The Jaguar E-Pace is undoubtedly a desirable option for a sub-compact luxury SUV. It was the second Jaguar SUV in production when it was formally unveiled on July 13, 2017. The five-seat Jaguar E-PACE is a compact SUV that combines the appearance and performance of a Jaguar sports car with a vehicle that is luxurious, useful, and connected. The F-TYPE sports vehicle served as an inspiration for the appearance, which features the recognizable Jaguar grille, muscular proportions, low overhangs, and potent haunches. The E-PACE is one of the most connected and intelligent automobiles in its class, with excellent interior space for a vehicle of this class.

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

For the 2023 model year, the E-Pace saw a slight upgrade that added new headlights, changes to the front and rear fascias, and an improved infotainment system that makes use of Jaguar's Pivi Pro software. The previous base 250 and 300 Sport versions have been discontinued, making the P250 SE the only E-Pace trim level available for 2023. Blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control are two features that were formerly optional but are now standard. However, numerous options, like a more potent engine, a surround-view parking camera system, and an instrument panel that is entirely digital, are no longer available. Additionally, the 2023 E-Pace MSRP increases by nearly $7,000 from starting price of the 2022 model now starting just at $48,000. It competes withMercedes Benz GLA 250, Volvo XC40, and BMW X1.

Features

The Jaguar E-Pace has undergone a significant shift this year with the introduction of a single version. It was initially the second trim level out of three. AWD, a 7-inch instrument panel display, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and proximity keyless entry are now included as standard features. The Premium Black Pack, a new option package for this year, includes black exterior accents, adaptive/configurable dynamics, and 21-inch gloss black alloy wheels. For $1,450, a Dynamic Handling package includes the configurable/adaptive dynamics alone and red-painted brake calipers. A panoramic roof, roof rails, hands-free tailgate operation, side steps, heated windshield/washer jets/steering, heated rear seats, Activity Key, Wi-Fi, head-up display, configurable driver information display, 360-degree camera system, rearview camera mirror, and a 15-speaker/650-watt Meridian surround-sound system are among the additional features.

We recommend

The Jaguar E-Pace has recently undergone stylistic and technological upgrades to become a refined and opulent small SUV. The only trim P250 SE is well-equipped. It provides a variety of options, for those who like an adventurous look we recommend the Dynamic Handling Package and the convenience Package, which features Configurable Adaptive Dynamics, convenient extra power outlets, and a Powered Gesture Tailgate. It also adds more driver aids, sharper-looking lighting, and enhanced infotainment. The Activity Key also facilitates quicker and easier access to your vehicle.

Engine and Performance

7.4/10

The only available engine for the 2023 Jaguar E-Pace is a 2.0 turbocharged four-cylinder is mated with a nine-speed automatic transmission which may have an occasional lag before downshifting. It is used to generate a powerful engine output of 246hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. The engine promptly shuttles you off the line and has plenty of power to propel you to higher speeds. It can run 0 to 60 mph in just 7 seconds and can cover a quarter mile in just 15.6 seconds. The all-new E-Pace comes standard with all-wheel drive. Additionally, It provides a brake-based Torque Vectoring option, which when combined with the AWD system of the vehicle, aids the driver in quick on-road turns and improves traction when driving off-road.

The E-Pace's engine is more potent than the ones in Mercedes and BMW vehicles. But the Volvo XC40 outperforms it with an engine output of 248 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. It can run 0-60 mph in just 6 seconds and a quarter mile in 14.5 seconds. Mercedes Benz GLA 250 comes second on the list as it can run 0-60 mph in 6.8 seconds and a quarter mile in 14.9 seconds. It also has the best top speed of 149 mph. Jaguar can run 0-60 mph in 7 seconds and a quarter mile in 15.6 seconds.

However, BMW X1 falls a little behind with its top speed of 129 mph. It can run 0-60 mph in 6.8 seconds and a quarter mile in 15.2 seconds

2023 Jaguar E-Pace Ride And Handling

Every Jaguar E-Pace comes with all-wheel drive (AWD) as well as All Surface Progress Control, an off-road cruise control feature that handles the throttle and gearshifts so the driver can focus on steering. Due to its low center of gravity, it handles athletically, almost like a sports car. The E-ride Pace's comfort isn't particularly good. It lurches you through town and bumps over potholes even with the relatively modest wheels that are supplied. When you increase your speed, things don't really get better because the E-Pace still wiggles around a little bit, even on a smooth-surfaced highway. The suspension set is a little too firm. Additionally present, brake-based torque vectoring regulates each wheel's speed to improve cornering stability. Unsurprisingly, adaptive dynamics involves an adaptive suspension that automatically responds to changing situations. Drivers can switch between modes like Comfort and Sport, though. These systems are available as part of the Dynamic Handling or Premium Black packages.

2023 Jaguar E-Pace Braking Performance

The 2023 Jaguar E-Pace comes equipped with brake rotors measuring 13.7 and 11.8 inches at the front and rear with its competitive curb weight of 3,925 lbs is expected to be very efficient in deceleration and it additionally, helps the vehicle to stop at approximately around 184 ft with its 70-0 MPH test. It is equipped with 3.7-in vented disc brakes that make it simpler for you to safely reduce your speed, apply the brakes, and prevent collisions. Even after numerous braking cycles, these brake discs continue to deliver excellent braking. Additionally, it has an automatic emergency braking system that will alert you if a car in front of you suddenly stops, or really anything else that could lead to a collision. If you continue to refuse to apply the brakes, AEB will step in and stop the vehicle to avert a potential collision or lessen the severity of an impending collision.

Fuel Economy

For the luxury subcompact SUV market, the E-fuel Pace's economy is below average. According to the EPA, the new Jaguar E-Pace gets 20 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg overall. It provides a range of 354 miles in the city, 460.2 miles on the highway, and 407 miles combined thanks to its larger fuel capacity of 17.7 gallons. According to Car and Driver, In prior highway testing, the now-discontinued P250 achieved a fuel economy rating of 27 MPG, although we haven't yet driven the 2023 P250 SE on our 75 mph highway fuel-economy route as part of our thorough testing regimen.

Interior

7.0/10

The cabin of the 2023 Jaguar E-Pace is adorned with a wealth of luxurious materials and tasteful design features. Furthermore, even at high speeds, the cabin is silent, making it very simple to enter, as is pretty standard for a small SUV. The seat and steering wheel can be adjusted to a significant extent, and the driver has a pretty prominent view of the road ahead. Although the doorway for the back passengers is a little bit smaller, it is still simple to slide across once inside thanks to the low seat cushion. But even though the E Pace's rear legroom isn't particularly wide, taller passengers should have sufficient room to be comfortable. The gearshift of the E-Pace is stitched in a design like a cricket ball. Along with heated front seats and perforated leather upholstery, other interior features include Leaping Cat insignia embroidered onto the front headrests. Particularly when you select the optional driver information display, there is an overall impression of subtly indulgent technology.

Exterior

The 2023 E-Pace should be more than appealing to anyone who enjoyed the design of earlier Jaguar SUVs, such as the larger F-Pace and electrified I-Pace. The 2023 Jaguar E-PACE has a modern, aerodynamic look that is enhanced by a new grille that has been only slightly updated, cutting-edge pixel LED headlights with animated turn signals, and distinctive double-J daytime running lights. 19-inch wheels and opulent chrome highlights enhance the athletic appeal. Additionally, convenience features include a controlled tailgate and heated, power-folding door mirrors with quite an auto-dimming driver's side mirror. The side window surrounds are now satin black rather than chrome, giving it a little more somber appearance this year. The new-for-2023 Premium Black options bundle notably includes external accents and 21-inch alloy wheels in the same dark-tinted hue as the tires, continuing down that gloomy route. Fuji White is the only free paint option available. Carpathian Grey Metallic and Silicon Silver cost $1,350, although the rest of the premium paint options cost $650.

Safety

The 2023 E-Pace has not undergone crash testing by either the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. However, we anticipate that the 2023 Jaguar E-PACE will come standard with cutting-edge InControl driver assistance and safety technologies, which will accompany you on every trip. The E-Pace was developed by using a range of ultra-high strength steels, lightweight aluminum, sophisticated composites, and precision techniques. It can deliver Jaguar characteristics and adhere to stringent international safety regulations. The body's framework is extremely rigid and powerful. The key to achieving this is torsional stiffness of 28.7kN/degree, by heavily utilizing high-strength and ultra-high-strength steels in crucial load-bearing places, crash impact performance is improved and weight is reduced.

The Jaguar E-2023 PACE's driver assistance and safety features include

  • Forward collision warning
  • Forward automatic emergency braking
  • Pedestrian and cyclist detection
  • Stop-and-go adaptive cruise control
  • Driver-attention monitoring
  • Lane-departure warning
  • Lane-keep assist
  • Traffic-sign recognition
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Rear cross-traffic alert

Competition

2023 Jaguar E-Pace vs 2023 Mercedes Benz GLA 250

The Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 is a small SUV that has all the features that first-time luxury customers need. However, even if the GLA offers a shitload of technology as a choice, the price can easily rise. It shines out in the luxury category due to its upscale design and practical features, despite the fact that the Jaguar E-Pace is more fun to drive. The Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 comes with a big interior, superior suspension, and greater fuel economy, ensuring that this swift SUV is also a very practical vehicle. E-Pace, on the other hand, has more storage and is nearly like a sports car in terms of its good handling and solid road grip. If you prefer comfort and luxury over sporty style and performance at a far cheaper cost, Mercedes might be a better choice.

2023 Jaguar E-Pace vs 2022 Volvo XC40

The compact Jaguar XC40 SUV is a charming little vehicle that inherits the Volvo brand's genetic good looks. Its smooth ride, roomy interior, and fantastic optional music system have us completely enamored. Overall, we believe the XC40 is one of the class standouts, despite some drivers' potential problems with the front seat ergonomics and touchscreen interface. Both the Volvo XC40 and the Jaguar E-Pace offer comparable engine options, but the XC40 performs better and has a more responsive transmission. Additionally, the XC40 is estimated to have higher fuel efficiency than the E-Pace. But compared to the XC40, the E-Pace has larger cargo space, but less room for passengers in the back seats. Therefore, we would recommend Volvo XC40 over Jaguar E-Pace.

2023 Jaguar E-Pace vs 2022 BMW X1

The performance and driving pleasure of the 2022 BMW X1 are both excellent. Although the design is fairly plain, the level of comfort is acceptable. BMW and Jaguar both have comparable engine performance. The hunkered-down design of the E-exterior Pace serves as a visual cue that this vehicle is intended to be both utilitarian and entertaining. The X1 is more focused on function, in comparison. Its boxy, angular design gives it a welcoming appearance. Compared to the E-Pace, the X1's design is less cutting-edge. The success of the E-Pace likely depends significantly on having an engaging driving experience, which could pose a significant challenge for BMW. Therefore, We think Jaguar E-Pace would be a better alternative.

Final Verdict

The E-Pace is a good choice if you can afford its high for the class starting price of $48,000. The Jaguar E-Pace is an excellent SUV. It is considered one of the most athletic options in the extra-small premium crossover SUV class since it comes standard with all-wheel drive and has rapid acceleration. The 2023 Jaguar E-PACE exudes confidence thanks to its sporty, aerodynamic design for exhilarating performance and its stylish interior outfitted with premium materials and the newest in-car technology. True Jaguar dynamics are delivered via Configurable Dynamics technology, which enables drivers to customize their throttle, steering, and transmission settings. Excellent agility and all-surface grip are provided by a lightweight suspension architecture, all-wheel drive, Active Driveline, and torque vectoring. An energizing engine and agile handling characterize performance, while premium materials are used inside. The infotainment systems are also easy to use, and the cargo room is respectable given the car's size.
