2023 Jaguar F-TYPE R-Dynamic Coupe

After 2022, the Jaguar F Type gets a 5L Supercharged V8 and dropped the four- and six-cylinder engine options across all trims including the R Dynamic. It functions as a bridge between the base P450 trim and the high-end R trim and slots itself neatly between them with its various unique features over the P450. It has 20-inch 6-spoke wheels, an exclusive R Dynamic body kit along with unique exterior and interior detailing, an AWD drivetrain, and further power adjustments for the seats. For an asking price of $85,175, Jaguar has packed the F-type R Dynamic with enough unique features to make it stand on its own and turn heads wherever it goes. It has nine unique exterior paint schemes along with two premium paint schemes and two different interior paint schemes which give it plenty of options to mix and match colors to your heart’s content. 

The R dynamic brings in a whole host of visual changes to the F Type and its Light Oyster leather and suede cloth sport seats with Ebony/Light Oyster interior makes the interior of the Coupe lively and premium. Along with that, the addition of the Jaguar Elite Care pack for free makes the car much more secure with additional warranties and roadside assistance. We did observe the packages for the F Type being lackluster as the features in them should come standard in a luxury sports coupe. Other than that Jaguar also offers two more packages for the 2023 Jaguar F-Type R Dynamic which are:-

We Recommend 

We recommend going all out when buying the Jaguar F-Type R Dynamic with the Climate Pack and the Blind spot assist pack for added convenience and comfort when driving. Other than that, we especially enjoyed the British Racing Green paint scheme along with the 20-inch Style 5102, 5-spoke wheels, and the fixed Panoramic roof. For the interiors, we recommend the Light Oyster leather and suede cloth sports seats which have integrated 12-way electric memory, and getting the Ebony Suede Cloth headlining that further adds the Interior Luxury Pack for a stunning and premium feeling interior.

Featuring a monstrous 5.0L supercharged V8 engine along with an AWD drivetrain, the F Type R Dynamic is definitely not all looks. This sports coupe is capable of pushing 444 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque. This gives the F Type R Dynamic trim an insanely quick acceleration, going from 0 to 60 in a mere 5.4 seconds and completing a quarter mile in just 14.1 seconds. The 8-speed automatic transmission with overdrive gives the R Dynamic an easy gear shift and the AWD drivetrain makes it much more stable over rough terrain than its RWD-wielding P450 counterpart. However, the drivetrain can be harder to manage when taking quick and narrow turns and it lacks a sense of connection with the road. 

As the most expensive Coupe among the competitors, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 also delivers the best performance with a mindblowing acceleration and the highest top speed. The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 3LT comes in second with marginally slower acceleration and top speed than the Cayman GT4. It is followed by the Lexus RC F Track with a respectable acceleration but a lower top speed than the Jaguar F-Type R Dynamic, which comes in last with a respectable acceleration and top speed but not enough to beat its competitors. If an incredibly quick acceleration and a monstrous top speed are a priority the F-Type R trim could be a viable option. 

2023 Jaguar F-Type R Dynamic Ride and Handling

The F Type R dynamic is pleasant on the road with a responsive drivetrain and brisk acceleration along with plenty of snaps and pops from its old-school V8 engine to make the driving experience a much more enjoyable one. The transmission shifts quickly and despite its power, the F Type R Dynamic is easy to drive and offers an easy learning curve. However, when pushed on the track, the coupe starts showing its age as it struggles to take quick corners, falls flat when hitting bumps, and despite having an AWD drivetrain, does not have good contact with the road. It lacks the agility and control that its rivals have perfected, but has decent acceleration. 

2023 Jaguar F-Type R Dynamic Braking performance

The braking performance on the R Dynamic F Type has a steep learning curve as the brake pedal feels slightly uneven. However, that is more than made up by the massive 15-inch brake rotors in the front and 14.8-inch rotors in the rear which give the coupe an incredibly powerful braking function where it goes from 60 to 0 in a mere 101 feet. The ventilated disc brake rotors are further assisted by 4-wheel ABS and Emergency braking assist which make the coupe have a smooth braking action when on winding roads but struggle to replicate the same feeling when at higher speeds. 

The Jaguar F-Type R Dynamic is the heaviest car among the competitors which affects its braking speed despite having the biggest brake rotors in the front and slightly smaller brake rotors in the rear. The Cayman GT4 takes the lead once again with a slightly faster braking speed and the lowest curb weight amongst the competition. The Stingray 3LT takes third place with the smallest brake rotors among the competition but the second lowest curb weight giving it a quick braking action. The Lexus RC F Track has good braking action and big brake rotors but struggles against its competitors with the highest braking distance.

The fuel efficiency of the F Type R Dynamic is decent for a luxury-oriented sports coupe. It has an EPA-estimated fuel efficiency of upwards of 16 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway for a combined fuel efficiency of 18 mpg. This is in line with its lower trim, the P450 but the higher R trim is much more fuel-intensive owing to its more powerful drivetrain. What sets apart the F Type R Dynamic from its competitors is its 18.5-gallon engine capable of giving the coupe a driving range of 296 miles in the city and 444 miles on the highway for a combined driving range of 333 miles. 

All of the coupes have marginal differences in their fuel efficiencies but the Chevrolet Corvette takes the lead with its big fuel tank and above average combined fuel efficiency giving it the best driving range. The F Type comes right next to it with similar figures but has a lower combined fuel efficiency giving it a smaller combined driving range. The Lexus RC F Track comes third with respectable fuel efficiency but is held back by its smaller fuel capacity resulting in a smaller driving range. The Cayman GT4 comes last despite having a better fuel economy in the city than the F Track due to the smallest fuel capacity amongst the competitors. 

With a driver-centric cockpit and comfortable seats that feel premium with the additional options of Morzine, suede cloth, and leather, the interiors of the F Type R Dynamic are a mixed bag as they can get as high-end as it gets but by default are average at best. The cabin is roomy enough for drivers to not feel cramped and the adjustability is also decent. The interior chrome accents on the steering wheel and doors give the coupe an eye-catching design while the air vents on either side of the dashboard give it a symmetric appearance. Most of the controls for the center console are easy to reach and the rotary knobs for the infotainment system give the interiors a unique appearance. Visibility is slightly lessened due to its smaller back glass even though it has a wide windscreen. 

With the second row of seats, the Lexus RC F Track makes a compelling case when it comes to interior space and comes first in terms of legroom and the second best shoulder room. The second coupe on the list is the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 3LT with the best cargo capacity and the second-best interior space. It is followed by the Jaguar F-Type R Dynamic with a similarly sized interior cabin but a slightly lower cargo capacity. We have no data on the interiors of the Cayman GT4 but we will update the list as soon as we do.

2023 Jaguar F-Type R Dynamic Infotainment system 

The infotainment system on the F Type has improved significantly over the previous iterations and the input lag and glitched that it was once riddled with are almost gone with minimal appearances. The InControl Touch Pro infotainment software on the 10.0-inch touchscreen is easy to use and the various tactile buttons and gauges are beautifully placed and easy to access. The integrated Meridian sound system with 10 speakers offers good-quality audio and other standard features include a Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless phone charging. Standard connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also present in the R Dynamic trim.

The exterior of the F Type embodies the curves and flows of the older E-Type and envisions it in a more modern setting. Surprisingly, it works well with the R Dynamic adding the signature R-Dynamic body design patterns and unique exterior accents to go along with it such as the grille surrounds, fender vents, window surround, and exterior badges all coming in gloss black. The Premium LED headlights with signature DRLs that flank the gorgeous front grille make the front fascia attractive and eye-catching with an old-school flare. These unique design elements give the R Dynamic a much more recognizable and dynamic look differentiating it from the other trims of the F Type. 

Unsurprisingly, the Lexus RC F Track also has the longest body with the longer wheelbase but is also the tallest and has the second highest ground clearance which is almost sedan like in nature. The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 3LT is second in terms of length and has the widest body along with the highest ground clearance. The Jaguar F-Type R Dynamic comes in third with a low ground clearance making it more agile and a smaller zippy body to go along with it. The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 has the best ground clearance and the smallest body among the competitors.

The 2023 Jaguar F Type R Dynamic gets all the safety features that are standard for a coupe of its class along with several driver assistance features like Emergency Braking, Rear Camera, Cruise Control and Speed Limiter, Driver Condition Monitor, Lane Keep Assist, Front and Rear Parking Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition and Adaptive Speed Limiter. Other than that, the blind-spot monitor can be found in an additional package completing the roster of driver assistance features in the F Type. Neither the NHTSA nor the IIHS has tested or rated the coupe but its aluminum construction is rigid and has a rigid and strong body.

2023 Jaguar F-Type R Dynamic VS 2023 Lexus RC F Track

Lexus and Jaguar have been budding heads when it comes to performance-inspired sedans and coupes for decades now with no clear winner. This time around the story doesn't change either as the F Type R Dynamic and the RC F Track both have positives and negatives that make them slightly better than each other in some regards. Whereas the Jaguar is much cheaper, has a higher top speed, a quicker braking action, a higher fuel capacity, a longer range, and a lower ground clearance. The Lexus has a higher acceleration, a lighter body, better fuel efficiency, a more spacious cabin, and a longer wheelbase. 

2023 Jaguar F-Type R Dynamic VS 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 3LT

Chevrolet and Jaguar have a similar story as the corvette had a reception that made it legendary and Jaguar struggled to catch up to its fame. The pattern is repeated here as the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 3LT has a much quicker acceleration, a better top speed, a lighter body, higher fuel efficiency and better range, a better cargo capacity, and a longer wheelbase. Meanwhile, the F-Type R Dynamic has a more spacious interior, a quicker braking action, and a lower ground clearance which is not enough to beat Chevrolet at their own game as the Corvette Stingray beats the F Type R Dynamic in almost all regards. 

2023 Jaguar F-Type R Dynamic VS 2023 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4

Porsche has been making the highest gains when it comes to Coupe design and marketability in recent years when Jaguar had been focussing more on SUVs. Despite its much lower asking price, The F-Type R Dynamic gives the 718 Cayman GT4 a run for its money with a higher fuel capacity and driving range, a higher cargo capacity, and a longer wheelbase. Whereas the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 dominates with its breakneck acceleration, a much higher top speed, lighter body, quicker braking action, better fuel efficiency, and lower ground clearance. 

We will recommend the 2023 Jaguar F-Type R Dynamic only for those who don’t find the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 3LT appealing as it does exactly what the F Type does but better and at the same time keeps the cost lower. The F Type by itself is a good choice but the R Dynamic trim falls between the more economic P450 trim and the much more powerful R trim and struggles to find a middle ground as such. Both the other trims have a much more strong case to be bought but the R Dynamic trim lacks the power of the R Trim or better design elements than the P450 trim, making it less distinct than its counterparts. The issues with the F Type haven’t been solved in the R Dynamic trim either and the stiff handling and low traction continue to be an issue in the lower trims where the R Dynamic trim could have been a more handling-based trim designed for rougher terrain that Jaguar was aiming for with the AWD drivetrain.
