Since Jaguar XF received major changes in the trim range, interior, and engines in 2021, the 2022 Jaguar XF Sedan is expected to be the same as the outgoing model. It has a quiet cabin, well-organized interior, bold exterior, and a decent number of safety features. There will be two fundamental trims i.e. P250 S and P250 SE.

There are no noteworthy optional packages available on the S trim. However, it’s a different story for the SE trim. It has a convenience package for $1,000 which adds an activation key, additional power sockets, and soft door close. The cold climate package costs $700 includes a heated windscreen, heated power wash, and heated steering wheel. The dynamic handling package worth $1,350 provides a trunk lid spoiler, configurable dynamics, red brake calipers, and adaptive dynamics.

We Recommend

As there are not many trim options available in 2022, we would recommend you to go for the base P250 S trim. It has the same engine as the SE trim plus it does not lack any major features compared to the SE trim. Therefore, go with the S trim, save a couple of thousand bucks, and take your family on a vacation with the saved money in the same sedan.

Release Date

There is no official announcement from Jaguar that they are going to release the 2022 XF. That said, keep checking with us for recent updates and information.

2022 Jaguar XF Engine and Performance

9.0/10

When you pop the XF’s hood, you will get a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine which is shared by both S and SE trim. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and the power gets sent to the rear wheels, unlike the R-dynamic variant where AWD is given. This engine produces a healthy 246 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. This setup will help the 2022 XF sprint from 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds which makes it the slowest of all.

2022 Jaguar XF Sedan Hits 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds

The XF P250 is slower compared to the discontinued supercharged V6 engine. Since the 2022 XF P250 will not be having major changes as compared to the 2021 model. The handling will be smooth, suspensions will be subtle, the brake pedal response will be good, and the feedback from the steering wheel will be great just like the 2021 model.

With the lowest power figure, XF is the last in the race but despite having the same engine configuration, the A6 is reigning on top of all the sedans in the segment as the car with the fastest acceleration and the highest power figure. The 530i produces less power but it is 0.2 seconds faster than the E-class. That said, in terms of the top speed, the XF can go up to 155 mph.

2022 Jaguar XF Fuel Economy

7.0/10

As there will be no AWD available on the 2022 Jaguar XF, there is only one set of fuel economy estimates available. Also, 2022 is expected to have no changes in the powertrain or engine, therefore 2021 year EPA estimates can be taken for reference. The 2022 Jaguar XF will give a fuel economy of 25 mpg in the city, 33 on the highways, and 28 mpg combined.

The BMW 530i shares the same figures as the XF, which makes them share the top position as the most fuel-efficient sedan in the segment. However, since the 530i has a smaller fuel tank, XF wins the competition with the higher range. The E-class comes out as the most thirsty sedan in the segment and has the smallest fuel tank. That said, A6 performed modestly with 23/31/26 mpg in the city/highways/combined.

2022 Jaguar XF Competition

2022 Jaguar XF Vs BMW 5 Series

The BMW 5 Series is definitely better at acceleration as compared to the XF. However, both of these sedans share the same fuel economy figures but with the bigger fuel tank, XF gains the edge over 5 Series.

BMW 5 Series

There is also not a big difference in the cargo capacity. That said, as compared to the BMW 5 Series Jaguar XF will still be a better option considering the price tag.

2022 Jaguar XF Vs 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

On one hand, the Mercedes-Benz E-class has the higher figures but on the other hand, it lacks in terms of fuel efficiency.

2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The Jaguar XF has a more spacious cabin while the Mercedes-Benz E-class comes with a bigger trunk. The ground clearance of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is higher than the Jaguar XF which increases its points in the report card.

2022 Jaguar XF Vs 2021 Audi A6 Premium

The Jaguar XF has a sluggish acceleration as compared to the Audi A6 but it tries to counter it with a higher top speed, better fuel economy, and passenger volume.

2021 Audi A6 Premium

That said, A6 has better cargo space and also has all-wheel drive while the XF has rear-wheel drive. 2021 Audi A6 has also received the ‘top safety pick+’ award from the IIHS which pulls odds in its favor as the safest sedan.

2022 Jaguar XF Final Verdict

The Jaguar XF is a mixed package with a reasonable price tag as compared to rivals. However, this lower price tag comes at the cost of luxury and performance where competitors of the XF have the edge. Moreover, there are no safety ratings available for 2021 XF yet whereas competitors have been evaluated by agencies like IIHS. However, if you want a sedan that gives impressive fuel efficiency, spacious interior, and a comfortable drive, all this at a price that is about $10,000 less than the rivals, then look no further and put the Jaguar XF at top of your list.
