As Jaguar’s flagship SUV, the F-PACE has had a successful run globally and has managed to bring in a lot of new customers for Jaguar. With Land Rover and Jaguar being sister companies, you can find a lot of similarities between an F-PACE and a Land Rover SUV, but the F-PACE’s design and styling clearly suggest that it’s a Jaguar with some really recognizable and striking styling cues.
The success of the F-PACE not only increased Jaguar's customer base but also laid the foundation for new SUVs to be added to Jaguar's fleet. The 2020 Jaguar F-PACE comes in over 8 trim level choices, all in AWD drivetrain configuration. Prices start from $46,350 for the base trim level and go all the way up to $64,740 for the ‘Portfolio 30t’ trim level. It competes with the Audi Q5, the BMW X3, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300.

The Jaguar F-PACE is available in over 8 trim level options which are far more than what its rivals have on offer. Prices start from $46,350 for the base trim level and go all the way up to $64,750 for the ‘Portfolio 30t’ version. Both 25t and 30t versions come with a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 engine but the 30t produces more power and torque comparatively. There is also a 3 L supercharged V6 available with the ‘S’ trim level.
All trim level options come as AWD units only and the option to choose from 8 trim levels gives customers a chance to choose the perfect trim level according to their tastes and budget. The base trim level itself is a great one to start from with a plethora of standard features onboard while the higher trim levels add premium features inside out and offer you a wide range of personalization options.

Which trim should you buy?
The ‘Premium’ trim level seems to be the best option to go for as it is available at a price tag close to the $50,000 mark which makes it affordable compared to the rest of the trim levels and at the same time, there are some really good features on board such as 19-inch alloy wheels, ambient lighting, a Meridian sound system and much more.
Another really interesting trim level would be the ‘S’ trim as it comes with a sporty supercharged V6 engine along with a plethora of ‘S’ trim-specific design cues and features to go with the whole package. It surely is an expensive option at $63,250 but is worth the money spent on it by all means.
Engine and Performance
8.0/10
The 2020 Jaguar F-PACE is available in three powertrain configurations out of which the ‘25t’ models get a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 247 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, the ‘30t’ models get a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 unit as well but with a slight increase in horsepower and torque at 296 hp and 295 lb-ft, respectively. A 3.0L supercharged V6 that produces 380 hp and 332.0 lb-ft of torque is also available but only with the ‘S’ trim level.
The base powertrain unit lacks the punch and enthusiasm of the one in the ‘30t’ versions while the V6 is a sporty engine unit with a good amount of power and torque at your disposal. All engine units are mated to the same 8-speed automatic ZF transmission unit which comes with paddle shifters as well. The Jaguar F-PACE is only available as an AWD SUV and has some impressive off-road capabilities up its sleeves as well. The base F-PACE can accelerate from 0-60 MPH in 6.6 seconds and can cover a quarter-mile distance from a standstill in 15 seconds. The top speed is clocked at 142 MPH.

Opting for the ‘30t’ version of the F-PACE would be a better option compared to the ‘25t’ as its engine produces enough power and torque to keep up with its rivals’ performances. The Audi Q5 seems to have the best torque output in the class which makes it quicker than all of the SUVs in the class when it comes to 0-60 acceleration. The F-PACE with its base engine unit on the other hand seems to be the slowest in the class in terms of acceleration figures.
How well does the 2020 Jaguar F-PACE handle?
The F-PACE might seem like any other SUV in photos, but in person, it intimidates and intrigues you with its tall stance and looks at the same time. Its tall body might bring in somebody to roll with it but the suspension system does a great job of keeping it stable and planted no matter how hard you throw it around corners. One of the major factors contributing to the F-PACE’s stable yet subtle ride is the double-wishbone suspension system upfront and the Limited Slip Differential helps too.
2020 Jaguar F-PACE SUV ride and handling
You'll enjoy driving this vehicle more than anything else in its class. With high-performance trims like the S and Portfolio, the F-Pace handles exceptionally well and corners sharply. Its athletic performance and lightweight make the entire lineup feel like a sports car. Likewise, it rides comfortably over rough terrain, and the cushioning remains intact.
2020 Jaguar F-PACE Braking Performance
Compared to other SUVs in its class, the F-PACE might not have the largest brakes, but since it’s the lightest SUV in its class, it doesn’t need bigger brakes. The F-PACE gets 12.8-inch rotors in the front and rear which do a fantastic job of slowing it down without losing any confidence.
2020 Jaguar F-PACE SUV driving view
The braking has a promising feel and feedback to it and with a curb weight of 3,870 lbs., the F-PACE doesn’t struggle to come to a stop from 60 MPH in just 116 ft.

The Audi Q5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 might have the largest brakes in the class, but when their weight and stopping distances along with the feel and feedback from their brakes are taken into consideration, the F-PACE gets you the exact braking performance with much smaller brake rotors.
Fuel Economy
4.0/10
The Jaguar F-PACE offers moderate fuel economy compared to the rest of the SUVs in its class with its combined fuel economy being 24 miles per gallon. It offers 22 MPG in the city and 27 MPG in highway driving conditions respectively. The F-PACE does seem to have an edge over the other SUVs in terms of range though as it comes with a 21.7-gallon tank that helps it offer a combined range of 520.8 miles and a maximum range of 585.9 miles on the highway.

No other SUV in the class apart from the F-PACE offers a combined range of more than 500 miles which surely is one of F-PACE’s top USPs. The BMW X3 does have the best fuel economy in the class, but its smaller fuel tank capacity doesn’t help it to offer a better range than the F-PACE.
Interior
7.0/10
The Jaguar F-PACE’s interior design layout is a culmination of classy, sporty, subtle, and bold elements spread throughout the interior. The dashboard has a classy touch to it with its dual-tone configuration and leather upholstery while you can observe a clear Jaguar design element in the form of a line passing from one door, through the dashboard to the other door. The dashboard and the overall interior have several materials in them including leather upholstery, contrast stitching options, metal trim inserts, and aluminum elements here and there that add to the overall aesthetics and premium look of the interior. Features like a panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting seem to be the icing on the cake.

The front seats come with varied adjustability settings depending on the trim level chosen. The top trim levels offer you 12-way power-adjustable front seats along with 4-way lumbar control, heating, and ventilation features. The seats are nice and comfortable with confidence-inspiring lumbar and thigh support which are necessary for the driver. The rear seats are 40-20-40 split heated bench seats and are wide and provide you with adequate room in the back. The dual-zone automatic climate control unit also comes with the rear as well as a pillar, console, and under-seat ducts for added ventilation and comfort. The F-PACE gets the largest cargo capacity in the class with a standard volume of 33.5 cubic feet. You can also increase the cargo space by folding the second-row seats when you wish so. The tailgate also gets a remote power access function for added convenience.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 might be the most spacious SUV in its class, but it barely has the cargo capacity to match that of the F-PACE. This makes the F-PACE an easy, practical, and perfect car for your family with the amount of space inside. BMW and Audi, when examined closely, show that they have designed their vehicles to maximize space and to provide well-balanced seating. Some of the standout interior features are as follows:
Dual-zone automatic climate control unit with pillar, console, and under-seat ducts
12-way power-adjustable driver seat with power lumbar support
Heated sports steering wheel with leather upholstery
Heated and ventilated front seats
Heated rear seats
What’s there to keep you entertained?
When it comes to the infotainment system, Jaguar shares the same infotainment system like that of Land Rover since they are sister companies. The F-PACE gets a 10-inch touchscreen TFT display unit which has a clear and crisp resolution but seems to lag at times. The audio system available is from Meridian and the capacity of the system varies with the trim level chosen. The top trims get an 825W surround sound system with 17 speakers while the lower trims get smaller systems with lesser speakers. The F-PACE also comes with a host of connectivity features as standard which include Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and 4G Internet access WiFi hotspot. Some of the highlights of the infotainment system are as follows:
In-built navigation
SiriusXM satellite radio
10-inch TFT touchscreen infotainment display unit
Bluetooth phone connectivity with voice command
4G LTE WiFi Hotspot
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
825w Meridian surround sound system with 17 speakers
The 2020 Jaguar F-PACE is an unmistakable presence on the road with its large grille, sharp and striking LED headlamps along with LED daytime running lights along muscular and equally stunning side and rear profiles.

The tall stance and the long wheelbase do contribute to a heavy feel in the corners but the wide track width and the clever suspension system make sure that there isn’t much body roll to affect your handling. In this class of vehicles, it's interesting to note that all SUVs are rather similar in terms of their dimensions, making them highly comparable. Some of the standout exterior features are as follows:
20-inch 10 spoke wheels
Lip spoiler
Auto on/off LED projector headlamps with bold LED daytime running lights
Quasi-dual stainless exhaust pipe with chrome tailpipe finishers
The 2020 Jaguar F-PACE hasn’t been rated for safety by agencies like the NHTSA or IIHS for now, but we are pretty sure that the F-PACE would be one of the safest options in the class today as Jaguar Land Rover makes sure that their products always meet the best quality standards and safety requirements. The F-PACE comes with a plethora of safety features to further aid the safety of the occupants inside. These features include tire-specific low tire pressure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, front collision mitigation, and a backup camera. Some of the notable safety features of the 2020 Jaguar F-PACE include:

2020 Jaguar F-PACE 25t vs 2020 Audi Q5 45 TFSI
Compared to the Audi Q5, the Jaguar F-PACE does seem to be better looking inside out along with possessing a better cargo capacity. The Audi Q5 on the other hand has a better performance quotient and has a better infotainment system compared to the F-PACE. The F-PACE does seem to be a tad bit costlier than the Q5 but it surely has a much better ride quality.
2020 Jaguar F-PACE 25t vs 2020 BMW X3 30i
The BMW X3 is a very good package with the right amount of sportiness, comfort, quality, and value for money. The X3 does offer better fuel economy compared to the F-PACE but the F-PACE on the other hand comes with a larger fuel tank that helps it offer more range. The X3 also has a better infotainment system on offer compared to the F-PACE.
2020 Jaguar F-PACE 25t vs 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300
The Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 might offer you more space inside compared to the F-PACE but the F-PACE clearly has a balance between interior seating capacity and its cargo capacity. Both SUVs are practical options for families but the F-PACE has more cargo space and fuel range to offer compared to the GLC 300.
Final Verdict
The new Jaguar F-PACE might be a costlier option compared to its rivals but it certainly is worth its value. The wide range of trim levels and optional extras available makes it easy to configure an F-PACE according to your needs and preferences. The ability to choose between three powertrain units and several other options give you the freedom to configure an F-PACE that meets your budget restrictions and taste. It sure has its own drawbacks but when taking its pros into consideration, the F-PACE offers to be a practical and valuable option in the class by all means.
