Jaguar has created quite a name for its F-Pace in the mid-size luxury SUV market all over the world, especially in the US, and the SVR which is the top model in the lineup is just on a whole nother level of performance. The automaker has put together all its performance bits with excellent driving dynamics and a mammoth of a V8 engine to make it stand out in the crowd. That being said, the interiors are filled with opulence and up-to-date electronics to offer the consumers utmost comfort and opulence.

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

For the 2021 model year, the SUV has gone through a lot of changes with the design, so do not expect any significant updates for the 2022 model year. Priced at $84,600 for its 2022 model year, the Jaguar F-Pace SVR is not cheap and is more of an enthusiast SUV and competes with the other performance luxury midsize SUVs, mostly the Germans, such as the Porsche Macan Turbo, Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 4Matic, and the BMW X3 M. Can this British icon take on the German rivals? Let's check.

2022 Jaguar F-PACE SVR SUV Engine and Performance

The 2022 Jaguar F-Pace SVR gets the same 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine from the outgoing model year which churns out a bonkers 550 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of maximum torque. The SUV powers all four wheels as standard and comes mated to a buttery-smooth 8-speed shiftable automatic transmission. It feels lively whenever you feel like stomping on the throttle pedal and does accelerate like a bat out of hell. The engine sounds raspy while accelerating with the supercharger whine, and with the performance exhausts on, it’s just eargasm.

How do all these numbers translate to the real world? Well, it does pretty well in that regard. The SUV sprints to 60 miles an hour in just 3.8 seconds, which is fast, and does a quarter-mile in under 12.2 seconds. With a top speed of 178 mph, the 2022 Jaguar F-Pace SVR comes out to be the fastest option in the department. And when it comes to price tag, this Jaguar stands at the top as the most expensive option at $85,300.

The handling department has been well-maintained by the SVR as it gets a lot of sportier elements with it. The steering feels lighter and is assisted with power steering, which results in crisp and precise turns. The suspensions on offer are stiffer but not as much as some of its rivals which makes the ride comfortable and helps take down corners without any hassle. The rear gets a limited-slip differential which helps in getting more traction while getting onto corners at a higher speed, especially on a track.

The Jag is the most powerful in the lot with a considerable amount of power bump over the competition. It is followed by the BMW and Merc, and at last, stands the Porsche. In terms of accelerations, the Jaguar manages to perform decently in the 0-60 mph but stays behind in quarter-mile. The BMW, on the other hand, does accelerate quickly and completes the quarter-mile the fastest in the competition.

2022 Jaguar F-PACE SVR SUV Fuel Economy

The SVR packs a big 5.0-liter engine and produces a lot of power and also drives all 4 wheels. All these factors lead to sipping a lot of gas, but apparently, that is not the case with this British SUV. The EPA rated the same with 15 MPG in the city, a good 22 MPG on the highways, and a combined economy of 18 MPG. It comes equipped with a big 21.7-gallon gas tank, resulting in a range of 390.6 combined miles per full tank. Luckily, you don’t have to stop frequently to top up like some of the rivals in the competition.

The Jag and Merc offer very similar EPA ratings, but the latter packs a smaller gas tank which leads to the lowest range in the competition. The Porsche offers a slightly better city mileage but goes a mile less than the Jag and Merc on the highways, but packs a bigger gas tank than the Merc. The fuel economy delivered by the BMW is not as exciting as the other SUVs, but considering the performance it puts out for us, it is decent.

2022 Jaguar F-PACE SVR SUV Interior

The interior of the 2022 Jaguar F-Pace SVR is the highlight of the entire vehicle as it is luxurious and sporty at the same time. Every bit of the cabin has been carefully engineered with high-quality materials. The front has the stitched leather and suede dashboard which holds the big infotainment screen at the center, and the new driver information display offers excellent visuals with highly customizable options.

The steering wheel comes leather-wrapped with silver accents around the control buttons and a silver Jaguar logo at the center. You also get paddle-shifters as standard. Both the front and rear seats are leather-covered, where the front has sports seats with power-adjustability, heating, and cooling functions. The seats overall are very comfy, and it could be a great tourer.

The cabin can easily accommodate up to 5 people without any issues, although the headroom on offer is slightly on the lower side, however, that won’t be an issue except for someone extremely tall. The legroom is ample even at the rear row, which is good for passengers during long-distance touring. The cargo capacity on offer is 33.5 cubic feet and can easily accommodate your daily and weekend luggage.

All four SUVs are spacious enough to fit up to 5 people, but the BMW offers more front row space. Both the Jag and Merc offer a more balanced space in both rows. The Jag also comes equipped with a class-leading cargo capacity and is followed by the Bimmer. Meanwhile, both Merc and Porsche offer significantly lower cargo volumes in the competition. A few of the interior highlights are:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Leather steering wheel with heating functions
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • 12.3-inch driver information display
  • 14-way power-adjustable front seats with heating and cooling functions
  • Premium leather seats
  • Keyless ignition

2022 Jaguar F-PACE SVR SUV Exterior

The 2022 Jaguar F-Pace SVR looks unchanged from the model it replaces. In terms of design, it's not just minimal but elegantly designed with attention to detail. Jaguars have been mimicking the front fascia of a "Jaguar" with those sharp LED headlights and the eyebrow-like hood overlay with the big meshed intake grille. The sides have huge 21-inch alloy wheels, which add up to the character of the SUV. The rear design seems to be inspired by Land Rover, which is its sister company and does have sleek LED taillights with quad-tipped performance exhaust as standard.

The Jag is slightly bigger in the competition in terms of the overall dimensions but also weighs the least. The BMW gets the highest ground clearance in the competition, ensuring it can get off the tarmac easily. When comparing the curb weight, the BMW X3 M is the heaviest option in the competition at 4,620 lbs. Both Mercedes and Jaguar offer the longest wheelbase of the lot at 113.1 inches, ensuring better space for the passengers sitting inside. A few of the key exterior features include:

  • Sharp-looking LED headlights, DRLs, and taillights
  • A set of 21-inch alloy wheels
  • Crimson-colored brake calipers with Jaguar engraved
  • Rear performance quad exhaust tips
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Rain-sensing wipers
  • Heated and powered mirrors

2022 Jaguar F-PACE SVR SUV Safety

The SVR gets a better braking system than the regular F-Pace and does come with a bigger set of 15.6-inch front and rear brake rotors. Although these are carried over from its outgoing model, the braking feels better as Jaguar has recalibrated the setup. The SUV comes to a stop at a claimed 116 feet from 60 mph, which is quite impressive, given the SVR has a curb weight of over 4,000 pounds. This braking performance of the F-Pace SVR reveals Jaguar's concern for the safety of the vehicle and the passengers inside.

Being a premium compact SUV, the F-Pace SVR did not get tested for its crash resistance by the NHTSA and IIHS, but Jaguar comes highly recommended in terms of safety. The chassis is shared with the Range Rover Velar, which has been a very successful model from the iconic luxury British brand, Land Rover. With a sturdy chassis and loads of safety features on offer, the SVR is fully equipped in terms of safety and tech. A few of the major safety features are:

  • Blindspot warning
  • Lane departure warning
  • Emergency braking preparation
  • Pre-collision safety collision
  • Post-collision safety collision
  • Tire pressure monitoring

2022 Jaguar F-PACE SVR SUV Competition

2022 Jaguar F-Pace SVR vs 2022 Porsche Macan Turbo

Porsche has been working well in delivering the performance and handling of their iconic sports cars into their newly bred SUVs, and that worked quite well with the Macan. Similarly priced to the Jaguar, it is sportier to drive and adequately comfortable. On the other hand, the F-Pace SVR is in another league when it comes to the overall fit and finish and interior luxury. Not only the interiors, the engine makes more power and torque. At last, the choice between handling and power remains in your hand.

2022 Porsche Macan Turbo

2022 Jaguar F-Pace SVR vs 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 4Matic

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 4Matic comes cheaper than the F-Pace SVR as Mercedes has surely done some cost-cutting. It is pretty evident in the interior, the materials are not the most premium, however, it offers a lot of features that are also available with the SVR. Except for the engine output, almost everything they offer is identical, be it fuel economy, cabin room, and exterior dimensions. The Merc is a more value-for-money option between the two as it is significantly cheaper.

2022 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 4Matic

2022 Jaguar F-Pace SVR vs 2022 BMW X3 M

The 2022 BMW X3 M has the lowest price tag in the competition and serves as a better family SUV with top-notch reliability, decent cabin room, and top-notch overall design. However, the F-Pace SVR is the sportier SUV between the two and offers more power, better fuel economy, and top-notch luxury and opulence. BMW takes a decent lead against the Jaguar in the quarter-mile timings, but Jaguar manages to counter it with better practicality in the name of class-leading cargo capacity. At last, the choice remains with you.

2022 Jaguar F-PACE SVR SUV Final Verdict

If you are willing to commit to the luxury, extensive features, growling V8 power, and a lot more at $85,300, then the 2022 Jaguar F-Pace SVR is for you. The rivals in the competition manage to offer better acceleration performance but Jaguar defends itself with class-leading power and torque figures. Although it might not be the most sensible or the most practical, it still is capable of being a daily driver while being a beast on the road when needed, and for that very reason, the Jaguar F-Pace SVR is worth it.
