Detailed Review

The Infiniti QX80 earlier known as the QX56 has been one of the most successful SUV for the Infiniti. The QX80 is the biggest car made by Infiniti so far, it is about 17.5 ft. long and 6.5 ft wide. long story short it is a large 7-seater Luxury SUV with big boot space and lots of legroom. The QX80 still has its old school blend with modern technologies and maintains its classy aura.

The QX80 is priced at $63,850 for the standard model, sounds pretty affordable but can go to $90,000 price bracket for the top tier. It features a massive V8 with 7-speed automatic transmission. The QX80 comes standard with several driver assistance packages which comes really handy while driving a massive truck size SUV.

The QX80 competes against the Lexus LX570, Mercedes-Benz GLS 470 and Cadillac escalade ESV. Compared to the competition the QX80 seems to have an advantage over power and price but its old-school designing and a little outdated tech is a real drawback of this car.

The QX80's features are sufficient enough from both Luxury and safety perspective. The Standard variant with all-wheel drivetrain and technology package is enough to boost its performance and functionality.

Acceleration

The Infiniti QX80 hits 0-60 mph in only 6.2 sec with a quarter mile margin of 14.8 sec, it is pretty impressive for a heavy SUV like this. The 413 lb.-ft. torque sure pays off. Compared to the QX80 the Mercedes GLS 450 being less powerful performs 0.1 sec better whereas the Lexus stays way behind. The Cadillac ESV leads the segment which was pretty obvious.

2017 Infiniti QX80 Interior

6.9/10
"There's plenty of interior room to go around, and in spite of thick pillars the visibility is good, with a high seating position and big mirrors. That said, the control layout isn't the best we've seen, and some controls require a bit of a reach. The QX80's truckish roots show through again. - Edmunds"

Dimensions and Weight

The QX80 has not much changed in the past two or three years or among the variants in terms of exterior styling. It has the old-school square shaped body design with a wide bonnet that gives it very muscular look. The LED lights give it an aggressive vibe with the chrome finish for more classy looks. It is not aerodynamic but it is massive.

2017 Infiniti QX80 Competition

Cadillac Escalade ESV vs Infiniti QX80

The Cadillac escalade ESV is $76, 590 SUV that features a 420hp powerhouse. It is the only car in this bracket that totally overpowers the QX80. It has better performance, cargo space, fuel economy and is most costly. But Cadillac has the one thing that Infiniti lacks, the Cadillac is equipped with latest modern day technologies, features and infotainment system.

In simple words, Cadillac Overpowers the Infiniti QX80 in every aspect has proven itself to be the best in the class SUV.

Mercedes-Benz GLS 450  vs Infiniti QX80

The GLS is pretty famous for their ride experience, luxury, power, performance and are considered as the most versatile SUV today. It is modern, luxurious and features several hi-end features. The GLS 450 features a less powerful 362 hp engine which offers acceleration and fuel economy than the QX80.

With a price tag of 68,695 the GLS is a better option than the QX80 but in case you prefer old school simple but luxurious car then the Infiniti QX80 wins fair and square.

2017 Infiniti QX80 Final Verdict

The QX80 is a luxurious car from its core design for smooth comfortable rides suitable for professional use or long rides but, it also performs extraordinary in off-road or extreme conditions. The QX80 has only one major drawback and that is being outdated, most of its standard features, infotainment features and even the body design are old and controls are analog.

With a price tag of only $63,850 it is the most affordable luxury SUV you can get. In terms of luxury and safety this car has no match. Infiniti also made sure that it doesn't suffer for its lack of techs. So, if you really don't care about the tech and stuff this is the one for you.
