The Jaguar F-Type Convertible, ever since its debut is legendary in itself and hopefully, it will continue to be. It has long been considered an American muscle version of the Jaguar E-type that attracted lots of attention while in production throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Power and driver involvement are key features of the F-Type. It is agile and stylish and delivers a driver-oriented cockpit and all of this without sacrificing comfort. This new 2021 model offers a revised grille, upgraded wheels and colors, and brand-new features for even more fun on the road.

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

The Jaguar F-Type Convertible provides spirited power through a 296hp 2.0L L4 engine. The convertible top smoothly integrates with the fresh, powerful exterior styling to create an exciting look that will unlock any heart. The F-Type comes completely loaded with leather seats, heated seats, a navigation system, Bluetooth, and adaptive cruise control for safety and visibility on the road. It stacks up well against other hotshots like the Porsche 911 Carrera Convertible, Chevrolet Corvette Convertible, and BMW M4 Convertible.

The 2021 Jaguar F-Types come in four different trim levels: P300, First Edition P300, R-Dynamic P380, and F-Type R. All four trims are available in a coupe and convertible body styles. The focus of this review is the First Edition P300 Convertible and F-Type P300 Convertible trims, while the R-Dynamic and R trims are covered in separate reviews. Starting at $64,700, the P300 Convertible trim features a 4 cylinder turbocharged engine with 296 horsepower, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and a rear-wheel drive.

It comes equipped with a lot of standard features that include push-button start, remote start, remote keyless entry, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats, 10-inch touch screen, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, Bluetooth, a USB port, HD Radio, satellite radio, a 10-speaker stereo, LED headlights, and 18-inch wheels. Standard safety features include driver drowsiness monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist, and a rearview camera.

The F-Type First Edition convertible is priced at $75,400. With this trim, you'll get 20-inch wheels, aluminum interior accents, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, but your standard features and engine power will remain the same as the P300 base model. In addition to these, there are many packages and options that can be added to the F-Type convertible to make it more attractive and perform better. There is a Black Exterior package that is priced at $1,100 and a Black interior package that starts at $310.

Which trim should you buy?

Most shoppers will find the F-Type P300 Convertible to be an excellent choice. A turbocharged engine powers this car, as does its wealth of standard features. First Edition P300 trims receive very few upgrades while keeping the same powertrain. However, if you're aiming for high performance, you should consider buying the F-Type R instead. Only this trim is offered with a V8 motor.

Engine and Performance

With the same engine options as the 2020 Jaguar F-Type Convertible, the 2021 model carries over. P300 and First Edition Convertible trim come with a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine that produces 296 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. With an 8-speed automatic transmission, the engine's power is sent to the rear wheels.

Shifting through the gears is smooth and instantaneous. 2021 will be the first model year where Jaguar does away with the AWD model. The 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine under the hood produces 296 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, allowing the 2021 Jaguar F-Type Convertible to sprint from 0 - 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds. With a top speed of 186 mph, the 2021 F-Type can complete a quarter-mile run in just 14.1 seconds

The Porsche with the bigger 3.8-liter flat-6 engine has an advantage over all the other cars in the segment when it comes to power and torque figures. Moreover, the Jaguar, Corvette, Porsche, and BMW are available as rear-wheel-drive models. Compared to the C8 Corvette and Porsche, the 2.0-liter Jaguar F-Type falls quite behind in the 0 - 60 mph test. Due to their higher horsepower engines, the Porsche, Chevy, and BMW outperformed the F-Type with respect to acceleration.

How well does the 2021 Jaguar F-Type Convertible handle?

This is a crucial factor for most drivers, many of which dedicate a substantial amount of their time to driving. This model offers enhanced handling wherever the pavement ends. The 2021 Jaguar F-Type Convertible is equipped with 18 x 7.5-inch wheels and P235/55 R18 all-season performance tires designed to withstand a speed rating of 171 mph.

Handling-wise, the 2021 Nissan GT-R NISMO produces spectacular results. Every aspect of its construction has been precisely engineered for optimal handling. Nothing short of handling like a professional race car, and with its optimized aerodynamic design, and electronic controls, you can navigate even the tightest curves and turns.

2021 Jaguar F-Type Convertible Braking Performance

A sports car should have sensitive and accurate pedals, and the Jaguar F-Type 2021 has these qualities. It is fitted with a lot of driver assistance systems, aside from carbon ceramics, which are preferred on the F-Type. Furthermore, it encourages drivers to push their cars to their limits without compromising safety. As the car's front rotors measure 14 inches in diameter and its rear rotors measure 12.8 inches, it can be easily slowed down. With its excellent braking system, the Jaguar F-Type comes to a full stop in just 109 feet from 60 mph.

With the base model Jaguar's brakes, it comes to an abrupt halt in just 109 feet. Porsches have always dominated the class in terms of braking, so it does not seem such a big deal in comparison to the Carrera's 99 feet. We are reassured by Jaguar's determination to improve the brake pedal's confidence, rather than by the length of stopping distances or rotor diameter.

Fuel Economy

In general, supercars do poorly in terms of fuel economy, but the Jaguar F-Type Convertible amazes with impressive mpg rates. In the city, the car gets 23 mpg, on the highway, it gets 30 mpg, and in the combined mode it gets 26 mpg. With a fuel tank capacity of 16.6 gallons, it can travel up to 431 miles on a single tank of fuel. Among the competition, this vehicle performs the best in terms of fuel economy.

Since sports cars usually have powerful and fuel-hungry engines, they generally do not have good fuel efficiency. The Porsche 911 Carrera offers the second-best combined mileage in the competition with 20 mpg. Both the Chevy Corvette and BMW M4 Convertible return an estimated 19 mpg combined.

The Jaguar F-Type convertible is unique, exciting, and comfortable. In comparison to the vehicle's extravagant exterior, the interior is somewhat disappointing. Because the dashboard's plain design has started to look quite dated, this is partly to blame. However, it features soft-touch plastics and leather-covered surfaces that are on par with rivals in its class, and there's very little wind and road noise based on sports cars' standards. Front and side visibility is satisfactory on the F-Type, but rear visibility is poor. Standard on the F-Type is leather upholstery and power 12-way seat adjustments. There is an option for heated and ventilated seats. The soft top of the F-Type Convertible can be raised and lowered using the power system in just 12 seconds.

The 2021 Jaguar F-Type convertible is the perfect blend of beauty, power, and performance. This premium convertible has breathtaking sports car looks with luxurious interiors. It is possible to fit two people comfortably in either trim. Each model features two well-bolstered seats with a good amount of lateral support. Furthermore, finding a comfortable driving position is relatively straightforward. However, the F-Type's seat padding is hard and its head- and legroom are very limited, reducing its appeal as an everyday car. There's a smaller trunk in the F-Type convertible when compared to the Coupe body style. It offers 7.3 cubic feet of luggage space, which is enough for a small weekend trip.

The interiors of all the rival cars are similar and can accommodate two people in relative comfort; however, the BMW M4 Convertible has room for four passengers. Chevrolet Corvettes are designed with much more cargo space, while Porsche 911 Carreras offer less. Standard interior features of the 2021 Jaguar F-Type convertible include:

  • Keyless entry
  • Push start button
  • Automatic Climate Control
  • Heated leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • 12-way power-adjustable front seats

2021 Jaguar F-Type Convertiblevs 2021 BMW M4 Convertible

There's no need to fling yourself out of your seat. In addition to its high level of comfort, the Bimmer has many additional features for improving your driving experience. A better grand-tour experience is provided by the Jaguar, which is more relaxed and composed. Additionally, the interiors are luxuriously appointed, adding to the overall feel of the Jag.
