiving a massive redesign, it was obvious that its luxurious cousin, the QX60 would get a similar treatment and Infiniti has ensured that the 2022 QX60 looks completely new compared to its predecessor. In terms of dimensions, the new QX60 is about 2 inches shorter than before, without getting any changes in the wheelbase. The 2022 QX60 also boasts 14.5-cubic-foot of cargo space.

The standard towing capacity of the 2022 QX60 is rated at 3,500 lbs, with an option to upgrade to a maximum towing capacity of 6,000 lbs (an increase of 1,000 lbs over the 1st gen QX60) on the Sensory trim with AWD and standard in the higher trims. In terms of rivals, the 2022 Infiniti QX60 takes on the likes of the all-new 2022 Acura MDX, Lexus RX 350L, Cadilac XT6, BMW X5, Lincoln Aviator, and the Mercedes-Benz GLE Class.

2022 Infiniti QX60 Buying Advice

We recommend going for the LUXE trim, priced at $46,150. It has a capable engine with an ample number of comfort and convenience features, making for a comfortable and fun driving experience. The Signature edition is a tad too expensive for the additional features it offers. Thus the LUXE trim would be the best bang for the buck for the QX60.

2022 Infiniti QX60 Features

The 2022 Infiniti QX60 will be available in 4 trims with an all-new and premium Autograph trim making its way into the lineup for the very first time. The company has introduced a Reservation Program for prospective buyers, allowing them the opportunity to be one of the first to receive their 2022 QX60 when the deliveries officially begin.

The 2022 QX60 comes with seven seats as standard, with all trims getting heated, 8-way power-adjustable “zero gravity” front seats with power lumbar adjustment. The driver’s seat gets dual occupant memory functionality linked with the outside mirrors. The second-row bench seat gets 60/40-split fold and one-touch release for easy third-row access, even when child safety seats occupy the second row.

2022 Infiniti QX60 Engine and Performance

"Nissan and Infiniti make some of the better CVTs in the industry, but even so this new transmission responds quicker when you need acceleration and is less prone to producing a droning engine sound during acceleration"- Edmunds

The 2022 Infiniti QX60 delivers on all of its promises with a completely new powertrain for the QX60. The engine is a carryover from the 2021 model, which means you get the same 3.5L V6 engine, which is capable of pumping out 295 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. The talking point, however, is the inclusion of an all-new 9-speed automatic transmission that replaces the old continuously variable transmission and promises to add more poise and confidence to the QX60’s handling.

2022 Infiniti QX60 SUV

Infiniti also introduces an Intelligent AWD system on the QX60, that is tuned to support the driver with all-wheel traction in any road condition. This rings in great news for people living in snowy conditions, although the AWD isn't a standard on any trim and comes in as an optional extra on trims for a premium of $2,000.

In terms of performance, there is little differentiation in the 0-60 timings of the cars, with the Lexus lagging behind the others due to its slightly sluggish transmission. On the quarter-mile run, it's locked at dead heat among all SUVs except for the Infiniti which bogs down due to its motor's inefficiencies. The Cadillac offers the most power in this list but it comes at a premium of over $6,000 compared to the Infiniti.

2022 Infiniti QX60 Fuel Economy

7.0/10

"The EPA hasn't posted any fuel economy estimates for the 2022 QX60 yet, but the previous model did well in this metric" - Car and Driver

The fuel economy is another major aspect that is influenced by the QX60’s powertrain updates. EPA hasn’t rated the new powertrain for the QX60 yet, but we speculate the MPG figures to be close to the outgoing model. The 2022 INFINITI QX60 is expected to get an MPG of 20 while strolling in the city and an MPG of 27 while cruising on the highway, fine enough for a mid-size SUV in this range.

This lends an equivalent combined MPG of 22 which is very frugal by SUV standards. Thus, the QX60 delivers out a mileage of 390 miles in the city and around 527 miles on the interstate. With the new powertrain, INFINITI is also focusing on better fuel efficiency standards.

2022 Infiniti QX60 Interior

6.0/10

"Clever packaging in the doors, underneath the console, and in the cargo floor open up more space inside, but the true charm inside is the second-row seats." - The Car Connection

A major overhaul in interior design can be clearly seen in the 2022 Infiniti QX60.  We have already seen a dramatic turnaround in material quality and cabin design inside the smaller QX50 SUV for the recent model year and similar themes seem to have been carried over in the QX60 as well. The cabin now looks more future-proof with good quality materials used all around.

2022 Infiniti QX60 SUV cockpit area

The 2022 QX60 features captain chairs as well with the standard seating capacity for 7 adults. The 2022 QX60 gets enhanced interior ambient lighting. The Autograph trim of the QX60 gets semi-aniline leather-appointed seating with contrast stitching and quilted leather that echoes ripples on a pond.

All 2022 QX60s get a 12.3-inch INFINITI InTouch Interactive Display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, while Wireless Apple CarPlay comes in as standard, you will still need to connect a USB for Android Auto integration. The touchscreen unit isn't the slickest to use of the lot and could take some time getting used to.

"The previous CUV had an element of ‘90s bubble-era shaping to it, but the newest model ditches the bulbous lines and bloated look in favor of taut sheetmetal that looks vastly more modern"- Motor1

The new 2022 INFINITI QX60 is entirely be based on the QX60 Monograph Concept. This concept car introduces a whole new design language for the SUV, which completely transforms its structure. The new design focuses on the Japanese concept of ‘Ma’, which represents a sense of minimalism. The front fascia is adorned with skinner headlights and a large mesh grille.

2022 Infiniti QX60 SUV

The body looks elegant with the smoothly sculpted panels. The rear center of gravity has been raised for a more athletic stance and the full-width taillights complement the look. The whole result is a breathtaking SUV from every angle. While Infiniti has not changed the wheelbase of the 2022 model, the Cargo capacity has seen an improvement over last year's model.

The QX60’s exterior dimensions are on par with all of its rivals in its segment. We expect some marginal changes in the exterior dimensions of the QX60 so that it maintains the harmonic proportions of a midsize SUV. Major Exterior Features include:-

  • LED Daytime Running Lights
  • Power-sliding tinted glass moonroof with one-touch auto-open/close, tilt feature, and sliding sunshade
  • Front door handle courtesy lights
  • Power-folding, heated outside mirrors with integrated turn signal
  • UV-reducing solar glass

2022 Infiniti QX60 Safety

8.0/10

"The QX60 brings to bear some of the best safety tech that Infiniti has to offer" - CNET Roadshow

Since the 2022 QX60 is is a brand new car, no crash testing agency has undertaken any safety tests on it. The previous year’s iteration hasn’t been tested yet either. However, Infiniti has bundled a ton load of safety features as standard in the 2022 model.

The 2022 QX60 features the new version of Infiniti's ProPilot Assist system. With the host of another active safety tech, the new INFINITI QX60 will be one of the safest SUVs on the road. Major safety features include:-

  • Forward collision warning with automated emergency braking
  • Lane centering system
  • Advanced Cruise Control
  • Lane departure warning with lane-keeping assist
  • Semi-autonomous driving mode
  • Traffic light recognition system
  • The backup collision intervention system

 2022 INFINITI QX60 vs 2022 Acura MDX

The Acura MDX and the INFINITI QX60 are almost neck-to-neck in the performance charts, with the latter emerging as the winner by a fine margin. The Acura had the upper hand over the QX60 with its Super Handling-AWD setup. However, INFINITI came up with a stern reply of its own, in the form of its all-new Intelligent AWD setup. The QX60’s new tech suite appears to be on par with the likes of Mercedes and Audi, while the MDX has a decent tech suite as well.

2021 Acura MDX

2022 INFINITI QX60 vs 2021 Cadillac XT6

The Cadillac XT6 is a fine gem of a midsize SUV with its refined engine and stylish design. However, the QX60 has a clear edge over the XT6 while pulling heavy loads. Both SUVs offer about the same fuel economy. The XT6 is easier to maneuver while parking than the QX60, but its larger turning radius makes it equally difficult to get out of tight spots. The QX60 is definitely the better choice for hauling passengers thanks to its larger seating capacity and interior dimensions. Both the SUVs are well-matched with their intuitive tech suite. In a nutshell, if you want to chauffeur passengers around, the QX60 is definitely the right choice or you may be better off with the XT6 if you travel within a small circle.

2022 Cadillac XT6

2022 Infiniti QX60 Final Verdict

The reimagined 2022 INFINITI QX60 certainly delivers on all of the promises made to its customer base. The QX60 hits the ball out of the park with its stylish exterior design. The SUV is also going through a renaissance in its interiors, technology, powertrain, and safety suite to place it at a more upmarket position in its segment. With rivals like the Acura MDX also upping their game for 2022, the all-new QX60 just looks like the right recipe for success for the Japanese stalwart.
