Engine and Transmission

The 2019 Jaguar XE SV Project 8 comes powered by Jaguar's most powerful iteration of its 5.0L supercharged V8 motor. This motor has been tuned to generate a ginormous 592hp and 516lbs.-ft. Of torque. The Flat underbody and the Carbon Fiber Rear wings ensures that the power generated from this motor stays on the ground and adds down force and stability.

The 8 Speed Automatic is quick to respond and has been tuned in perfect precision with the Massive motor. Once on the highway, the gearbox tones down and becomes smoother in operation owing to the demand of smoothness from the driver.

Speaking of rivals, the German adversaries of the Jaguar offer a higher power and torque figure, with the Merc being the most powerful of the lot. The Maserati is the last in this list but still manages to be beaten by the Jag in terms of Torque on offer.

Acceleration

With a beefy motor residing under the hood the 2019 Jaguar XE SV Project 8, the acceleration figures of the Jag are impressive to say the least. The Jag matches some of the best performance sedans out there in the market and does that with ease.

Talking of numbers, the BMW M5 edges out the Jag and the Merc in the 0-60 run and the quarter mile. The Maserati on the other hand is the slowest of the lot despite its sub 5 second time for doing the 0-60 run.

Ride and Handling

Also, what ensures a perfect balance on both the road and track are the double-wishbone front and Integral Link rear suspension with stiffer springs and manually adjustable Continuously Variable Dampers. These allows the suspension to be stiff for when the driver's demand precision on track and soft for when the going is easy. Body roll is minimal and the steering is a joy to manage and play around with.

Braking

With Carbon Fiber Brakes doing duty in the Jag XE SV, the braking performance is of the same levels as well. While we don't have the 60-0 figures of the Jag but considering the lightweight build of the Jag and the high level of brakes and aerodynamics on offer, the Jag does perform superbly well in the braking department.

Speaking of rivals, the BMW M5 outshines all other sedans in the segment with a sub 100ft time. The Merc is the second in the list in terms of numbers while the Maserati comes in 3rd.

2019 Jaguar XE SV Project 8 Sedan Fuel Economy

Not only is the Motor in the 2019 Jaguar XE SV Project powerful but Fuel Efficient as well to say the least. The Jaguar delivers an overall MPG figure of 18 and offers the best performance on the highway with its 22 MPG figure.

While the Jag tops the MPG figures list, all others cars are locked at dead heat in terms of MPG figures. The AMG matches the Jag in terms of overall figures but is better than both the BMW and the Maserati in overall numbers.

While we don't have numbers of the interior dimensions of the maserati, the BMW stakes claim to be the most spacious of the lot. The Jag comes in second to the Bimmer and the Merc has to suffice with the last spot here.

2019 Jaguar XE SV Project 8 Sedan Competition

AMG E 63 SJaguar XE SV Project 8 vs. BMW M5

The BMW M5 is the benchmark around the world in terms of being the best driver's car that money can buy. Sure there are powerful things than the Bimmer but no car in the world can match the performance and thrill that the Bimmer offers. Add to that, a well laid cabin with supreme quality of materials and an engine that will stand the test of time. The M% however is not a daily driver in the way that it's supremely stiff in tune and is best suited for track days or occasional use. The Jag comes close in offering the same levels of performance and driving manners but falls short, owing to its massive asking price and quality of interiors.
